England 26 - 25 France

Following a pattern that’s developed since late 2023, England secured yet another result with a tiny margin, edging out the French by a single point.

In true Le Crunch fashion, the teams were inseparable at half time with one try apiece, and never was the point margin higher than the obligatory seven, which of course comes with a converted try.

Breathless and chaotic, a winner wasn’t truly known until the last second, where France had a desperate opportunity to claw back victory at Twickenham, however handling errors saw it snatched away.

England got their first win of the six nations, and with their encouraging performance against Ireland, they could be title contenders this year. France are down, but not out, happy to bounce back against Italy in Rome, while Scotland will face off against Ireland tomorrow, where the winner will truly be on the front foot.

The six nations is very much open at this point, where anyone (except Wales) could take the title. We’ll learn more as the weeks progress.

France 33 - 31 England

In a rip roaring finale that saw the lead change hands multiple times, it was ultimately a penalty that sealed the deal.

A French victory seemed assured until the stroke of halftime, where England ran in three tries in the space of ten minutes either side of the break. This left France chasing the game for the remaining 30, only for a last gasp try and conversion to break English hearts.

With a fairly hapless start to their campaign, England are improving in real time, and Borthwick-ball definitely seems to be working, even if we don’t know what the inner machinations are just yet.

Meanwhile France take second. Whether they deserve it is debatable, considering their results against Scotland and Italy, but with nearly all of the games in this tournament separated by fine margins, it’s a fantastic sign of things to come.

With only Ireland proving overall dominant, and only Wales struggling, the six nations is looking its healthiest in years, if not decades. For neutrals, this is promising, while those supporting their favourites can look forward to (and dread) what’s coming next.

Final scores:

A fantastic tournament, where the mid-section could feasibly be arranged just about any way. Even if some results were… questionable, it was an entertaining few weeks.

What, may I ask, the fuck?

It turns out that under no pressure at all, England somehow thrive.

Trust the men in white to give Ireland palpitations, only to rip out the heart at the last moment. A penalty kick with the clock in the red was all that stopped Ireland from winning this year’s six nations.

What an end to a fascinating tournament. Looking forward to more in July.

Also...I got married 2-and-a-bit months ago, on Jan 31st! ^_^

My mum made my dress (based off a 30s-style Vogue pattern) with vintage 60s lace, I kept all my piercings in, my turquoise hair and wore my glasses. After the ceremony, my husband (!) and I changed into our Docs!

It was the most amazing, special, God-filled, fun day I’ve ever had!

I went to my first protest on Friday, this was my sign.

We marched on April 10th in Melbourne city against the forced removal of Aboriginal people from their homes in Western Australia.
