A warm breeze blew through the garden of Croft Manor. A few meters from there was the cemetery and the family chapel, where a slender woman, dressed in an elegant black dress and her hair in a bun, was standing before a fresh grave. The tombstone read: WERNER VON CROY 1932 – 2002 Requiescat in pace “A chance to forgive,” Lara muttered, placing a rose on the gravestone. “I'm sorry, Werner. Wish I hadn’t been so proud.” She had his remains brought from Paris and buried there, together with her ancestors. He'd forever have a place of honor in her memory, for he had made her who she was.
THE GOLDEN SEAL, chapter 29, It’s a girl
Another amazing sketch I don’t deserve by @adayka, made for the last chapter of my first TRAOD sequel, The Golden Seal. Kudos for that nice dress! And thank you so much for having read my fanfic! :D I really hope you enjoyed it!!
It’s still a mystery where’s Werner’s last place of rest. Many TRAOD sequels theorize about it - it’s only logical to suppose Werner’s corpse was kept in a morgue in Paris until the Monstrum case was solved by police and justice. But then, what with it?
I imagined Lara would take him back to Croft Manor and bury him in the cemetery we can see, next to a chapel, in the whereabouts of the manor, as we can see it in Tomb Raider Chronicles’ flyby main menu. Just because, in the end and despite being enemies most of their lives, only him was her true inspiration and the fatherly figure her real father, Lord Henshingly, was never to her.
So why not bury him there, among their ancestors. Maybe he deserved it more than any other Croft.
