one of the best pieces of advice I've ever heard (for myself, at least) is that if you're in a terrible mood and NOTHING is helping, then start doing the chores/responsibilities/job stuff/etc that you've been putting off. Will it put you in an even worse mood temporarily? Probably, but you're already pissed off, so you might as well double up on it at that point 😭 there's no loss. It's not like finally getting around to cleaning the house and scheduling appointments is going to ruin the good day that you aren't currently having to begin with 💀 And then, when the bad mood passes, you'll have gotten shit done and you'll feel a lot better later, even if in the moment you're having The Worst Time Ever about it.

"Bitches" and "women" are used interchangeably in so many contexts. It's everywhere in top 40 songs. It's wild to claim that it's not a gendered word at all, esp when the literal meaning is "female dog". Like if u don't care about using slurs, then just admit that. But don't try to pretend like it's not one. The fact that it's widespread and normalized doesn't make it not a slur, it just shows how deep sexism is still ingrained in our culture.

I would also like to add that "anyone can be called one" isn't really true either, because calling a man a bitch is different from calling a woman a bitch. When a woman is called that, it's because she was mean, voicing her opinion or saying no. When a man is called that, it means he is weak (men call each other a little bitch to mean coward) and they're comparing him to what they think a woman is, aka weak. It always mean woman, they just don't wanna admit it.

the argument that you can call a woman a bitch or cunt because she was a bad person crumbles when you consider that bitch is derogatory towards women specifically and is therefore on the same level as calling said woman any other slur.

would you call her a racial slur? no? then don't call her bitch, cunt, whore... it's that simple!

I was at an event this past weekend joking and I said “My opinion I think everyone should agree with across the political spectrum is that child marriage is bad”

And wouldn’t you know, some guy immediately chimed in with, “Well……. But we can’t judge other cultures for doing what works for them, right? That feels very judgmental!”

Me: “That’s called cultural relativism, and it’s an oppressor worldview. It only works for the oppressors who want to marry little children. It doesn’t work for those being oppressed.”

And he was ready to fight me but you know who jumped in to agree with me and back me up? His grandma 😭😭😭 She was like that is the argument people make to support FGM, do you support that son????

I love older women so much, I love that she didn’t even know me but she had my back 😭😭😭💜

learning that constantly thinking about and analyzing and interpreting my traumas isn’t actually healing . and don’t get me wrong its made me a very effective communicator and emotionally intelligent person. but actually im supposed to be moving on and experiencing new things and happiness and stuff and not just compulsively reliving and recontextualizing the past. oops!

Best therapist I ever had helped me unpack my trauma and then, crucially, helped me pack it away again

Except this time it's all correctly labeled so when I start experiencing issues related to them I'm not just drowning in undefined pain.

I'm like: "ah shit the Childhood Neglect container is leaking all over everything! I better mop it up and put it in a new container"

And sometimes something comes up and I'm like: "ah. This belongs in the religious trauma box. Let me put it away and then I can do art until I feel better"

You unpack your trauma to organise it and correctly label it do you know how to handle it. But you still pack it away so you can live your actual life
