The gods and their devoted - a series of paintings spanning from June 2020 to November 2021
Right so I just sketched all the main characters of Old Blood because I felt that it's been a while, and I found this (the one on the bottom) very similar sketch from almost exactly 2 years ago and... fuck like... what is wrong with their necks????? god how did I not notice, it’s always the necks that look wrong in my old art, 4 years ago I made them too thick, and 2 years ago I overcorrected to whatever this monstrosity is.
I love how Lakenya’s (far left) general idea is still the same, but the execution is 10 times better.
I’m honestly happy to see how bad my 2 years old art is, because it means I improved a lot.
Here’s the result of all of my cloud studies! I used the last study as a base for this, and I think it looks really cool. I actually really struggled with Lakenya’s face this time, mainly because it’s so small it felt like I was doing pixel art lol. My perfectionism really hindered me there, I wanted every pixel to be perfect. The crows and the moon cycle was a last minute addition. The clouds gave me the vibe of a mural, so I wanted to make it more... artistic lmao. Btw, she’s supposed to hold a mask of a barn owl. In this angle and size it’s hard to see that.
I’m very happy with this! Now I’m finally gonna start working on the next chapter of Daughter of Death...
HELLO. I AM STILL ALIVE. ALSO LOOK. I MADE A GOOD THING.
This was honestly so fun to make. Everything went exactly like I wanted it. I tried to start with black and white bc I wasn’t sure what colors to choose for this, and it completely changed how I approach rendering. I could focus only on values, and it helped me be faster. For reference, this took only 3 DAYS. And I even didn’t do much today.
I feel like I’ve stepped up my art with this new technique, and I’m so happy about it!!!
God I really didn't post for a whole month huh
But I didn't do anything... I mean I worked on my comic...and did this......
I was working on this painting for the last 12 days, on and off, and I've finally given up.
I might come back to it, but something just doesn't work for me here. The colors maybe, but I think It's the setting. My story is suppose to take place in a futuristic city, but this looks like it could be from a random city right now, and I'm not gonna lie, I hate how modern cities look. They're just...so boring.
I’ve sketched a few concepts for environments that look way better than this, so I will come back and try to tackle the dreaded backgrounds again.....
but not right now
some studies and experiments
desert painting is referenced from this picture by Joshua Sortino.
i still have a lot to learn but i think i got better compare to the last time i did this kind of studies
