Larry Willis R.I.P.
Larry Willis has left us at the age of 76. I first met Larry in 1972 when I was producing Robin Kenyatta. Larry and fellow keyboardist Pat Rebillot started hashing out their parts for one tune and it was a seminar in advanced harmony if one was lucky enough to understand what they were talking about We later got to spend a lot of time together when Larry was in Woody Shaw’s band. He was generous, gregarious and never more happy than when he was at a piano making music or solving a musical problem. He will be sorely missed.
