So I'm writing a little exercise/experiment fic to work out Aiden's relationship with Guxart with the scenario being Vesemir breaking a no-contact dramatic breakup to let Guxart know that his kit is, indeed, alive, and ofc Guxart comes to Kaer Morhen to confirm this.
Things are revealed.
Lambert is pissed that Vesemir gave him so much shit for dating a cat when he had, apparently, done the same
Aiden is horrified because now he's imagining his father and his (in-law?) lover's father courting each other
Vesemir is so done. Guxart is grabbing popcorn
(the family tree is kind of a circle, but they're all adopted and struggle to admit that they're a family anyway, so...)
Why hello, fancy meeting you here! In your ask box...
What if Aiden takes a prank too far, and Lambert has to deal with it? <.<

“Oh come on, darling,” Aiden purred as he draped himself over Lambert’s shoulder, tucking one of his curls behind his ear and pressing a kiss just below his ear. “It was a joke.”
A joke.
Ah yes, a joke that had left nearly an entire tavern scared shitless and ready to take up arms against every witcher they ever saw again. Instead of getting paid for slaying their wraith problem, which had really fucking hurt, Lambert now had to try and make nice with humans. All because Aiden thought it would be funny to pretend to be the dead noon wraith and haunt the tavern, aided by a tattered dress they’d found in a chest and some well placed witcher signs. The so-called prank wouldn’t have fooled any witcher worth his coin, but for humans that didn’t know any better? Melitele help him, they were all idiots but not nearly as stupid as his boyfriend.
“You took it too far, cat,” he grumbled, trying not to melt into his boyfriend’s affections.
“Pfft. It was funny.”
Lambert growled and batted away Aiden’s wandering hands. “People were hurt, Aiden. That’s not funny, and on top of that we’re not getting paid. I can’t have a fucking drink and we’re unlikely to find work here again.”
To his surprise, Aiden did look a little sheepish, but his unnaturally blue eyes were still glinting mischievously. “Humans were hurt, but barely. If they hadn’t tried to throw butter knives at me then they would have been fine. It’s not my fault that they can’t aim for shit.”
“Just stay here, cat.” Lambert snarled and stormed back into the tavern, his nearly empty coin purse in hand. It took several apologies, the rest of his gold and the promise to keep the cat witcher under control for the barkeep to let him book a room for the night.
Fucking hell, Lambert hated negotiating. He’d normally leave that shit to Aiden when they travelled together, or occasionally Eskel. Geralt normally made things worse, especially if that bard of his was around for the show. Coen could be trusted but usually he preferred to walk the path alone. The griffin was happy to stay at Kaer Morhen over winter, the company suited him just fine, but he hunted alone. Well, without other witchers. Lambert had heard rumours of Coen helping out on the battlefields of humans, as long as the price was right.
But the point was that Lambert wasn’t exactly known for his gift of the gab, and yet here he was, sorting out his more eloquent boyfriend’s mess. Aiden was many things, handsome, funny, charming, lethal with his daggers, but he was also scathing of humans and at times thoughtless as a result.
He’d never quite grasped that they needed humans to survive, as much as Lambert hated to admit it.
“Come on,” he grumbled to his boyfriend as he pulled them back inside. “Keep your trap shut and come upstairs.”
Aiden giggled as his fingers brushed along Lambert’s wrist. “Buy me a drink first, handsome.”
To his chagrin, Lambert’s cheeks heated at Aiden’s words. Despite their years of dating, the cat still had a way of making him flustered, which was the most annoying fucking thing. He grumbled wordlessly and dragged the cat upstairs, notably without a drink.
ok wait for the fake fic ask game, this mili lyric from children of the city.
any bit of this part as the title... go crazy..
Reflected upon the murky gutter sky
The clouds rumbled in the sky as Lambert walked beside his horse, Aiden's trailing behind him as he led them both… somewhere. Maybe to the Dyn Marv.
Maybe not.
He didn't think he had the strength to face them right now, nor did he think they'd want to hear from him.
He should've stuck with Aiden, should've had his back. Aiden always did.
A drop of water fell on Lambert's arm as the horses grew more distressed. He sighed as he heard Aiden's horse whinny and bump his shoulder with its muzzle.
'We should've stayed over at the last town over. They had a pretty nice abandoned barn on the outskirts' is what Aiden would've said if he were here. Another drop fell on Lambert's cheek.
Lambert tugged at the horses' reins slightly, leading them over to the shade made by the boulder formations a bit deeper into the forest. It wasn't an abandoned barn, but at least they weren't going to get drenched. Sitting still against the boulders for a moment after all this time of constantly walking and wandering, with the rain pitter-pattering on his surroundings, Lambert leaned his head back resting it on the surface of the rock.
The hollow feeling growing in his gut ever since he saw Aiden's lifeless eyes seemed to finally consume him. He knew Aiden was gone. Forever.
He'd frantically poured White Raffard's Decoction and Swallow into his mouth, despite knowing that there was no heartbeat and hadn't been for a while. He'd held Aiden's bleeding head against his chest for hours when he found him. He'd screamed and cursed at the world for taking away the one good thing he found on the Path. Possibly the only good thing. He'd stared at the pool of blood, still wet under where Aiden lay, reflecting light from the stars in the clear night sky.
He'd swore to kill Jad fucking Karadin and his gods damned band of assassins.
But Aiden was gone.
Forever.
i know i was supposed to write a summary but have a drabble instead ^^ I love my doomed witchers^^
