Went for our weekly grocery shopping and dropped in to XO Minced Meat Noodle (XO 肉脞麵) for an early dinner. Mum chose her Lor Mee (卤面) while I picked the XO Minced Meat Noodle (XO 肉脞面) with thin yellow noodles and added chilli paste. Both bowls of noodles are priced at a very reasonable S$4.50 each considering the amount of ingredients given.

Mum wanted noodles so we went back to XO Minced Meat Noodle (XO 肉脞麵) at Sembawang Shopping Centre. She decided to go with the S$4.50 bowl of Lor Mee (卤面). Came with braised pork bellies, half a braised egg, bean curd roll and fishcake slices drenched with dark brown gravy thickened with corn starch plus a crispy dumpling and tempura bits.

First time ordering the S$6.50 Tom Yum Mini Pot Noodle (冬炎小碗面) which came with a soup pot with food candle underneath and noodles in a separate bowl. A spoonful of the soup jolted up all the taste buds with that sourness and spiciness. The noodles are springy and the crunchy of tempura bits add to the different overall textures.

Took the free shuttle bus to Sembawang Shopping Centre and headed straight to XO Minced Meat Noodle (XO 肉脞麵). Ordered lor mee, albeit with different toppings for the both of us plus Kopi O (Coffee Black) for mum and Teh Siew Dai (milk tea less sweet) for myself.

Mum had the Chicken Cutlet Lor Mee (鸡排卤面) which featured a piece of fried chicken cutlet sliced up and tempura crisp bits. While I took the classic Lor Mee (卤面) with bean curd roll, crispy dumpling, fishcake slices, braised egg and braised pork belly.

My office canteen’s version of the Lor Mee (卤面) or Braised Noodle (S$3.50) chocked full of fried battered fish chunks, pieces of ngoh hiang, slices of fishcake, braised egg and bean sprouts with yellow noodles.
