Sis bought this pair of Yomogi Daifuku (艾草大福) from Country Brot by Four Leaves Bakery. These mochi with filling comes in two flavours – Original (White) and Mugwort (Green). They are made fresh daily and stuffed with low sugar red bean 🫘 paste. The green wagashi’s colour comes from mugwort leaves 🌿 and offer a more aromatic flavour compared to the plain white pounded rice cake. Price wise, it is on the expensive side costing S$2 each or two for S$3.80.

"really? not an old fashioned?" the guy cant help but ask, feels odd to hear logan ordering something that sounds in any way cosmopolitan. old fashioned just sounds like his drink, sounds like log cabins and guilt complexes and long nights pouring misery over a mixed drink

logan rolls his eyes as he pulls out a stool and seats himself. "too sweet."

casey is hilariously unaffected at their grandfathers funeral. what is death??? apparently it’s the thing where they never have to see their grandpops ever again.

A couple of my colleagues introduced me to the Nutella Biscuits. Chanced upon NTUC supermarket offering it at S$4.84 for a resealable pack of 14 biscuits inside. The biscuit crust is very crunchy though the Nutella filling is a tad too sweet for me as I don’t have a sweet tooth. Paired it with my Teh Siu Dai or milk tea less sweet to even out the sweetness.

Took the free shuttle bus to Sembawang Shopping Centre and headed straight to XO Minced Meat Noodle (XO 肉脞麵). Ordered lor mee, albeit with different toppings for the both of us plus Kopi O (Coffee Black) for mum and Teh Siew Dai (milk tea less sweet) for myself.

Mum had the Chicken Cutlet Lor Mee (鸡排卤面) which featured a piece of fried chicken cutlet sliced up and tempura crisp bits. While I took the classic Lor Mee (卤面) with bean curd roll, crispy dumpling, fishcake slices, braised egg and braised pork belly.

Shown here are two popular Dim Sum (点心) items - Fried Prawn Dumplings (明虾角) and Spring Rolls (春卷) with a cup of Teh Siew Dai or in simple English, milk tea less sweet. I have also included a video (not mine) on the making of the fried prawn dumpling.

There goes my last mooncake from my stash accumulated during Mid-Autumn Festival (中秋节). This one is White Lotus Seed Paste Mooncake with Egg Yolk (美心蛋黄白莲蓉月饼) from Hong Kong MX (香港美心月饼) and I am slowly savouring it with a cup of less sweet milk tea. Pardon the dirty kitchen towel as those are oil stains from the egg yolk. Between small bites and sipping the tea, I am already looking forward to next year’s celebration. :D
