no like… the way he ordered for her all cheeky like, laurel all exasparated and fond of him, the way they seemingly text regularly, the WORLDS LONGEST EYE CONTACT at the end of the scene, the way they’re written as the only two trusted adults on the show.. they’re meeting up to Discuss the Kids. like EQUALS.. and don’t even get me started on when conrad was all nuzzled up in belly’s bosom at the end of the episode like the boy has so many mommy issues. it shouldve been laurel!!!!

^ from the fic i found. like it makes me crazy… he has so many issues with laurel and her many different roles in his life. aunt, second mom, friend, confidant, crush. and she’s the only one who doesn’t sugarcoat things for him, who demands his best, challenges him. not like worlds biggest boy mom susannah who thought her sons could do no wrong or like belly who’s in love with a conrad she made up in her mind when she was a kid. or adam who sees conrad as a failed extension of himself or jeremiah who only sees him as the Better Big Brother. laurel is the only one who treats conrad like a person!!!! and then conrad loses his mom and laurel disappears and all he has: is belly. and his moms dying wish that they end up together. id get fucking fixated too if my moms last words to me was that she wants me to be with belly.. and if my auntsecondmomfriendconfidant abandoned us…. and yet he still finds ways to project his mommy issues onto belly, treating her like she’s what laurel used to be for him. <- aka making himself small, wanting to fit in the palm of her hand, wants belly to save him (from his depression), being vulnerable and difficult. practically begging her to tough love him like laurel would, but instead belly gives up. because she’s not laurel despite how badly conrad wants her to be
