Hey some of these are... hard as heck
H/C or amnesia is a weird one bc H/C is so common that’s it’s always fun, but I LOVE amnesia as a trope? All the little kernels they remember over time or spurred by specific events? Love that shit. I think it kind of naturally falls into the H/C genre anyway
Fantasy v Modern is a matter of vibe at the moment of searching
[Edit cuz I’m dumb and I missed it] Mutual Pining v Domestic Bliss I adore both of these very much. Pining connects to slow burns and domestic has a very solid feel to it that gets past the initial romance and lets people be loving dorks on main forever without copious amounts of second hand embarrassment (which also has its place! But I digress)
Canon-compliant v Fix-it in this fandom? They’re one in the same lmao
One-shot v Multi both are great! Sometimes I wanna be wooed so I’m swimming in chapters, but sometimes a one shot just bundles you up in a sweater of emotions and you’re like ‘Ah, this fits just right ^_^’
Time Travel v Isolation is an interesting dyad because I don’t seek out time travel that much but love when it’s well put together. I prefer going to places as opposed to specifically meeting past/future self, but I’d be hypocrite if I said I didn’t use those once or twice xD. Isolation breeds introspection, and those stories usually deep dive into psyche and relationships, and I adore them
Apocalyptic v Mundane there’s something special about both. Apocalypse brings about heroes, mundane lets us find magic in the things we do everyday
Also, can someone explain to me why the fake dating au is so popular? I’m not bashing it at all, it’s clearly popular, but I have never really had someone explain to me WHY it was appealing, nor have I understood that myself.
