There was just the matter of the unexpected visitor in the gray hours before the sun rose, who planted his foot on Blue’s stomach and bellowed, “RISE AND SHINE, IDIOTS!” at the top of his lungs.

An exact copy of Green and his crew stood smirking at them, ash-gray skin contrasting with black clothes and even blacker hair.  Bright red eyes glowed through the gloom of pre-dawn lightning with an intensity that made everyone feel like a target despite the fact that the newcomer was only about four-foot-one.

“S’up, losers?” Shadow Link chuckled.

Because Shadow deserves love and Revenge Opportunities, okay?

Character introduction

Name : He would like to be remembered as the Prince if that is alright by you

Age : 30

Tag words : Ambitious, cunning, knowledge, desire, royalty, inadequate

Role : The knight in shining armor, the savior

Family : Father : A boring man still in rule

             Mother : An interesting woman far away from her home

            Brothers : Alive

Quote : He has no interest in ruling, he would probably give away the position minutes after he got it. But he would still like to be given the position to start with.   Which is why accepting to turn this town into a kingdom for himself was never of any interest. He barely thought of its existence. Until now. He snaps his finger and a tiny, flowing crown appears above his index finger,             slowly rotating. 

What you should know : The Prince has spent so long crafting his life to defy others expectations that perhaps he is a bit lost. His frustration about being the only person who understood nothing is wrong with him runs so deep that it is a price he is a bit willing to pay. What he cannot give up, cannot live without is asking questions. Why is he always drowning? Where exactly does a quest end? Why does only one person understand he is not a great person?

Character introduction

Name : You can just call her the Queen

Age : She is sure she is somewhere in her late thirties, she has been out of time for a while

Tag words : Protector, sharp, reborn, acceptance, secretive, loss

Role : The wicked witch, evil stepmother

Family : Parents: status unknown

              A lover : status unknown

Quote :  The Queen unbuttons her coat. There is no need of a shield anymore. If she stood absolutely naked in front of this crowd it would not make a difference. She does not need her crown or a title to be queen, in fact she does not even need to be queen. All she has to do is stand here absolutely sure in this moment of space and time. "So what is it that makes me evil ? Is it because I have killed someone or because I can bring them back ? And if you kill me now, what makes you any more redeemable ?” 

They did not hear her, they probably never would. Let them be diamond, she thought, the hardest substance known to man because despite it all I will be human, and therefore always more.

What you should know : Where do we start with the Queen ? Really, where ? No one knows where she came from or exactly when she offered her healing services. Perhaps even she does not remember, it is easy to forget. Steeped heavy in curses, choices, and oaths, the truth is what she makes it. A woman with knowledge, a woman who knows far more than those around her is not ideal in this land she has found herself in. But she is here now and the narrative cannot possibly ignore her.

Age : Technically 30 but still looks 16 for some reason

Role : The servant girl

No, when I cry the entire world will be forced               to watch, I’ll drown the ocean with my tears. When I mourn your gods                 themselves will beg forgiveness for ever causing me sorrow.

What you should know : Agnise is… tricky, a testament to every servant girl who was not a princess in disguise. She’s what happens when people start asking why not, what if and what makes any of us more than another. Of course when you throw in manipulative magic, a need for approval and heavy loss, it does get a little darker as we remember our right to be selfish.

An introduction to my wip

What is Lips As Red As Blood and why should you care ?

If you haven't already figured it out, Larab is a retelling of Snow White. Maybe you're wondering why I've chosen to write this or maybe you're wondering why this is necessary.

This story is inspired from all the questions I had about fairy tales. Why is the witch always wicked, why is the prince searching the woods for love, what would the princess want if she didn't need love to save her ?

This novel is my attempt at trying to answer some of that. To deal with the whys, the what ifs, and maybes.

The story is dark, the characters flawed, and the world unstable.

I fear I may have raised more questions than answers.

That sounds cool but when can I read it and do you have to be so mysterious ?

Here's the good news ! The first draft of Larab is done and is currently undergoing a rewrite and further editing. So you'll hopefully be able to read it pretty soon.

I am a little afraid of revealing too much because the story is easily spoiled. However I will be taking my beta readers advice on which parts I should share.

Well you've got my attention but can we have like a main theme or something ?

Of course ! I didn't write this with a theme in mind but the one that's emerged and the one I would like to define it by is whether what we owe others or the world is more important than what we owe to ourselves ?
