I love how lmk handled Mk's anxiety and self-destructive tendencies. Like no one really got mad at him for overthinking, or doubting things. The most they did, like Pigsy or Wukong in particular, was firmly tell him he didn't need to worry. He didn't need to hoard maguffins, or do everything on his own, or anything else. And even when he wouldn't listen, they weren't mad at Mk. Mad he didn't realize his family was right there? Mad he made them worry so much? Sure. But never was Mk scolded to such a degree it hurt, and pushed him away.
I think a good many shows could take notes from it.
Do you think Mk has any super strength? Cause the staff is 13,500 pounds, and idk if it's a Thor's Hammer kinda deal, or if he's just ridiculously strong. And if so, was there ever a time Mk had an Amazing Spider-man-esque morning where he crushed a doorknob and broke his (priceless, limited edition, Monkey King) alarm clock? Is that smth that could still happen when he's sleep deprived and forgets normal metal breaks like kitkats in his hands?
(Yes I am aware Im late. That's my whole brand. Shut.)
Anyway. This is specifically about the last bits cause of course it is.
*ahem *
Cant find a GIF but yknow that bit, when Leo tells Casey to basically pull the plug, to let him die, and the kid grabs the key to do so. But he doesnt do it right away and you can see the struggle so clearly its amazing.
Theres Casey knowing he will be the cause of losing Leo again, in such a short time. He doesnt want to. This is his father figure/uncle. This is one of the only comforts he knew and he has to be the one to kill it. And then there's resolve that its the right thing to do.
Its almost like Casey was trying to impersonate Future Leo, a person he looked up to, who made hard choices for the good of everyone.
But then the bravery is gone, crumbling at his feet and Casey doesnt want to make the hard choice. This is still a kid. This is still someone who a few hours earlier had watched his world die. Every last bit of it.
He doesn't even look when he finally does it. And he doesn't stay put and pull, he runs away.

The moment the portal shuts Leo stops fighting.
The moment his brothers are safe he just stops.
There is no brave front, no stoic decree that he will make the Kraang's life hell or take revenge somehow more than he has. He's done.
However almost everyone I see writing this bit in fanfics always makes it sound like he didn't care about dying and that isn't true. He wants to live. He's crying, wanting his family to hold him and be in the good times again so he holds onto the picture. But he's genuinely too tired to do much and he knows there's nothing he can do anyway. Doesn't mean he doesn't still want there to be.
Who says sacrifices arent scared of dying?

The fact the boys gave it everything they got and all the Kraang had to do was flick a finger. That is terrifying and such an awesome way to display the villain's power. They have no hope of defeating it, and its not hard to see how the Kraang took over the world in a different timeline. To have the turtles do all that and it to be brushed away as a little less than an inconvenience. Horrifying. Good job.

Call it talking about something obvious, but I love the scenes we see that we thought was the end, with Leo gone forever. Cause at that point the world was saved, people were probably celebrating if they could see it happening, but to our heroes there was no victory. To them the end is as devastating as if they had lost. The background behind Casey as he clutches Leo's sword is the same red he grew up with, where death and loss and fear was as common as air.
Donnie is crying, and he shakes his head as he realizes cause no, this cant be reality. This wasn't in his plans. He denies the tears because that means its hurting. And if it's hurting that means that it happened.
Raph is on the ground cause he is the big brother, meant to protect them, and he failed. The grief is piled on by guilt and anger and sorrow and the need to do something but he can't and its too heavy. Even he can't carry all of it.

Fun little tidbit to finish but I love how when Mikey opens a portal to get Leo back, Raph and Donnie also take some of the backlash to that power. Its also a little funny that its the two turtles who were dead when he opened the time gateway, especially since Ninpo is stronger when they are united as a family and he opened that portal alone.
The nights that you feel like just crying and wonder was it the movie or you just doing nothing with your life.
And then you remember it's the fucking uterus bleeding again. Almost a decade I've been through this and shit still gets me. Every month too. Gods, anyone with the powers. Please let me unsubscribe. I don't like this a single bit.
Thinking about how the Dragon People in my comic get their magic.
Its a naturally birth-given thing, but only to "full dragons" not hybrids.
They call it their Stars. A Dragon's Star sits in the center of their chest just below the collar bone. Its not their soul tho. Theres no memories or personalities or anything kept in it. Just purely the source of their magic (which is of course golden orange, and fire based.)
If you were to take a Dragon's Star, they would become very very sickly and will often die, as its the main source of heat regulation. However if you take it from a Dragon who's already died, the Star will remain intact.
Many Dragon families have strings of Stars or wear priceless homemade jewelry containing one or two as a way to keep their loved ones memory alive, to show they lived once. Certain criminals might get their Stars taken away, or someone who died a disgrace might have their leftover Star destroyed. Great warriors and leaders will have their Stars displayed in grand halls, and made to look bigger and grander with glass.
There is only one way a Dragon's Star can change, and that is with how much they love something. If they love good things like nature, other people both Dragon and Human, etc. Their Star will flourish. Some think it is cause the Sun gifted them Stars, and the Sun brings life to other living things (Keep in mind this is a medieval time period).
If a Dragon loves bad things however, like murder or over-power or destruction, the Star will start withering slowly. Its not very noticable at first, and soldiers serving an evil king can go several years without much side effect, but it does slowly destroy them.
A flourishing Star grants even stronger magic; Going as far as to bring the MC back to life simply cause the amulet she was given contained a Star of a Dragon who spent their long life loving everyone around them, and purposely trying to grow their magic.
A withering Star grants blackened veins, painfully cracked skin around it, and will slowly stop preventing its user from being burned by their own fire, or regulating much temperature at all.
Lastly, flourished Stars taken from the dead could heal others, and will almost make whoever wears it their new user of sorts. It only needs to be worn near a heart of someone. Only Dragons or Humans, since their hearts are almost identical. It wont work on animals.
So say a Dragon child is really sick. Their family could take a Star of one of their relatives who'd died, and put it into a necklace or bracelet. When wearing it, the child will recover and stay stable until other help can be had. Dragons think it is a way for their ancestors and passed loved ones to protect their descendants.
With that said, keep in mind that majority of Dragons either debate, don't believe, or don't know that what they love affect their Stars. Most will think decaying Stars are simply another sickness obtained from serious stress on the body or mind, which is why they reason that soldiers and troubled people tend to get it the most.
Thus concludes my world building ramblings (and pls do not use this idea, I really wanna use it in my comic!)
Y’all it’s so nice to get to know someone. Like truly. And having late night conversations. And ugh. Tonight was amazing. And although it’s technically morning. Being able to hang and talk and get to know people is the best thing in the world. I was afraid I wouldn’t know anyone and yet here I am. Living my best life. Things truly do turn around. And life truly gets better
Okay it’s been a while but who cares, this is for myself anyways.
So I’ve been thinking, when does one decide do doubt themselves? When do we think that hey okay maybe just maybe I haven’t done this properly, or that maybe I’m in the wrong. Not wrong exactly, this started off by me wondering if my physics concepts were clear and a little voice said maybe they’re not as a clear as you thought, so when do we decide to rethink and restrategise or whatever is that even a word?
When do we decide to draw the line and how to we stop ourselves from pushing it too far. I don’t think we walk around believing that we’re doing the wrong thing. In our eyes we’re right. When do we decide that we’re wrong. How do we know?
