When did Lani start her weapons training? I thought Circles in general frowned on mages being able to defend themselves without magic?

Lani learned when she ran away from the Circle somewhere near her 17th birthday, it was mainly a touch and go kind of thing she’s half self taught and half picked up stuff from being on the road. She never learned when she was in the Circle though she did express an interest in it but it was soon shot down.

⇅ do they look up or down while thinking?

Lani tends to look down when she’s thinking, towards the left. She’s quite short, at 5'5" People tend to look down at her and so by looking down she can hide the expression on her features until she’s schooled it enough to be comfortable.

Kindness can go a long way with Lani, it is something she has spent most of her life unfamiliar too, even if it is just as simple as stopping to enquire how she is doing, or helping her out with something.

She will remember every little act of kindness.

Tip 1:

Be patient with her. Lani is a bundle of negative emotions. She doubts herself, she fears herself she fears for those around her. She has put up so many walls around herself that she doesn’t know how to deal with people. She either keeps them at a distance or lets them in too fast and then pushes them away because she doesn’t know how to cope.

You would need to be patient, slowly take down the walls brick by brick even as she’s trying to pile them back up.

H E A D C A N O N S 

Lani cannot swim. She is also afraid of drowning. This is to do with when she was little and trying to save her little sister from a lake when she fell into it.

Whenever Lani gets emotionally unstable, e.g when she's very angry or upset she tends to lose control of her magic. She will freeze things by touching them, her tears turn to frost on her cheeks, her breath comes out as a cold mist.

She doesn't deal with the heat very well - she's very sensitive to the sun and if she is in a warm place in the sun too long she sunburns easily, especially across the bridge of her nose and cheeks - which makes her freckles come out

She has many scars across the knuckles and fingers of her right hand from swords scraping her hand as blades slip past her guard.

She also has a scar from frostburn where she's accidentally harmed herself with her magic it's on her left forearm.

She likes to draw and will doodle in her journal.

☁ - If they’re caught out in the rain how do they react?

Lani loves the rain, she will happily stand out under it and let it soak her clothing, or hear it patter against her armour. She finds the rain very soothing. Many times she has caught a cold from being outside.

☾- Are they prone to nightmares or dreamless sleep?

Lani gets terrible nightmares, she dreams of the Circle and of Uldred and of Abominations and the Fade. She’s quite a restless sleeper and will wake many times in a night in a cold sweat.

♕ - Do they trust easily?

Lani rarely trusts, she’s scared they would turn her in if they found out what she was, so she gives the appearance of trust for the most part. There are some notable exceptions and if her trust is earned and broken she will never trust you again.
