Idk what this big deal was with people hating season 8 of voltron. I was chill with it. It was cool. I don’t get the negativity. Hope someone could explain.
(the one thing I do get is the whole klance not happening, i mean the sunset scene? Are you shitting me? and they just like weren’t together?)
So I watched season 8, episode 1 for the first time. And I realized lance wasn't looking at allora. He was looking at keith. Since keith and allora sat next to eachother, it could be interpreted as lance staring at allora bc he admires her. But you can see lance is staring at keith, bc it's hinted at their relationship throughout the show. Lance and keith had been getting closer. Complementing eachother and encouraging eachother during fights. They relayed on eachother. And yes, I may be a bit salty about lallora being sprung last minute, but I can see how pained lance is when hunk says the tv show hinted keith and allora. And I think he acted on impulse to say it should be him and allora, when he truly wants to be with keith.
And to conclude my ted talk-
CAN WE JUST TAKE A MOMENT TO APPRECIATE
How incredibly healthy the depiction of lance's jealousy is
At no point does he try to interrupt Lotor and Allura, or get in their way---the extent of his meddling is "are you sure you guys don't need a third... wheel?" And when they turn him down? He leaves without a fuss.
At no point even after they learn about Lotor does he make Allura feel bad for liking or trusting him. He doesn't take shots at them to their faces or bad-mouth them behind their backs.
He's sad because the girl he likes (coughlovescoughs) likes and is pursuing someone else. He doesn't try to confess. He doesn't try to fight. He doesn't snipe or grouse or anything. He's just sad.
And when Lotor's nasty history does come out? He very clearly reassures Allura that she did nothing wrong. That they all trusted Lotor. That he knows what it's like to screw up and that all she can do is get up and try to fix it.
He tells her what she needs to hear; none, none of it is passive-aggressive or self-aggrandizing; none if it is about him; all of it is to make her feel better.
I dunno guys. I think Lance deserves some major kudos for this one.
