and yeah like in the end of the saga, ciri kills bonhart, she kills that sick son of a bitch because he tortured and abused her, and it’s treated as the unequivocably right thing to do. so i feel like ppl saying “omg this story is about how abused people seeking revenge is always wrong” are just missing the point and only ever watched the netflix adaptation of it bc that’s definitely not what the short story is about

also i think “twn tried to make [female character] a #girlboss sexy [profession]” also applies to like. every other female character in the series lol

question: do you have any game recommendations (TTRPG or steam games on the cheaper side) for fans of the expanse? i just binged the whole thing and now im in the mood for games in that vein, although im not sure whether its the sci fi setting or the politicking and cultural power dynamics i want more

As far as tabletop RPGs go, if you don’t mind your mechanics being a touch old-school, you might have a look at Stars Without Number. It comes in both free and paid versions, but the free version includes almost* everything you’d need to run an Expanse-inspired game -- the paid version’s extra modules are mostly stuff like giant robots, magic systems, and transhuman body-swapping shenanigans that wouldn’t really come up given your source material.

* I say “almost” because player characters are pretty low-powered by default, and the “Heroic PCs” module is one of the ones that’s reserved for the paid version. Depending on how actiony you’re planning for your game to be, it might be worth springing for the extra twenty bucks.

it’s not even really a prank on his friend honestly, the only people impacted were the friends wife (upset over someone else wearing white at her wedding when she was the bride) and his girlfriend (humiliated by being tricked into committing one of the most famous wedding faux pas).
