I'm going to preface this by saying that I may get things wrong, and some of these topics discussed may be considered unhealthy, and should not be romanticized.

Jirai is a culture thats name translates to ‘landmine type’. This describes one’s personality or actions. It uses the word ‘landmine’ to mean destructive and fragile. Most commonly, the jirai subculture is obsessive, parasocial, destructive, and maladaptive or malignant. It is commonly associated with BPD due to the obsessive destructive nature of it, but is not BPD exclusive. Jirai is a negatively connotated word reclaimed by mentally ill people, having been used originally to attack mentally ill people, and was used to insult people (almost always women) that are explosive, and mentally / emotionally unstable, struggling with regulation . Thus, it’s a term rooted within mental illness. A lot of jirai’s have unhealthy coping mechanisms. That all being said, it does not automatically encourage getting worse.

In Tanzania, rats are trained to detect landmines. The rodents’ acute sense of smell and lightweight frame allow them to sniff out chemicals and detect landmines without triggering an explosion.

The rats, also known as “HeroRATs,” can also detect tuberculosis more quickly than laboratory tests. The non-profit organisation APOPO currently has over 104 rodent recruits.
