molly and I were thinking of AUs again about what would happen if thor and loki had both fallen into the Void and then were captured and used by Thanos
after endless torture thor would become bitter and berserker all angry and willing to destroy to release pentup anger and hurt whereas loki would be bitter in a sharp, cynical way, but also very reluctant to do thanos' bidding, because after witnessing the drastic change in thor from foolish somewhat violent brute to a coldblooded fury he knows deep inside this is all very wrong
their plans would be different bc now they have someone else to bounce ideas off of but there would also be a lot of emotional codependency between them bc they feel safe only with each other and when separate they feel frantically anxious for the other and for themselves
loki is the one of the two to have contact with The Other because of the staff and every time he has to report to him and get hurt Thor's standing as guard for him with his face stony and fists clenched because he hates The Other but he hates anything that's in the way of him and Loki being free more, hence the whole battle against Earth
they approach the whole Stuttgart situation more differently because Loki's not crazily megalomaniac and Thor's not looking for an ego-boost, but they do agree to have Thor cause a scene so that he'd be captured into the Helicarrier to stir up unrest amongst the avengers while Loki continues working on the Tesseract.
Thor does so and is captured and all of SHIELD is just so confused because they could have sworn Thor was trying to help Earth and stop his brother only a year ago and now he's bent on wreaking war on it, and when they keep demanding where Loki is to capture him too Thor gets extremely defensive. Being separated from Loki takes an emotional toll on him though.
Meanwhile Asgard isn't oblivious to all this because lo and behold Odin sends someone with his dark magic to Earth to reason with his sons: Frigga. She goes to Loki. Loki at first is like ????? mama bring me home!!!! but then is really bitter and refuses to reason with her because after so much torture with Thanos and Thanos convincing him and Thor that Asgard doesn't care for them because they never tried to find them he doesn't want to go back
meaning Frigga has to join the Avengers to fight her sons when they wreak war...and she has to decide if these are the sons she saves or the sons she stops
but during the battle in NYC maybe loki is panicking because as stated before thor's gone all berserk and he gets into the fighting and loki's like 'this isn't my brother' and tries to backslide but then the chitauri hurt him or something idk something whumpy and loki gets hurt and then Thor sees that and gets extremely angry at the Chitauri and maybe then he switches sides bc no one hurts his brother
and then Frigga has to bring her boys back to face justice uvu
People should bot fear dying alone, it is living alone they should fear.
Loki, "On Primrose Hill"
My emotions are once again in turmoil
Well, I just finished the alternate (ao3) ending to Jacob and Esau Say Their Goodbyes. Genuinely cried. Jeeeeeezus, LadyCharity!!! Seriously, what the fuck. How do you write such stirring narrative, and so simply. Stunning work. STUNNING. Dunno which ending I like more. Though I'm thinking the ao3 one may take the cake. All that coiled emotion left over, and all the lies, the loneliness, the frustration and cold, the cathartic explosion in the last few paragraphs, as opposed to the emotional release and hollowness, the beauty and shame and the alienation, the "family above all" mindset of the ff.net ending...hrmmm.
