Assignment #4: Music to My Eyes (Vol.2)
I created this composition inspired by Fazıl Say's composition for Cello Sonato II Hopa. The composition consists of 5 minutes, but I used the 01.56-02.50 seconds interval of this composition in my composition. This piece reminded me of the harshness and dangers of the Black Sea. I used that interval because I thought the seconds interval I used reflected the waves very well. I preferred to use black, white and blue colors in my composition. In addition to black and white, I chose blue to represent the sea.
The meanings of the colors in this composition:
Black: I used the color black to represent the harsh intro and gradations in the piece.
White: I used the color white to represent sounds that sound softer to me when I listen to the piece.
Blue: I used blue as the transition timbre between white and black. Also, I used blue to represent the feeling of the sea.
The meanings of geometrical shapes in this composition:
Triangles: I chose to use triangles for high-pitched and sharp sounds.
Circles: I tried to show the soft and calm parts of the piece with circles.
Squares: I used squares for sounds that sound more dominant and fuller to my ear.
The idea behind my final composition is to make you feel the danger of imbalance in Black Sea waters.
