Okay I thought of alt endings for Lakme from the Lakme opera, and Cio Cio San from Madame Butterfly
So in the alt continuum of Madame Butterfly, instead of committing suicide over Pinkerton the jerk, when Cio Cio was pregnant out of wedlock with Pinkerton's child, her family hastily helped arrange her tk be bethrothed to a handsome samurai prince ( who loves her at first sight and was already a romantic rival against Pinkerton ). Distraught by the abandonment of Pinkerton, Cio Cio becomes touched by the comfort and solace offered by Prince Yuzuru, and eventually accepted his proposal. She at first agreed to rhe arrangement for the sake of her child's legacy and her family's ' honor ', yet grew to love him over time. The child was thus born as a Prince by blood in the Meiji Era court.
When the kid turned 3, and Pinkerton and his American wife returned to try get the kid back. Instantly Pinkerton was faced with a massive obstacle - the Powerful warrior Prince and his entourage, who will absolutely not give up the child so easily. Cio Cio becomes at first kinda torn between her steady true love for Yuzuru, and some memories of the ' first love' with Pinkerton. Ultimately, she chose to stay witb her husband, out of ' duty ', ' honor ' and true love for Yuzuru.
Meanwhile Yuzuru challenges Pinkerton to a duel, to which Pinkerton EPICALLY loses and was banished from Japan since. Elated, Cio Cio kisses her husband and announced to him that she is expecting another child ( with Yuzuru ) ( its a girl ), much to the couple's delight. The climax also symbolized Cio Cio's final closure from that heartbreak regarding Pinkerton.
In the alt continuum of Lakme, when Lakme was abandoned in the woods by that British soldier jerk, her family spent weeks looking for her. Eventually she was discovered by a hunting party that followed the wealthy King of Jhansi ( a small Indian kingdom that is resistant against the British Raj ).
The King decided to venture to the jungle villa to take a look at Lakme himself. When he see Lakme, he fell in love with the temple maiden instantly. He volunteered a royal carriage to help carry her back to the Brahmin temple.
Lakme contacted with a sort of jungle fever and was brought back to the temple, where she was healed by her family and some medics. And the King visited sometimes and helped Lakme's family with the recovery processes. By the time Lakme recovers, she willingly accepts the bethrothal hand in marriage to the King and grew to love him.
Later on Lakme becomes Queen Lakshmi Bai of Jhansi
Honestly I prefer such alt endings. Like at least in their, the ladies DID NOT KILL THEMSELVES over jerks who doesnt even love them in the first place
In the alt continuum, they basically have similar outcomes as Tatiana Larina and Marianne did - from naive and starry eyed maidens who were once heartbroken by cads, to regal and more sensible matriachs who married ' up '
