Steven and Lapis fusion!
War AU
In the fight against Homeworld, Stevonnie is gravely injured and they unfuse. Connie is unconscious and Steven searches for her wound. There, her head. Without a though, he kisses her, feeling the blood tacky under his lips. She groans and he rolls back onto his feet with a sigh. Then he really looks at her. She’s just a child. So is he, but half of what he is, is thousands of years old. That’s why he can deal with this.
But Connie. She’s just a child.
Steven is angry. Like that guy from Connie’s book of Greek Myths. Achilles, after the death of Ajax. Steven felt the rage boil through his body.
He stood, turned, and yelled. “LAPIS!” She flies to him and looks at Connie lying at his feet.
“Steven! Is she...?” Steven holds out his hand, interrupting her.
“Lapis, fuse with me.” She shudders involuntarily; he sounds too much like Jasper.
“Steven I don’t know if it’ll work again. Last time might have been a fluke.”
“Lapis, please. I can’t do this as a human. I need to be a Gem.” He begs, and her heart melts a little.
“Come here Steven.” She takes his hand and pulls him to her, her watery wings envelope them both. In a flash of light, a new form stands.
Heliotrope is a lithe figure, almost entirely ebony. Every time the body moves though, there’s the shimmer of red. Water falls and rises like a celestial ring. With a wave of the hand, the water becomes like steel, like a shield.
Heliotrope sees with two eyes, split through the center like an unnerving reflection.
The body flies into battle, shimmering a metallic chill.
