“Does that—” she feels him squinting at her, “does that make sense, what happened?” “You were addicted to narcotics and stealing meds from patients and Trinity caught you.” The machine sputters abruptly, spurting out coffee like a transected artery. It takes her a beat to realize he’s staring at her. She blinks at him, her bluntness incidental, a byproduct of her attention being bled out elsewhere. “Right?” “I—” his masseter muscle shifts. Hardens. “Not really what I said.” “I thought you asked what happened.” His mouth parts. His waxy mask of contrition flickers for a beat, revealing something honed. Something with lived-in, offensive edges. Their pagers go off with a trauma alert.

langdon and mohan who bond over losing robby’s favour after langdon comes back from rehab. it starts with grabbing food after a shift, then it’s discussions about fellowships and advice on applications and before they realise, they’re sending each other podcasts and articles because they think the other would find it interesting. samira doesn’t realise that their friendship is anything out of the ordinary until, one day before a shift, when frank wordlessly passes her coffee order over, she notices the look on robby’s face. she mentions it to frank when texting to confirm if he’s still on for dinner tonight (he’s still stuck charting and samira’s on the bus home), and she takes the time to really think about robby’s expression and how frank coming over for dinner is now apart of their routine but that doesn’t mean anything, right? it’s a friend dinner, a totally normal and platonic Friend Dinner, just out of convenience. it’s only really because frank is so used to cooking for two and samira barely knows how to use her oven, and it’s just so much easier to share the food rather than frank having so many leftovers and samira having to eat another microwave meal, and it’s cost effective and efficient and since when did she start calling him frank and not langdon?
Also it's a tiny moment, but Robby gets called to and leaves - then Langdon quickly follows, and Samira has a moment of uncertainty where she calls after Langdon - who shouts back to her to keep doing what she's doing.
It's a tiny tiny beat - but I feel it gives such an insight into their relationship and how, Mohan is an R3, but Langdon is an R4 - and in the midst of this chaos and panic doing something she's never done before, she looks to him for guidance/support.
It makes me wonder so much how it felt/how difficult it must have been for her to suddenly be the most senior member of Robby's team when both Langdon and Collins leave.
