Today I picked my first batch of lemon cucumbers! I’m so excited!

Well. The bigger of my two rabbits figured out how to get onto my nightstand, where I had stored my packet of lemon cucumber seeds. I originally thought that that was the end of that and I wouldn’t get to try to raise them again but…
Not all hope is lost.
The low temps are slowly getting higher in my area, which means that I’ll have the screened in (And mildew free) porch to raise some babies without worrying about them dying as soon as they get their first true leaves. This little guy is going to be the first resident 😊
Oh, and a picture of the culprit:
He knows what he did.
Slowly corn is growing, I have watermelon transplants, and set up the new plot with lemon cucumber seedlings— protected with chicken-wire from all the cats blasting though the yard 😔
2 days in and they're sprouting! They're lemon cucumbers, I've never heard of them but they look cool
Hehehehehe. It looks like my little lemon cuke is doing perfectly well in the closet garden so that is where he shall stay
Bonus picture of the sticker that I left for my plants and keep forgetting to take down:
Hopefully he can, indeed, do this
IDK IF THIS IS MILDEW
BUT IT WON’T BE FOR LONG
Plant lemon cucumber seeds in rows or hills after the soil has warmed to 55 F. (12 C.), usually mid- to late-May in most climates. Allow 36 to 60 inches (91-152 cm.) between each plant; lemon cucumbers may be the size of tennis balls, but they still need plenty of room to spread out. Here we go again… I’m planting a lemon cucumber. I had one before but it was the first casualty in the Mildew Saga and I’m sad that I lost it because I never got the chance to harvest anything from it. I raised that one in my downstairs garden and I feel like it didn’t do as well as it could have, so as long as this guy does well under the grow light, I’d love to raise it in my closet like I raised miniature pumpkins in 2020:
Was it a dumb idea? Yes! Would I do it again? Hell yes!
