I must confess, as an 80s child, I never took much to She-Ra, though. Which is extra funny because I watched the shit out of He-Man. I REALLY ENJOYED ORKO OKAY. For whatever reason, though, She-Ra never clicked with me then.

That said, I’ve seen all of the new series, AND I LOVE IT.

I HAD THE SAME ISSUES. Tangled World was also pretty much a retell but at least SDG felt involved with the story, and Rapunzel and Eugene? Where as W4 was just….here, we know you like the movie so here it is again.

I’m laughing bc I was referring to Tangled World as W4 because ‘idk would people count the town’. the sheer amount of cutscenes that didn’t involve SDG that were shot for shot was WILD. (tho i did cry at the lights, so). like it’s kingdom hearts I don’t expect much from the plot but that was...a lot of cutscene I already recognized

looks like the world I just got to is going to be RETREAD: AFTER THE MOVIE EDITION whatever I just got there and am having fun even if I am laughing at sora’s fursona. ...unless you’re referring to the /other/ W4 possibility even tho the battle level is higher which....yeah

there’s something about the idea that Michiru can be really, really loved for exactly who she is, and not her 100 masks, that I really fucking adore

and it takes her years to get there, and one day it hits her, that like, Rei, actually just..likes her. Haruka just loves her. Not for her family name, not for her cultivation, just because Michiru is interesting and smart and insightful and even the ways she is out of touch are funny and cherished,just like the ways Usagi is a disaster, that SHE IS ALLOWED TO BE IMPERFECT AND LOVED?? that shakes her world.

🔥 and movies?

This isn’t as unpopular as it used to be but: Forrest Gump is a piece of shit movie and that includes the music, the thing people always act like is unimpeachable when you criticize how stupid or sexist that film is. But it isn’t! The music itself is good, but film music is about how you use it and Forrest Gump’s music is the most cliché ‘60s selections used in the most treacly ways. Like playing this song right after some guy asks “Wanna go to San Francisco?” and playing the lyric from the Doors’ “Love Her Madly” about “don’t you love her as she’s walking out the door” as a woman literally walks out the door. Also, as much as I hate saying good things about Woody Allen, he was doing the “insert yourself into preexisting footage” thing a decade earlier with Zelig, so Forrest Gump wasn’t “groundbreaking” on that front either.

Also in terms of Unpopular On Tumblr: La La Land is a good fucking movie and while Moonlight deserved to beat it, and it doesn’t deserve to be the focus of every fucking figure skating routine this season either, it deserved to be nominated for and win a whole bunch of awards. And even if the singing could have been better the songs themselves were great.
