We Are One and the Same|| Carol & Rick
Carol fought the tears as she advanced to where Rick and Deanna and a few other members of Alexandria had gathered. She couldn't stop the emotions as they coursed through her, causing her to ball hands into fists at her side. This man, the one that had cast her out, was once again making decisions for the group without discussing it with any of them, and she’d had enough. He’d cast her out. Told her she wasn't wanted. That he didn't trust her with his kids. One of them she’d sold her soul to the devil to protect, and here he was, fucking things up again.
She moved toward him. Her hands came up, fists pressing into his chest and pushing him backwards several steps. Her eyes were a shade of blue in which even she wouldn’t recognize. Fire raged through her veins. “Do you know what I’ve done for you? Do you have any idea what I was forced to do in order to protect you daughter when you left mine to die? Rick, do you?”
Surprisingly, maybe with all her life’s practice, her voice remained calm. It was so far from what she was feeling inside that she was sure he would burst if she held it in any longer. “I killed Lizzie in order to save Judith’s life. To keep a very disturbed little girl from murdering your baby girl.”
Her teeth clenched tight together. She thought they would surely crack under the pressure. She took a step back, trying to catch her breath and reel herself back in. “Do not throw all of that away. Not for anything more than absolute certainty.” And they’d never have that.
Not in this life.
