Got my first bark tanned reindeer skin racked up today
There are two wolves inside you: one wants to tell everyone extensively about your project where you skinned a deer using stone tools and are attempting to make leather with tea, the other wants to tell people you have two jars with skin steeping in tea and leave them with no context
Smoking fat tanned sheep, feels like a ritual this full moon. Feels like it binded to my skin and made me softer and stronger
December 4
It got very cold, very fast. I scavenged more seeds from farther east where it wasn't frozen yet.
The pigs are happy, the chickens are starting the 3rd generation. I went north to the desert and it was nice to be warm again. I found half a dozen goats stuck in a hole, left some food for them until I finish building a pen next to the pigs. I want to move them before it gets too cold to move at all.
All of my pickled vegetables are done, those'll stay good for a few years, though I'll probably eat them before that.
Did a lot more hunting while I was exploring east, plenty of hides being processed. I've even gotten enough quality hides to make a warm coat; I hope it helps as winter gets closer and colder.
Its reaching double digits in the negatives now, made the mistake of sleeping outside while I was building, nearly lost a few toes. At least the animals have their winter coats and feathers, I hope they appreciate the shelters I built for them in their paddocks.
I'm not excited for winter to officially start, -15°C is already too cold. At least the cold slows down food spoilage.
I should've prepared better, but I didn't know it would be this cold.
