Laurel/Oliver A+: (trash)OTP
I’m gonna do Lauriver now when both characters are for sure alive on Arrow. I’ll reblog this and talk about Westallen later(B: It’s really cute).
What to say about Lauriver? A lot of the time, I kinda wish I didn’t ship them so much. Oliver is an asshole to her a lot of the time and she deserves better from him (and the show and fandom). But there’s so much history and potential there when Oliver isn’t being an asshole to her and I really always love their dynamic with each other. It’s real and genuine and complicated and messy and when they are written well, when Laurel is given her due and Oliver isn’t an asshole to her they are really something special to me. Even though I don’t want them to be lol.
I just, I really liked Oliver at the start, and quickly fell for Laurel in a way I have fallen for very few characters and the way their story framed season 1 just really worked for me. I mean, The Odyssey! The look on Oliver’s face when he hears Laurel’s voice, how he remembers her number off by heart, how her picture keep him going.. Damn, that was good shit. My lauriver tag is ‘oliver’s laurel eyes’ which just, he has treated her terribly a lot but they way he looks at her sometimes, I can’t let go.
Even though I’m bitter over the fact Laurel hasn’t had her own storyline this season, I think s4 lauriver dynamic might be my second favorite after season 1. I haven’t rewatched the season yet and haven’t done a proper rewatch of the show so I can’t say for certain. I hate the 0/f bullshit this season but I like the way Lauriver is this season. I just wish someone loved Laurel like she deserves. Sometimes Oliver seem like he could but the writing is shit and refuses to go there.
Because of what is maybe coming on 4x18 I’ve been on a special lauriver kick and damn, fandom has pretty much always failed this ship, like they’ve failed Laurel. There’s very little decent actually Lauriver fic. At least there’s plenty of pretty fanvids, which I’ll watch for a long time to come.
