I'm working on getting different moods and lighting from the same flat, base colours using layer modes! (and I just used Blythe because ... why not, it’s been too long since I drew some nice Blythe art)

I think I'm gradually getting the hang of it, but it's still a lot to wrap my head around. XD .. also I just ... wanted to draw a shiny red shirt because I want one ... and they're cool ... and I like them.

Do you have any tips on how to draw lights that actually look like they're glowing?

Hello!

I usually use a combination of the airbrush and gradient (circular mode) tools to make any glowing effects. You can also put a blur filter on some or all lights in the drawing. 

Also you can play with blending/layer modes - the screen and overlay modes produce cool effects if the lights/orbs are on top of other things in other layers. 

Experimenting is the best way to learn!
