Temperance sits between Death and the Devil.  When I think about this, birth fits.  The cycle of birth brings parents face to face with death, then joy, alongside pain and anguish.  For Indigenous birthing parents the anguish is increased with the threat of state violence via birth alerts.

I’ve struggled reading the 6 of swords and telling folks they were moving on to something better.  it wasn’t better it was often just safer.  This is a reality for marginalized folks. Safer isn’t always better, isn’t always a choice, and safety often lays in the hands of the oppressors.

I chose the Oka Crisis as the 5 of arrows because Oka took everyone coming together as siblings, having each others back.  This enabled the strength to stand down a state army.  1492 Land Back Lane certainly embodied this too, but it was Oka that ultimately laid the foundation for Land Back Lane (where as of this update in October 2021, the development has officially ceased).  Also these young Warriors learned a hard lesson in victory this day.

The scout of cups is my middle child. 2 spirit Algonquin and Lakota Warrior. They were the peace keeper of the siblings.  They want everyone to be looked after, happy and safe.  So they sacrifice this for themselves.
