It's time, once again, to choose a Republican Speaker of the House! 😳
It probably won't be George Santos. Like Donald Trump, he's ineligible because of criminal charges against him. Rep. Santos now faces 23 counts. He needs to work harder to catch up to Trump.

Another member of the House who many people think deserves to be indicted is Gym Jordan – one of the candidates for Speaker.
Former Ohio State University wrestlers say Jim Jordan betrayed them and shouldn't be House speaker
Jordan is a facilitator of sex abuse. Imagine the editorial cartoons of him as House Speaker.
It says a lot about the GOP that their least bad candidate for Speaker once called himself "David Duke without the baggage". Duke was once the "grand wizard" of the KKK.
House speaker contender Steve Scalise reportedly called himself ‘David Duke without the baggage’
We can help erase the slim majority which GOP legislative terrorists have in the House. Support the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee.
« Jim Jordan can't be trusted with the Constitution. »
— Former White House aide Cassidy Hutchinson at Pod Save America and repeated at CNN (below).
Before going to work at the Trump White House, Cassidy Hutchinson held several positions at the Capitol. She became the star witness at the House January 6th Committee hearings in 2022.
Gym Jordan and Steve Scalise are running for Speaker of the House. While there isn't a lot of ideological space between them, Jordan is essentially an unindicted co-conspirator regarding the attack on the Capitol by pro-Trump terrorists. In fact, GOP former Speaker John Boehner referred to Jordan as a "legislative terrorist". He's basically Matt Gaetz on decaf – and without a jacket.
Having Jordan as House Speaker would be the Capitol Hill equivalent of Trump in the White House.
As if the US House of Representatives were not experiencing enough chaos and dysfunction, Donald Trump will be visiting Capitol Hill next week. It will be his first visit since he encouraged MAGA terrorists to rampage through the Capitol on 06 January 2021.
He also stated that he would be "open" to becoming House Speaker. The holder of that position doesn't necessarily have to be a House member, but both parties have policies which prevent indicted individuals from being part of the Congressional leadership. Trump faces four indictments featuring 91 counts against him.
Since Seth Meyers made that vid, Trump has declared his support for conspiracy nutcake Gym Jordan (R-OH-04).

House Majority Leader Steve Scalise (R-La.) refused to answer whether the 2020 election was stolen when pressed eight separate times in a Su
GOP House Majority Leader Steve Scalise (R-LA-01) was asked eight times by ABC's George Stephanopoulos on Sunday whether the 2020 election was "stolen". Scalise dodged the question every single time.
House Majority Leader Steve Scalise (R-La.) refused to answer whether the 2020 election was stolen when pressed eight separate times in a Sunday interview with ABC News’s George Stephanopoulos.
Asked about conservative Rep. Ken Buck’s (R-Colo.) decision to leave Congress and his departing remark that “too many Republican leaders are lying to America, claiming that the 2020 election was stolen,” Scalise avoided responding directly in the interview on ABC News’s “This Week.”
“Well, Ken, I’ve worked with on a number of issues, including getting spending under control, getting our economy back on track. He’s talked about that 2020 election as well. You and I have, I think, have talked about that too,” Scalise said. “At the end of the day, getting our country back on track is our focus. And that’s what we’re focused on right now.”
“Can you say unequivocally the 2020 election was not stolen?” Stephanopoulos asked Scalise, after the congressman detailed several other legislative priorities for the party.
Scalise dodged the question.
Donald Trump controls House Republicans the way Vladimir Putin controls Donald Trump.
“I just want an answer to the question, yes or no?”
“We’ve asked — look, we’ve talked about this before. But, again, will you acknowledge that there were states that didn’t follow the actual state legislative enacted laws on their book, which the U.S. Constitution says they’re supposed to do?” Scalise said, again refusing to answer.
“I know that every court that looked at whether the election was stolen said it wasn’t, rejected those claims. And I asked you a very, very simple question. Now I’ve asked it, I think, the fifth time that you can’t appear to answer. Can you say unequivocally that the 2020 election was not stolen?”
The exchange continued without coming to any ultimate resolution.
This is a good question to put to all Republicans running for office. A YES will instantly identify them with Trump, a NO will cause them to antagonize Trump.
Keep in mind that Scalise was a candidate for House Speaker – for a few hours.
The quality of leadership in the House Republican caucus is close to nonexistent. House Republicans are basically Trump's flea circus.
Rep. Steve Scalise (R-LA) reportedly spoke at white supremacist gathering
House Majority Whip Steve Scalise (R-La.), whose office has been beating back criticism about a speech he gave at a 2002 gathering hosted by a white supremacist group, received some ill-timed praise from the group's founder Monday evening. The notorious former Ku Klux Klan leader David Duke described Scalise as "a fine family man" with whom he often agrees.
