Oh? Oh??? This past week has been brutal for a lot of Sandman fans. I too have succumbed to despair and today was one of my worst days. But like a flash out of nowhere this video came to my mind of Tom reading a letter by Henry James to his friend Grace Norton. I had written down this letter on a piece of paper and hung it on my wall during the last, very intense days of my PhD and when I was on the ruthless academic job market. When I moved to my new place, I must have thrown the paper and forgotten about it. Back then I used to share this video with many friends who were going through a tough time in their respective graduate programs. And today I felt like Dream in some way had mercy on me and reminded me of this. The fact that Tom is reading this makes it all the more meaningful.
If anyone is struggling with grief and sorrow, I hope you get some peace from these lines too.
