Letter to My 25-Year-Old Self
Dear 25 Year-Old Self,
So, how’s the 25-year-old Trizia been doing? Good? Ugh. Guess what? You’re making me anxious right now though I shouldn’t be. I’m just worried about the future me. I’m worried about how I am going to take my 17-year-old feet to the right path of life. I’m sorry, I have completely no idea what to tell you right now lol. But hey! I think I’m writing this letter to cheer you up and to give you some pieces of motivation.
For all that, I want to know what you have become as an adult.
Have you already gotten a diploma? Please don’t try to disappoint me. Tell me you graduated college. And that, you took Accountancy without any hesitation but with great courage. It doesn’t need to be Accountancy, by the way. At least any course that will give you title and honor. By this time, I hope that you have already made your family proud. And that, you have already contributed something big to them.
Are you already working on a decent high-paying job? Prolly yes? Prolly no? Prolly in Manila. Prolly anywhere. I believe you are! I know you won’t let yourself work in a job that pays a penny per hour. I hope that you are enjoying your work. Keep on working girl! More work, more money. Remember, you promised yourself a big well-architected house and a fancy BMW car. Don’t forget to give, btw. Please always keep yourself on the ground if ever you’ve become that successful. Don’t forget to look back.
Ahem. What about a kind, good-looking boyfriend? Do you already have one? Tell me, have you already felt true and genuine love by this time? You probably had your first or second heart break. Are your standards still as high as Burj Khalifa? I hope not. Guess you should already try to find the person destined for you. It’s now or never, Trizia. If you keep your standards as high as Burj Khalifa, you’d die alone. I assure you lol.
Have you become successful? Or a total failure? I want to know what has changed. I want to know how the 25-year-old me looks like. I want to know more about you. Are you still friends with your junior and senior high school friends? Introduce me some of your college friends. I want to meet and know them. How many are them? Are they good friends? I’m dying out of curiosity! Tell me everything new about you. Please leave a photo of you in the comment box. Don’t try to give me a messed up and an ugly looking face. Just please. Take good care of your body and health.
Anyway, I hope you’re already living the life you wanted. Life is unpredictable. But, I’m pretty sure you already do. If you find that you’re not, try to gather the courage to start all over again. Our life does not always turn out the way we planned it to be, and that’s okay. Sometimes, life isn’t really fair. If you have committed some big mistakes in life, fix them. Things will get better. Problems will get fixed. Everything you planned will fall into their proper places. You’re only 25. It is never too late to be the person you’ve secretly wanted to be. Just be patient and you’ll be fine. You should never be fearful of rejection and failure. They come naturally in life. Befriend with them for them to be nice to you. Make it as a way to reach success. Now, I want you to remember to keep on doing things that matter. Do what you want to do. Do something you’re passionate about. Go where you want to go. Travel the places you wished to travel back when you were a wanderlust wanna-be. Always take chances. It’s not too late to be tumblr aesthetic. It is never too late to wear nice clothes. Take good photos. Be a photographer. Make a blog. Vlog yourself out. Do not put your dreams and desires on hold. Achieve your dreams with hard work and determination. Let the bad things that has happened to you just be part of your past. Let go of it and make the best out of today.
In the end, you are still the one to choose the decisions you are going to take. Please, don’t you ever stop until you’re proud and contented with your life. I hope you listen to me. We both have a responsibility in making this life more meaningful. But I, the 17-year-old you, am more responsible of what you have become today. Believe me, I’ll do anything not to disappoint you. I promise to do my part but you should also promise me that you’ll do yours. You can make it. Just always remember to TRY AGAIN WHEN YOU FAIL!
Yours Truly, The 17-Year-Old Trizia

A Letter to my 25-Year-Old Self
25-year-old me—you!
This is your 17-year-old self speaking—writing? Anyway... *deep breathes*
Do you freaking know that you are one of the reasons why I am having a hard time in school right now? Writing a letter to you IS A REQUIREMENT AND IT'S ALMOST THE DEADLINE! Send futuristic help pls ;-;
I don't wanna begin this with a how are you, but I am starting this with a how are you; I can't think of a better way to start.
How are you, Vince? Please tell me you are living the life you wanted now. Tell me you passed the board exam 2 years ago. Tell me you graduated with flying colors 3 years ago. Tell me you were a good third year 5 years ago. Tell me you weren't an awkward hooman 7 years ago. Tell me you passed the UPCAT 8 years ago.
8 years ago... 8 years ago you were so confused about your life. Can't remember it, 25-year-old me? I can; your 8 years ago is the present for me.
Presently, I am trying my best to review for the upcoming UPCAT this October. Maybe you can come here, visit me in my dreams and tell me the answers. I honestly wanna be one of UPCAT's top 50 passers (yeah, this is the 17-year-old you dreaming high). Kidding aside, did you enjoy the UPCAT 8 years ago? Bet it was a fun experience despite the pressure, anxiety, and every negativity you felt. Were there many exam takers during d-day? Saw cute humans? 🙈 I am soooooo excited to take the examination and know your answers to those questions!
But, enough talks about me. Let's talk about you—wait, you and me, we are the same living being, right? Or not? You're technically older than me now. Plus, you are more mature, taller, heavier, more intelligent, more handsome, and there more money in your pocket Hope my descriptions are accurate af. Don't wanna be called conceited. Heh. You've had 25 years to make yourself a better person. Twenty-five. Long. Years. Wow, let that sink in in the next paragraphs.
You are 25 now. Have you accomplished a lot of your life goals? I don't actually expect much considering it has just been 3 years since you graduated in college. However, I do expect you to have gone to a few countries *coughs* South Korea is your priority! *coughs*. I also expect you have met Lina, Kevin, Taka, Red aka Julia, Chae aka Muireann, and Blue aka Patrick. Please don't freaking tell me you lost one of them. They are really great people. Do you still remember how happy you were when you met them in KPop Amino? That was pure bliss right there. Who knew you'd have close internet friends considering how hella awkward you were in person during your teenage years? Hah, nobody, not even I.
Have you gone to a concert or two? Do you have a physical album collection now? Do you still listen to KPop? Boi please say yes. KPop is the best thing that's happened in your life; don't forget that. Do you still stan the same groups you stanned 8 years ago? Bet you don't; you're an unloyal ass anyway 😶 Still, never forget the girls that made your senior high school amazing: Red Velvet and Blackpink. They are all your wives, but you love Seulgi and Jennie the most.
Are you using one of the latest flagship phones now? Note 16, perhaps? (Ew that 16 there doesn't sound good 😂) How does it feel? Does it work as fast as the speed of light? What are the new features? Wait, don't tell me you're an iSheep now? Istg I'ma kill you. Unless the latest iPhone is way, waaaaaay better than the iPhone in 2017 and among all other phones in the competition, I don't approve you using that trash. Just, no. Simply a waste of money. Lina will agree. She'll tell you, in her cute German accent: "iPhones sind scheisse."
Speaking of German, are you fluent in a handful of languages now? Korean? Japanese? Latin? French? Italian? German? Chinese? ENGLISH? Hah. I hope you're still as interested in mastering them as you were 8 years ago. They will come in handy. I swear. And, random fun fact: I wrote this mostly in English in order for you to remember how bad your command of the language was 8 years ago 😂
Do you also remember how bad you were in socializing in person? I've written this earlier, but let me repeat it: you were so freaking awkward when around people you don't know when you were an adolescent. And that's what I hope has changed about you. Don't be afraid of being around people you aren't close with. Don't be afraid of interacting with people. Don't be afraid of making new friends. I'm trying to get rid of that fear. For us two.
There is also another thing that I hope has changed about us. Are you true to yourself now? Are you showing the people around you the true you? 8 years ago, you were only being true to your internet friends, especially to Lina. It was really difficult to pretend, right? Living a life that you don't want, a life full of self-restrictions in order to belong to the majority and please others, a life full of pretentious acts to avoid judgment, a life that can't be called life—that life, it's over right?
Lol things got serious all of a sudden 😅 RIP Vince. This 17-year-old you is just hoping that you are a better Vince there. I can feel that you are, actually. Because hello, I don't want to be a helpless 25-year-old.
*cricket sound*
Oh well, I think this letter needs to end here, huh? I still have lots to tell you, tbh, but I don't have all day, plus I'm too lazy—we know that—to tell you everything. You'll probably remember your young self after reading, anyway...
... Or not. I just remembered you have poor memory. Sucks. Your loss. Life before 25 was great, hardships and problems notwithstanding (hah big word 😎Did I use it right, hm?), and if you can't remember every single event there, then you are missing out on a lot of amazing things. Boo.
– Vince, 082017
Dear Me,
I am sorry I have hurt you.
It has taken me so many years until now to realize that the one love you deserved the most all along was from me. I'm sorry I never know how to love you and the pain you felt when it was easier not to love you at all. The thing is, you are the one that needs my love he most and I was the one who treated you the worst.
I spent most of my life judging how you looked - telling you all the time that you weren't pretty enough, thin enough, and good enough. When you tried to rise and be strong, I would put all kinds of doubt in your mind instead of supporting you with love. I even made you believe that the opinions of others were most important. I made you believe that if someone hurt you it was all your fault. I made you believe that your worth was based on other people's opinions and actions. But I am telling you now, I was wrong.
I was wrong to make you believe that anyone who didn't see you for you mattered. They don't. I know you spent so much energy trying to get approval of others because I never gave it to you. This only put you in situations over and over again where you felt destroyed inside. You felt broken when someone you loved hurt or betrayed you because you believed your worth depended on the love you received from them.
The truth is... you are an amazing loving soul. All the things you view as imperfections are what make you the beautiful person you truly are. Love deeply the ones who see you for you and love you unconditionally. Let go of those who don't. For the ones who choose to hurt instead of love are battling their own self worth issues. I'm telling you, they should not have a single affect of how you view yourself.
I realize now the importance of telling you to let go of what no longer serves you. The love you have to give is only worthy to those who understand this. I see now the thoughts that I've put in your mind have damaged you and caused so much emotional pain. You have suffered depression and anxiety because I blamed you for never being good enough for anyone... especially me.
These thoughts came from experiences I had as a child and never learned how to process them. I see now the thoughts I gave you of trust issues, fears of abandonment, and the need to be loved even in unhealthy ways came from experiences that were not my fault. I have learned from these circumstances. They no longer need to define who I am, they no longer need to reflect negatively on you.
I am sorry for not loving you all these years, but I'm learning how to now. From this day forward, I promise to make choices each day to be more supportive, more encouraging, and more loving to you than the day before. I believe this will, in turn, reflect out from you for everyone around you to see you are even more amazing that you already were all along.
Love,
Me.
To My Dear Centenial Self
Write a letter to your 100-year-old self. My dear centenial self, Even in my craziest dreams, I never thought I would write a letter to you-:) But you made it to live one century, and you deserve to be celebrated. I’m very curious about how the world functions where you are. Is it true that there are more robots than people on earth? Is your life easier and better than now when the army…
Dear Self
I recently read and shared a post about the "let them" theory and how it changed the way the author of that post deals with people in his life. I'm applying it now in my life. It's liberating to realize that what people think of you, even the closest to you, doesn't matter as long as you know your truth. I am happy to learn that "your people" will always be willing to be part of your life. You will never need to impose or beg for it. Even how "toxic" you can be, the right people will just be there. They might not be present for a while, but they will always choose to stay. Because you are never too much for the right people.
Those who choose not to stay do not mean they are a bad person or a friend. They are simply not your people and it's okay. You are not the right person for everyone as well, myself.
Love you always.

A Letter to Self: Turning Negative into Positive Dear You, There's no need for those negative thoughts to get in the way. Knowing that you always have these negative thoughts kept out of the way for good. You allow those positive thoughts to get the better of you. Allowing things to go much better than ever. You take responsibility for being more open and honest with yourself. Be that kind of muse. Let your thoughtful self become that better person with more positive thoughts. Be strong. Be you.
