technology lab - week three + cute kitty 🐈⬛
biology lab is over and I’m really gonna miss it, that was probably one of the best courses so far - now I just have to pass the written exam. Easy, right? 😅
Random things/vibes in the lab course I have rn:
the smell of acetone
nobody having any fucking clue what to do like 90% of the time but still managing their shit somehow
not even the lab assistants and student helpers fully knowing their shit
everyones feet hurting so fucking much from being in the lab up to 7 hours a day 4 times a week
the constant beeping of one or more of the fume hoods cause they are little bitches that just want attention
"if it works it ain't stupid"
hoping with you whole heart that you won't have to repeat any experiments
everyone constantly asking each other for advice or checking out the state of each others experiments
being glad if your stuff looks the same as the others cause you can't all have fucked up right ?

I’m trying to revise my lab course report and there is. So. Much. Data. Like jfc this was a three week “study”, it should have no business being this complicated. Then again, I did compare 23 membranes, all with two different label particles, and then there were also some samples, so... yeah. I mean, the results in themselves are quite simple. Like, for example, the control membrane often had the best signal/background ratio. Let’s say, 60-80 % higher compared to the rest. Easy, right? Except that I have to compare each goddamn S/B value from each membrane, with each standard solution, with each particle to the corresponding control. (That’s 132 comparisons. If you’re counting.) And my Excel is laggy as hell.
Tbh, the real reason for my frustration over all this is that I Turned This Crappy Report In SEVEN MONTHS AGO. It’s been ELEVEN MONTHS since I actually was AT the lab. Frankly, I don’t remember shit about it. I have no idea what I was doing, why I was doing, and what the hell was anyone thinking. I turned the report in, and waited seven months for someone to get back to me on it. My careful inquiries over e-mail apparently disappeared into the void. I even saw the lecturer face to face and asked him about it, and he promised he’d do it soon. That was five months ago. I am. So done. I seriously have so much to do, like, for example, my actual Master’s thesis. But no. Here I sit, scouring over data that is almost a year old, concerning a project which only held my interest very superficially. Ugh.
Now, if you’ll excuse me, the water should be boiled and I can go make myself a mug of tea to drown myself into help me get through this crap.
Guys, guys, guys...GUESS WHAT!!!
I passed my last lab course! The last one! THE VERY LAST ONE! I will never ever have to take a lab course again!!! (i will be in the lab though for work and for cleaning up at the end of the semester, but I don't have to pass any more analyses anymore. Ahahahaha! <-- That's my slightly hysteric and disbelieving laugh)
So, when everyone else is done with lab too, we're gonna burn all our lab coats on a giant stake, because that's what they deserve!
