Ooo, a challenge!

Okay, so some of these I haven't rewatched in a while, not sure if they hold up, but at the time I found the songs/sound tracks/scores not-unpleasant. I dithered over whether your question means it has to include my actual least favorite trope which is "boy picks up a guitar to sing his feelings" But most of the ones I genuinely enjoy only have the pro singing the theme song or refrain, so I would struggle to come up with more than 3. Thus, I gave myself not limits.

Okay, enough prevaricating.

10 BLs Where I Actually Enjoyed the Music, Songs, Singing

Eternal Yesterday - Ayumu Imazu's Sunshower is hands down still my most favorite song of all BL. It remains in rotation on several of my playlists. Be warned, this BL will break your heart.

Ingredients - bet you never expected some obscure Thai BL that was everyone's "covid-bound emotional support convenience store commercial" to come in at number 2? But I actually adore Jeff's work, I own a number of his songs (esp Black Tie & Steel the Show). In general, I'm not a huge fan of the synth circus alt-rock, but Jeff sure sets a mood.

Happy Ending Romance - terrible show but OMG Leo of Vixx is in it and sings the ots, I Still. I'm an old school 3rd gen Kpop stan and he is my Vixx bias. The idol with the buttercream voice who specializes in evil and creepy. He was well cast, but really all that matters is that he flipping sings.

Color Rush - over all, I just really sound track for this show, 2 of its theme songs live on in my most calming playlists.

Love Tractor - I enjoys most of the songs and music for this one = inoffensive. Rainbow even made it onto a playlist or two.

Wish You - it's about the singing, so the main song is played on repeat a lot, but I never minded it. I think it's amusing that Lee Sang has the better voice but never gets to really sing in the show. Don't get me wrong, Kang In Soo is fine, but I like Sang's vocal tone better. Still, a good song, and a lovely ending duet.

Oxygen - I have never made any bones about the fact that I love Nut's voice and that I adore the way he acts using it. But if you binge this show you will get tired of that song, he does a good job on it I have to admit.

Addicted (original) - I think the background music was just very well chosen in this one, it always added and never detracted from the show itself.

Dark Blue Kiss - I unironically adore the wildly melodramatic score for this show, including the credit sequences. It's so not BL but that's why I love it.

A Tale of Thousand Stars - as opposed to this one where the score perfectly suited the show and nothing felt forced. It's the music not the singing, that worked for me. (We are going to ignore the flute. As is right and proper.)

The original Love Sick and 2gether both had singing in them that didn't bother me much at the time. I also didn't know any better. But I was never upset by it, and it usually had relevancy to the plot and tenor of the show. Love Sick in particular is kind of insightful into That musical styles etc... at the time, so it's fine.

A LOOK BACK at Kang In Soo & Sang Yi (or Sang-i)

WISH YOU: YOUR MELODY FROM MY HEART (2020, SOUTH KOREA)

Perhaps not everyone's cup of tea, but this simple story tells the story of two people that seem to complete one another though from different worlds essentially but with one thing in common...music.

Sang-I (LEE SANG) is immediately smitten with handsome singer Kang In Soo (KANG IN SOO) on sight knowing little about him other than his beautiful voice and beautiful exterior.

Working part time at a record company, Sang-I brings Kang In Soo's music to his boss via a Online video. The label wants to work with the talented artist but have many rules including him living where they specify.

Kang In Soo gives in to all demands except moving, so the record label requests one of their people stay with him and luckily Sang-I is selected.

While living together and arranging Kang In Soo's song WISH YOU the two grow close.

During a moment on a rooftop Sang-I can't resist and kisses In Soo. When he sees In Soo's reaction he apologizes and leaves. In Soo (who was suppose to stay the night with Sang-I) also leaves after the kiss saying he can't stay over.

As his record is about ready to release, the label pulls the plug. Come to find out Kang In Soo is from a very wealthy family and his father doesn't support his musical aspirations. And as it happens Kang In Soo's father is THE CHAIRMAN of the board.
