you should date lev lumos! he's like way into star wars and you kind of look like the girl in it.
Would he buy me a lightsaber and compose me a better theme song in order to help me fulfill my destiny? Would my lightsaber help me cut a portal to Wonderland in the air wherever I went?
@leverettlumos
I ship you with ______!
You should steal Lev's girlfriend. I bet she'd like you better once she got to know you.
Why would I ever do that? If I’ve said it once, I’ve said it one thousand times, Lev is one of the sweetest, funniest, and most stand-up people I’ve ever met. If you are lucky enough to be with Leverett Lumos, there is no liking anyone better than Leverett Lumos. But thank you for thinking so highly of me that you would suggest that. Really.

HERE’S TO US → LEVASIN
TAGGING → Kalasin Ambrosius & Leverett Lumos (@leverettlumos)
TIMELINE → February 17th, 2018
SETTING → The garden, Charming Dance Hall
SUMMARY → Kalasin decides to brave the Valentine’s Dance despite how terrible it was for her last year... and in the end, she’s very glad she does.
Kally had been telling herself for weeks now that the best thing for her to do was to go to the Valentine's Ball, to try and have an okay night and put the trauma of last year's event behind her. It didn't hurt to wake up to another Fab-less day anymore, like it had for so long after the dance; they were in a good place, good friends again, and her romantic feelings had... landed elsewhere. Still, every step towards the Charming Dance Hall had felt heavy, like a part of her still thought this night was cursed and something bad was bound to happen. And maybe she'd set herself up for it, too; bad memories mixed with new, stupidly high hopes that her 100% compatible match might be Lev fought with each other inside of her mind, and by the time she was in the garden Kally was too nervous to even really enjoy the ambiance and the decorations. Instead, she sat next to some indistinguishable plant, running her fingers through her straightened hair, letting the heel of her orange ballet flat slip off of her foot then slap back against the bottom of it. She probably looked like a mess of nervous ticks to anyone watching her, but so far, none were making a beeline towards her anyway; they were all wandering towards their own matches, while Kally continued to fidget and look around for the boy with the Millenium Falcon cufflinks, the one that at least could never be as disappointing as last year. Even if it didn't turn out to be Lev -- hell, even if some weird twist of fate put her with Fab this year -- nothing would hurt the way that last year's mismatch had, and Kally kept clinging to that 'it can't be that bad' mentality as agonizing seconds ticked by...
Lev was much less nervous for the Valentine's Day ball than he'd ever been before. As much fun as it might be to find out who he'd matched with - a perfect 100% match, actually, which was pretty neat - he knew that at the end of the day, a dance was just a dance. It wouldn't change how he felt, not at all, and so he was walking into the garden with the confidence of a guy who knew where his heart belonged. It belonged to a little blue-eyed girl who'd maybe straightened her hair for the night and who would be happy to see him even if they weren't paired up. And they probably wouldn't be. Life had been too kind to him lately, introducing him to someone as great as Kally and letting them spend so much time together; even through the doubts and doorbells he couldn't expect that life owed him anything as incredible as being matched up with the girl he liked, right? He kept denying the thought over and over in his brain, scared to jinx his chances, and he kept denying it could be possible even as he spotted a girl sitting besides a plant who might match the description of his date. She had dark hair - straight, not like Kally's - and a yellow and orange dress, and orange flats which meant she was the one, his 100% match. It took only a second to feel her nervous energy from a distance and that was when he knew. It was the way that every step closer he took towards this girl felt like he wanted to take another, that her energy could reach him like that at all. It was weird, but it was what happened when he was with her, both their energies just permeated the air and it felt different, lighter, better - he wondered if she could feel his energy too as he came up to her, practically bouncing with excitement that he'd get to spend the dance with her after all. There were so many things he wanted to say. Should he start by telling her how beautiful she was? Or by calling her Queen of Ramblevania and introducing himself as the King? Was that too lame? No, this was Kally, who he never felt lame around. He should just be himself and say the first thing that came to mind so as soon as he was close enough he held out his hand to show off his cuff links and looked through the mask into her eyes, into those big beautiful blue eyes that he never wanted to stop looking at. “It’s me,” he practically blurted out through a wide smile, feeling too happy to even consider feeling nervous or dumb or anything but overjoyed at the prospect of being face to face with his favorite face.
Kally could feel the air change when her date started to approach her. It wasn’t the usual sense of apprehension that came when someone was tracking you down for something, though; suddenly, everything around her felt lighter, and her eyes darted in the direction of her date. He was too far away to be sure, but it just felt like pieces were falling into place right now, and she couldn’t help but think that it must be Lev. But that was ridiculous, wasn’t it? There couldn’t be any real crackle of electricity just because two people were near each other, and it wasn’t like she had the Force or something. She was just hoping, getting her hopes up too high, and she chewed on the inside of her cheek to keep from smiling too big at something that might all just be in her imagination. The nearer he got, though, the more Kally recognized -- the way he walked, the way he was built, the hint of a smile that had been making her weaker and weaker at the knees every time she saw him creeping out from underneath his mask... It took all of Kally’s chill to not run to him and throw her arms around him. Though they’d talked about how they hoped they ended up with each other, there was still the sense of foreboding hanging over this night, and Kally wondered briefly if she’d ever be able to go to another Valentine’s Ball again and enjoy it fully, without waiting for the other shoe to drop. But then Lev was showing her his cufflinks, and the sound of his voice sent warmth spreading through every inch of her body. All Kally’s worries were forgotten as she stood up from where she’d been sitting, and wrapped her arms around him in a hug as greeting. “I know,” she told him coyly, drawing in a deep breath, taking in his familiar scent mixed with a little bit of cologne that must be saved for special occasions. All it had taken was the familiar feel of his arms around her for this night to already be far better than this night last year, and before she pulled back, Kally pressed a soft kiss to the part of his cheek that wasn’t covered in mask, wishing that she were brave enough to kiss him on the lips instead. She thought maybe he wanted to -- why else would he want to see her somewhere far away from a doorbell, when that was the very thing their two closest calls had been interrupted by? But it was too scary; last year, she’d lost Fab, even if she’d then found him again. She wouldn’t take any big chances that might make her lose Lev, too, no matter how much she felt that pull towards him. “I’m really glad it’s you,” Kally said once she was in her own space to breathe again, although the air felt heavy now for a different reason, rife with the tension of it being ‘the most romantic holiday of the year’ and her trying so hard not to push Lev into something romantic that he might not want the same way she did. And so, Kally did what came so easily around Lev; she cracked a joke, teasing, “Although if you had to actually track down my real date, knock him out, and steal his Millenium Falcon cufflinks to be here with me tonight, don’t tell me, I don’t want to be complicit in your crimes.”
Lev 's heart skipped a beat as she responded with the traditional Han/Leia or even Poe/Rey greeting. It was unbelievable and overwhelmingly the most romantic moment he'd ever felt in his life as he wrapped his arms around her as well. The familiar feel and smell took him to a place he felt comfortable and safe and happy, the happiest he could ever remember feeling. He let out a sigh of relief as he held her, the sigh that he'd be holding all night if he'd been paired with someone that he wouldn't enjoyed nearly as much. It was soft and nice and he could've stayed in that moment forever, even including the kiss cheek below his mask. He wished she'd kissed his lips instead, his crush on her too strong to exist within normal boundaries, but if she didn't want to that was fine. He just wanted to be near her, around her. And her lips on his cheek remained softly like a ghost and it was honestly all he'd ever needed, being there with her. "I'm so glad it's you too," he exclaimed happily, glad to be able to spend the time with her. "I really hoped it was you." He laughed at the idea of tracking down her actual date and knocking him out to spend time with Kally, although it didn't sound far off from reality with how much he'd wanted to see her. "You said you had a 100% match and I was curious...but I didn't want to jinx it because spending the night with you is all I've ever wanted, " he admitted. "I would've absolutely stolen Millenium Falcon cufflinks if that would've made sure I'd end up here but I didn't. These are mine. And just...wow. Have I mentioned how beautiful you look?" he asked, leaning in to place a gentle kiss on her cheek in return. "Because you look lovely, my Queen of Ramblevania. The most beautiful girl I've ever seen."
Kally ducked her head then looked shyly up at him through her eyelashes. Her cheeks were definitely flushing at the compliment, only this time they were together in person and there was no option to send an ice cream cone as a substitute for the heat spreading across her face. She’d seen girls in lowcut dresses, girls with cleavage spilling out or perfect makeup or slits that left little to the imagination, and she’d almost started to feel underdressed... but with Lev looking at her like that, she really believed that she was the most beautiful girl he’d ever seen, that she outshone anyone else here in the garden or even at the Charming Dance Hall at all. “As long as I’m the most beautiful girl you’ve ever seen, I don’t care what anyone else thinks, my handsome King,” Kally giggled, although jeez, was this easier over text message. He was being so sweet and her stomach was doing flips and she was in so much deeper than she’d thought she’d ever be able to fall for any guy ever again. She just wanted to wrap her arms around his neck again and press up on her tippy toes and plant a soft kiss to his lips and laugh with him, instead of laughing as a way to get out her nerves. No matter how close they were, it seemed like lately it never felt close enough, but for now, with plenty of other people still excitedly finding their dates in the garden, too, Kally settled for quietly slipping her hand inside of his and lacing their fingers together, something too small and subtle to attract others’ eyes. As minor as it was, though, just being out in public, sober and with her hand linked with his, Kally felt on top of the world, like nothing could possibly bring her down. That seemed too good to be true, though; was it really possible that the world had gone from one extreme to the other for her from one year to the next? Maybe there was nothing out to ruin her night but her own suspicions, but Kally couldn’t shake them 100%, no matter how much she felt like she was glowing to realize that she’d get to face this night with the boy she liked by her side. “Shall we go inside so I can show off the fact that my date is the most attractive guy in all of Walt?” she teased, licking her lips involuntarily as she gave Lev a once over. She’d never seen him all dressed up like this before, and she was torn between admiring how dapper he looked and wishing that she could see him wearing nothing at all instead. She’d have to smack Napoleon for that later; even though it probably was her own fault for getting into such weird conversations with her now-date, her roommate and his suggestive comments about the two of them weren’t helping, either! She hoped that being surrounded by more of their classmates would help, and she beamed at him when he nodded and let her gently lead him in the direction of the dance hall. It seemed that plenty of people were already inside -- wow, people didn’t waste any time wrapping themselves around each other or grinding on the dance floor, did they? Kally started to imagine what it would be like once she and Lev were out there, too, and she swallowed hard. She didn’t quite trust herself with the dancing just yet, so they settled by the punch bowl instead, and Kally teased, “Do you think anyone’s spiked it yet? Maybe I should have done the honors this year, since I’m an expert shot-maker now and all.” So far, so good. Aside from the occasional weird thoughts about the things she and Lev could do in a perfect world where they were more than friends, Kally thought she could make it through this night okay... And then, across the room, she saw a glimpse of someone who she was sure could only be Fab, and involuntarily, without even realizing she’d done it, she tensed, squeezing Lev’s hand entirely too hard to try and ward off the triggering memories of bursting into tears on the middle of the dance floor, unable to even make it to the bathroom and hide her heartbreak. The noise, the sounds, the decorations -- she knew technically they were all different, but they were starting to feel all the same, and she stood, wide-eyed and frozen, feeling almost displaced in time. She knew she was with Lev, and that together, they could turn almost anything into one of the best nights of her life -- but there it was in her mind, burning red, the memories of the worst night of her life instead, and Kally sucked in a deep breath, waiting, praying for them to go away.
Lev felt his stomach tighten and his stomach warm just like it would if they were texting each other these things. He liked her so much. So so much, it was almost ridiculous just how happy he was even just standing there with her. He could almost hear electricity crackle at the touching of their hands, the fingers being interlocked feeling even better than he might have imagined it, and he'd imagined it a lot lately. His mind briefly thought about what else they might get to do tonight that he'd been imagining when she complimented him and he could've sworn he saw her lick her lips. Every step by her side and hand and hand closer into the fray sounded a lot like a 'maybe' to him. Maybe she likes you, maybe you'll tell her, maybe this night is going to be the best one ever, maybe she'll kiss you, maybe... "Maybe you should," Lev agreed with a laugh. "It might liven this joint up a little bit." Though, truth be told, he hadn't really looked at the crowd until he said that, and he took a moment to look around. The decorations all looked amazing and the crowd was bright and vibrant and alive. And they were all dancing so close. He wondered if it was too soon to ask Kally to dance or if they'd get to dance like that or if they even could dance like that without him immediately grabbing her to kiss her but as Kally squeezed his hand and he looked back over to the girl he liked so much, his 'date' for the night, he realized that the crowd that looked fun and lively to him looked different to her. He could practically feel the discomfort radiating off of her and it made sense. He knew that last year this had been the worst night of Kalasin's life and he had been so excited about to getting to spend this year with her that he probably should've asked her before then if there was anything he could do to make it easier beforehand, not only now when they were in the belly of the beast. "Hey, what's up? Talk to me. I'm right here," he promised with a smile, squeezing her hand back just a little bit and moving so that was in her line of sight, so that they were a little more cut off from the rest of the dance, just Kalasin and Leverett facing each other. His eyes searched her face for clues and what he really wanted to do was give her a giant hug because it felt like she could use one. He didn't know when he'd become so attuned to what this girl needed and so desperate to give it to her, but he knew that he was far far gone. "Do you want to go outside again for a little bit and get more air? Do you want to actually spike the punch? Because I'd be just a little bit morally opposed to that but I'd help you do it anyway. You're my date tonight. Whatever you need, I'll help you."
Kalasin hadn’t meant to lose her composure once they were surrounded by the thrum of noise and the crush of people inside of the dance, she really hadn’t. She’d wanted to get this night over with, sure, and as soon as she’d realized she would be with Lev, she’d even thought she’d have fun. But it was too much -- it was all too emotionally loaded, and suddenly her excitement ebbed into panic as she worried that Lev would think this had something to do with him. The last thing she wanted was to ruin her chance with the boy she’d grown to like so much, but how did she put into words that his warm and constant presence beside her was the only thing keeping her together right now at all? That this would have been a zillion times worse for her if she’d been with anyone else? Her blank stare into the distance was broken when Lev stepped in front of her, though; like he knew that she needed something to snap her out of it, and the gentle squeeze on her hand reminded Kally to breathe again. This wasn’t last year, this was this year -- things were new and different, and maybe even exciting. “Would you hate me if I asked if maybe I could be your date somewhere else instead of here?” Kally blurted out, worried that if she didn’t get it off her chest, Lev would step away and she’d feel suffocated by the dance again. With him in front of her, face to face, it was like they were in their own little bubble, their own world where she felt safe and happy and hopeful, but she wasn’t sure how long that could hold up. Kally took his other hand in hers, too, feeling more confident the more physical contact she had with him. “It’s just... the dance is so much, and I know I’d have fun with you, I always have fun with you, but... being here just feels wrong.” There was too much going on in her mind, too much to explain to him in just a few seconds, but she could at least maintain her courage long enough to tell him the things he did need to understand. “Because I want to be on a date with you right now so, so, so much. I don’t even think you understand how much. But I just -- don’t want to be here.” Kally bit her lip nervously, looking up at him through wide blue eyes, blinking rapidly to try and keep pointless tears from pooling in her eyes. She was so busy trying to keep herself together that she hardly even realized what she’d said -- that she’d half admitted she wanted to be more than friends with him right then and there, barely fifteen minutes into what she hoped was going to be a long night together, if Lev would just understand and agree.
Lev blinked in confusion as her sentence started but by the time she finished her sentence he understood and bit his lip. "I'd never hate you," he promised before deciding to stay quiet until she'd said her whole piece. Besides, his imagination was running and stuck on the fact that she may have specified that she still wanted to be his date. Was it on purpose? Did it mean what he thought it meant? Did it matter? No. No, what mattered was that she wasn't comfortable here and that he could fix it, but he felt his hopes raise as she took his other hand too, because the quiet and anxious part of his brain worried if maybe she didn't just not want to be here, but if she didn't want to be here with him. If he'd been too pushy or loud about how much he liked her, if he was scaring her off, if she wasn't interested and was too nice to say so, or if she was interested but just not ready to date again after everything that had happened... he had all those thoughts swarming around in his head but it was easy to turn most of them off when he was touching her, her hands in his and her voice louder than everything around them. And then she said it. The words that calmed even the most persistent of worries that he was too much or reading things wrong. A sigh he'd been holding for over a week exhaled slowly as he smiled at her. Maybe he shouldn't be smiling, she was obviously nervous and he should be more sensitive of that, but it was all he could do to keep from fist-pumping the air or even breaking into a victory dance. "I want to be on a date with you too," he confessed, eyes wide and looking into hers, holding onto her hands like they were the most precious cargo he'd ever held. "It's all I've thought about lately, and the truth is I could be on a date with you anywhere and it would become my new favorite place in the world." His heart was thumping so loudly in his chest that he could hear it in his ears, and he stood there in silence for a while, trying to absorb the fact that he'd finally told someone that he liked that he liked them. But it made sense that it was Kally. From the beginning, he knew that she was different, that this was different. It was something strong and soft and important and he never wanted it to end, and now she knew. Almost embarrassed at how honest he'd been, he kept talking, a little quicker than he had before. "So where should we go? We have so many things we want to do, after all, and while everybody is here at the dance might be the best time to get started on our to-do list of millions. We could go for a walk or, oh, karaoke! We did say we wanted to do that, or we could go to the Family Fun Center and play all the games that we want or... the possibilities are endless," he breathed, his adoring gaze stuck to her face waiting to see what she'd say and where their first official real life date was going to be.
Kally drew in a sharp intake of breath at Lev’s words. It’s all I’ve thought about lately. Fab and Napoleon had both assumes that Lev’s words and Lev’s actions meant that he liked her the way she’d come to like him, but it hadn’t felt real, not until she was hearing the words from Lev’s own mouth, and if it weren’t for the fact that the lat thing in the world she wanted to do was drop his hands, she might have let go and brought her hands up to her face to hide it while all the emotions she was processing flashed across her features. She didn’t want to let go, though; didn’t want to let go of him or this moment of total lightness that had somehow wormed it’s way into an event that for her was so full of dark. And so Lev got to witness her eyes flash from surprise to nervousness that she’d mess it up, and finally to a look of complete and total awe -- that this guy that she thought was so great wanted to be with her, a mess of anxiety and baggage and dorkiness, out of all of the girls here in Walt. Out of all of the girls anywhere, maybe, and so. her voice thick with emotion, Kally admitted, “I think about it all the time, too. You and me, what it could be like... and every time I imagine it it just seems even better than the day before.” Kally blushed, although maybe Lev wouldn’t notice this time, since all the color had drained out of her face as soon as she’d taken in the whole dance. Or maybe he would notice -- did it matter anymore? Did she have anything to hide, now that it seemed pretty clear he wanted the same things she did? She could almost laugh, but that would come later -- there was so much to look forward to later now, and those words seemed like a promise now instead of like a dreadful unknown. Kally finally let one of Lev’s hands go again, but only so they could start slowly making their way back through the crowd, back out of the dance hall, and onto whatever the night had in store for them now. As soon as they were in the hallway, the rest of the grey cloud that had been hanging over her head disappeared, and Kally pressed up onto her tippy toes again, about to press a quick kiss to his lips as a thank you for understanding -- and then at the last second, she swerved to kiss his cheek instead. It felt like she was always doing that, but before Lev could question her, she explained all on her own, “I want to kiss you, too. Like, I really, really want to kiss you. And Charming Dance Hall doesn’t have a doorbell, but it has... like, so many other things that could interrupt us, and we deserve a better first kiss than that.” The fact that maybe now she could kiss him, though, without second-guessing or stopping herself, had her whole body humming with anticipation, and it took all her willpower not to just ask if he wanted to go back to her cottage now. This was their first date, and Lev was... not as experienced as she was in certain things. They deserved to go do something fun, look nice together, let the world see the way things were just so effortless and fun when they were around each other. And they couldn’t exactly do that if she cheapened their moment by just inviting him back to her dimly lit cottage so they could do things behind closed doors. “Let’s go to the Family Fun Center -- it’s always so crowded, tonight we wouldn’t have to wait for like seven bozos ahead of us playing mini golf,” Kally proposed. "I mean, if you want to. I could do anything right now, as long as I get to be with you.”
Lev almost wanted to laugh, to ask if she really meant it, if she really felt the same way, but for once he didn't have to. He didn't need to ask for confirmation or validation. He had all the answers he needed in those eyes of hers, the way she was looking at him mirroring the way he looked at her. Had she always looked at him like that and he was just too nervous to see it? Because he wasn't nervous anymore. Everything that had been weighing him down was gone and he was lucky that Kalasin was holding his hand because otherwise he might have floated to the ceiling out of pure happiness. Even as she pressed a kiss to his cheek when he wished it was his lips, it couldn't put a damper on his mood. And as she explained herself, it only served to make him even happier. "I almost can't even believe what you're saying," he admitted with a chuckle, "but that's only because I've been wanting to kiss you too. And I know that we've been on the same page about a lot of things and it shouldn't surprise me anymore when we are but I'm just... I'm sorry, I feel like I'm dreaming." He couldn't believe he was being that honest with her but it was Kally and he could tell her everything. "But um, yes, the Family Fun Center sounds absolutely perfect! Mini-golf is always fun and besides, there aren't any doorbells there either," he pointed out, blushing at what that might mean for them. His heartbeat picked up at the very idea that this might be the night that he finally kissed Kalasin Ambrosius. It was almost too good to be true. As soon as they were outdoors under the clear skies, Lev used his free hand to take his mask off with a sigh. Maybe the mask was helpful in covering his blush, sure, but he'd rather be able to have his face revealed on this night of their first official date. "You know what's so great? I mean, out of all the great things happening right now, because there are lot of them. But what I really love is that I think now I've officially told you everything," he said with a huge smile, holding onto her hand like he never intended to let go.
Kally’s instant instinct was to quip, “You?” when he asked what was so great, and she bumped her hip lightly against his as she waited for Lev to finish his thought instead. It was true, though; she’d always known he was great, it was why she’d ended up liking him so much more than she’d originally planned, but tonight he was above and beyond great. He’d been so understanding about leaving the dance, and he looked so genuinely happy to have no secrets between them that Kally almost stopped then and there to kiss him. She had a feeling that the urge would be haunting her all night, but instead, she took her own mask off, too. “And now there are no feathers hiding my face so you can see me blush when you say totally adorable stuff like that,” Kally told him. She’d hated her mask anyway; it had been the worst part of her outfit, but she’d struggled to find anything else that matched her dress. As they walked to the Family Fun Center, Kally tried to think of things she could say now that she hadn’t been able to before, but the past didn’t seem so important now. Not when their future seemed so bright, and the anxiety-inducing noises of the Valentine’s masquerade were now so far behind them. “It’s a good thing we didn’t do karaoke for our first date -- I kind of love the sound of that, date. I know we’ve totally said it before, but this is like a real date now -- “ Kally swallowed down the urge to say right? and triple check -- “But anyway, I don’t have a new happy karaoke song picked out yet, just my sad 2017 vibes, and 2018 Kally needs a more cheerful song to serenade you with, it’s what you deserve.” And maybe, after beating herself up for so long about hurting Gani and not making things work with Fab, being happy again, being around someone who made her feel so excited about every little thing she did, was what Kally deserved, too. She pulled out her wallet from her small purse as soon as they got there, leaning up to pepper kisses on Lev’s cheek to distract him so he wouldn’t stop her from paying, asking for two games of mini golf and an orange and blue ball. “You could have taken me on a perfectly nice two dollar date at the dance, since it was my idea to leave, I get to pay this time,” Kally told him as she swung her golfclub slightly in her spare hand, still not wanting to let go of Lev as they headed out towards the course. “You can totally pay for our second date, though, if you want,” she added, unable to resist the urge to just double check that he was still excited about this. Kally got so attached so fast, and she couldn’t imagine ever wanting this night to end... at least, not unless there was the promise of many more nights like it to come. “Do you want to play rock, paper, scissors, lizard, Spock to see who goes first to start the game?” Kally asked, finally tearing her fond gaze away from Lev for a moment to realize that they really did seem to be totally alone at the Family Fun Center, aside from a couple of bored looking employees. Good. No one behind them to care if they were golfing slow, because Kally had a feeling that knowing the two of them, there would be a lot of distractions over the course of the next 18 holes...
"I like your blush," Lev admitted, biting his lip to resist saying that he liked her everything, even though it was true. He had a feeling that he wouldn't be able to stop himself from getting sappy with how happy this girl made him, especially if the night went on this great, but hopefully she wouldn't mind. He glowed at the phrases 'first date' and 'real date', feeling as brave and as powerful as a real superhero might. "I think date might be my new favorite word," he admitted, "and you're right. We're on a real date, which means a sad song just wouldn't have fit at all. The real question is do they even make songs happy enough for occasions like this though?" It was half teasing but he also meant it. If his life had a soundtrack, this moment would be hard to pin down with any sort of instrumentation. It just kind of felt like everything. And gosh, if her being able to kiss his cheek so freely wasn't so damn nice. It felt like it was what they should've been doing all along, and it made him blush so hard that he almost didn't even notice her paying for it until she was asking for the specific balls and his mouth hung open at her in surprise. "You're good," he giggled, still pink. "You know, you can also kiss me when you aren't sneakily paying for our dates. Just putting that out there." His eyes twinkled at the idea of a second date and he nodded immediately, emphatically. "Of course I will. And our third date too, and our forth. You can pay for the fifth, I guess, but I'm paying for at least every other one after that. We can reevaluate when we get to, like, date twenty or something," he suggested, wondering if maybe he was projecting too far into the future, but he really hoped he wasn't. He could picture a million dates with this girl, each at least as enjoyable as the last, and it was so calming to think about. He felt right where he belonged as he stepped up next to her at the first hole and as she suggested a method for deciding who went first, he felt hit with another pang of admiration and fondness. It was like those pangs would never end. "You're the coolest," he gushed before returning to the matter at hand. "But if we play rock, paper, scissors, lizard, Spock to see who goes first, we'll have to stop holding hands," he pointed out before realizing and adding, "though I guess we'll have to let go to play anyway, right?" He looked down at their joined hands and smiled. "It's probably for the best anyway. My hand is so comfortable there that if they don't separate soon I might never let go." He raised her hand to his mouth and kissed it before finally letting go, the cold night air hitting his recently held hand even harder. He turned his hand into a fist and held it at chest level, locking eyes with his date. "On three. One, two, three!" he called, turning his hand into Spock at last second. Not that it really mattered who went first, because they had the place to themselves and the night to have fun and, most importantly, they had each other. He couldn't ask for anything more.
“It is a pretty great word, isn’t it?” Kalasin giggled, tilting her head up towards Lev, her eyes filled with a stupidly large amount of adoration that she couldn’t predict ever fading. She should have been more careful falling into that mindset; there had been a time that she’d thought the same thing about Fab, and Valentine’s Day was a glaring reminder of how wrong she’d been. But that’s why they’d left the ball, wasn’t it? Kally didn’t want to be trapped in memories, comparing everything to the old; she wanted to embrace the new, and whatever happened with Lev after tonight, she was ready and eager to find out. “And okay, as cheesy as it is, the first song that pops to mind is I Really Like You by Carly Rae Jepsen. But first of all, her voice is way too high, and if you’re going to sing her Call Me Maybe is more fun anyway. And second of all, she asks so many questions about how the other person feels but I mean... I kind of hope I already know the answers to those.” Kally blushed, a sensation that only deepened when he started mentioning not just dates two and three and four and five, but date twenty, too. “Remember when I said I hoped I ended up being the luckiest girl in the world on the night of the dance? I think that’s exactly what’s happening,” she told him, her heart so full of emotion. Lev didn’t care if she was clingy; Lev was clinging right back, and Kally’s normal fears of people getting sick of her when they realized how much baggage she actually came with were just... not there. It was bizarre, to care so much but worry so little about losing him; usually it was the things that mattered most that she was the most scared of slipping away, but Lev was too good for that. Lev was better than she deserved, but he wanted to be with her, so it seemed, and that was all that really counted. “We could have tried holding hands and playing one handed, but that would have put someone’s weak-side one-handed swing at a huge disadvantage! Besides, you’ve got like, the rest of however long you want me to hold my hand, I promise,” Kally giggled as she knocked her fist against her flat hand once, twice, three times before pulling out lizard. “Ha! Lizard poisons Spock. Except... you get to see whether or not I’ve got any secret mini golf skills first, that’s totally an advantage,” Kally mused, knowing she wasn’t going to be particularly competitive during this game of golf anyway. She threw her arms quickly around Lev for another hug, murmuring against his chest, “Thank you so much for everything,” before skipping to the waiting golf mat and putting her orange ball down. She tried to line up, but she couldn’t resist sneaking glances back towards her date, her heart skipping a beat every time she saw him smiling back at her, and when she finally did hit, she accidentally whacked the thing so hard that it bounced halfway back the hole. “Wow, and this is supposed to be the easy one! It’s going to be a looooong game for this golf-challenged girl, hopefully there’s a cute boy around who’s willing to cheer me up when I start to feel too terrible about myself,” she teased as she skipped back to his side, resisting the urge to reach out and touch him again -- because she could didn’t mean she should -- as she waved him forward, indicating that it was his turn to take a shot instead.
Lev perked up at the mention of the song. "That's one of the cutest songs ever," he agreed, "but you're right. I like to think we both know the answers to those questions, date." He almost called her "girlfriend" instead of 'date', but if he wasn't scaring her off already, that might just do it. He hoped it wouldn't, though, if he let the word slip at some point tonight which, knowing him, it definitely might. He was already thinking of her that way, he kind of had been for a while, but holding her hand and talking so openly about everything made it even stronger. "I do. And remember when I said I'd the luckiest guy if you were the luckiest girl? I'm glad we get to be lucky together," he gushed back. It was like everything she said made his heart three sizes larger, and by the time she promised the rest of however long he wanted to hold her hand, his heart may as well have filled up his entire chest. "You sure? Because that's going to be a really long time," he smiled back, his pulse beating in his neck at how honest he was being. None of the usual impulses to play it cool or try to be a better guy than he was came into play; he could be his dorky and completely head-over-heels self in front of Kalasin, and it was amazing not to doubt that even for a second. He fake-groaned at losing in Rock, Paper, Scissors, knowing he would've offered her to go first anyway, but it was impossible to be even fake-competitive-angry when Kally hugged him. He wrapped his arms around her tight for a moment, saying back "Thank you" into her hair, before she was gone and out of his arms again. He couldn't help the goofy grin on his face as he watched her walk up to the tee, flashing her a thumbs up when she looked back the first time. When she finally did hit the ball, he cheered and clapped as if she'd gotten a hole in one. "No way, that was so good! The raw strength behind that one? That's gonna be hard to beat," he insisted with a smile, wrapping an arm around her shoulders in a side-hug when she was besides him. "But don't worry. I'm always down to cheer up a cute girl, especially if she doesn't judge me for sucking. Wish me luck," Lev laughed, pressing a kiss to her temple before walking up and putting his blue ball down on the mat. He found himself worrying so much in that moment for stupid reasons - what if he missed the ball entirely and looked like an idiot? What if he hit it into the water and ruined the game? What if he got a hole in one and she thought he was too competitive? - but when he looked back at the pretty girl watching him those worries seemed smaller than he could've imagined. With a swing, he sent the ball rolling towards the hole. It passed it but didn't go as far as hers had, and he nodded, satisfied. "It's a good thing there's no one behind us," he pointed out, looking to Kally before they made their way to the balls to continue, "because I have a feeling we can make this last a while. I'm glad, though. I'd rather a date with you go on forever than end too quickly." He blushed again and shook his head. "If I'm ever too cheesy, by the way, let me know and I can calm it down, maybe."
“I’ve got all the time in the word,” Kalasin laughed, although as she said the words, it triggered a memory, of him asking her about witches and mortals having relationships, and she gasped in surprise. “Oh my gosh, you asked me about mortals and witches dating because you wanted to date me. You liiiiiike me!” Kally giggled, her smile wide as she leaned her head against her own shoulder and flashed him a shy smile. God, was he cute. So cute, and now that she knew how he really felt, she couldn’t wait to go back and reread all the texts that had made her swoon before with a brand new meaning. For now, though, she pushed up onto her tiptoes instead, nuzzling her nose against his neck before placing a quick kiss in the crook. She could have been comfortable letting her head rest there all day if she’d stopped to let herself, but they had a date to enjoy! His cheering when she golfed buoyed Kally, and sure, it was just something stupid like minigolf… But realizing that he was always going to be on her team? No matter what they were doing? That was an incredible feeling, and it made her realize that she hadn’t just missed being in a relationship as a vague concept — she’d missed being in a relationship with someone who was right . Being with Lev was the most right she’d felt in a whole year, and she had a feeling she’d spend a long, sleepless night thanking her lucky stars that he’d come into her life when he had. “My strength would be way better suited at Top Golf than here!” she told him, “I don’t think this course is really the place for the She-Hulk. OH! Hulk fanfiction!” Kally interjected. “Those would be weird, we have got to read some Marvel fanfics next time to play our game.” The tips of her ears felt hot thinking about other things she could do next time, though… Things she’d wanted to do the last time they’d gotten drunk off weird fanfic porn readings, that had been off the table as just friends. They weren’t just friends anymore, though, were they? They hadn’t even kissed yet but Kally already knew that once they started, she might never want to stop. That was why she resisted the urge to wrap her arms around him and plant a kiss to his lips right now; instead, she watched as he took the tee, flashing him an encouraging smile when he was looking and maybe admiring the way his butt looked in his dress pants when he wasn’t. As soon as she’d joined him further down the hole, she slid her hand into his momentarily, blurting out “I love the cheesiness! I don’t want tonight to end either, I promise.” Letting her hand drop, she lined her club up with the ball again, chattering happily instead of really focusing on her golf. “Would it be presumptuous of me if I said it doesn’t have to? You can definitely come spend the night again — and we don’t even have to do anything, just like last time.” She hit the ball to hide her blush, letting it clink off the sideboard and miss the target because she’d gotten herself flustered thinking about Lev sharing her bed again. “I mean — hopefully we’d do a little more than last time, but I know you haven’t… um, you know,” she said, gesturing between their bodies and swallowing a lump just thinking about it. “So I don’t want to rush you or anything!” By the time Kally was done sticking her foot in her mouth, she was done with the hole, too, getting her ball in on just four strokes somehow, and she turned to Lev with big blue eyes full of hope, saying, “Do you think you’d want to? Stay over, I mean! Not the sex part.”
Lev blushed heavily at her realization, but he nodded in confirmation. What was the point of hiding it now? His cards were all on the table and frankly he was happier than he'd ever been. "I doooo," he sang back, running a hand through his hair at the sight of her smile. "I thought for sure I was going to give myself away by asking things like that but I was too curious! I'm still glad, by the way. That you can date mortals." Glad was an understatement, especially when she was being cute, which was most of the time; when her nose nuzzled against his neck, he swore he swooned for a second there, and the feeling of her lips stayed long after she'd left. "Marvel fanfics, yes! It's only fair, we gave DC a shot already, and things are always bound to get freaky with supers involved," he agreed with a grin, already looking forward to the next round of their fanfic game. He wondered if it'd build to a moment like last time had and if, this time, he'd be allowed to go for the kiss and whatever else they wanted. Should he have been thinking about that already? Would that be freaking her out if she knew how much he wanted to not only be around her, but right up against her too? He figured he'd find out eventually as she came to held his hand, providing comfort in the idea that she wanted to be here, at least, just as much as he did. And as she continued speaking and his face got warm again - he'd never blushed so much in his life before and now it was like he couldn't stop - he wondered if maybe she wanted those things as much as he did. "Oh?" he asked, taking his turn after hers and hitting the ball only a little bit, too interested in what she was saying to really focus on golf. His blush only got worse when she referenced his virginity and he coughed but nodded. It was true, he hadn't, but he'd also never thought about sex more than he had since meeting Kally - since their first fanfiction date, really. "You aren't rushing me," he promised, taking another shot before walking over to Kalasin and kissing her on the nose. "I mean, we're dating. It's normal to share a bed and other stuff when you're dating, right?" She finished before he did, his hands suddenly too sweaty to even get a good grip on the golf club. "And even if it isn't normal, I would love to. Stay over, I mean. And, I mean, as for the sex part..." he drifted off as his ball finally sunk into the hole after five turns, then looked up at the girl's lovely eyes, all wide with expectations and happiness. And again the truth stumbled out of him in an unstoppable gust. "I know I haven't done that, but I want to. With you. But like, it's not like I'm hanging out with you just to get to do that, I promise. I like you so much, like so so much that the word 'like' has kind of lost its meaning with how often I think it around you, and I've been daydreaming about kissing you even longer than I have about the other stuff, but you're amazing and beautiful and interesting and I trust you and I want you. So. I mean, if you want me too, I really don't mind. Because I want to do everything with you, from mini-golf to, you know, everything else. Which is just my really long-winded way of saying that yes, a sleepover tonight sounds great. Wow, no wonder I'm the King of Ramblevania," he laughed semi-nervously, hoping he hadn't finally freaked her out.
“You thought you gave your feelings away?” Kally laughed incredulously. “I thought I was the most obvious person in the world! I mean, I wanted to meet your family, I told you I didn’t want to think about you being on a date with somebody else, I… oh my God, how did we both not see this sooner?” Kally shook her head, her straightened hair fanning out around her face as she did, still chuckling about how ridiculous they were. “Napoleon was even sure that you were my boyfriend already, and that just… sounded so good to me, I guess I was scared to hope that maybe it was true and that you, you know, wanted to be.” Kally blushed, realizing that all she’d officially asked him was to go on one date, yet somehow she’d skipped about a million steps and already jumped to assuming they were in a full blown relationship. And while she was like… 99% sure he was okay with that, there was a small part of her brain that went YIKES! and made her roll her golf ball between her palms, fidgeting nervously. She tried putting it back down on the tee for the second hole — there were still seventeen left to go, after all — but as she tried to line up her shot, she couldn’t help but feel guilty. Was she pressuring Lev? Mentioning being his girlfriend, mentioning sex, talking about such huge steps so early on that she’d made him sputter-cough and found herself wondering if their first kiss was going to end up being CPR? “It’s — it’s definitely normal, don’t worry!” Kally protested, swallowing thickly as she watched Lev finish the hole behind her before she took her first shot on the next. Her mind paused for a second at the irony of him hitting a ball into a hole right as they were talking about having sex, figuring reassurance was better than dirty jokes when it came to something so important. “I would never think you just wanted sex,” she assured him, admitting, “If anything, I was kind of worried you… wouldn’t want that. You know, because I’ve already done it with someone else? I just really hope that doesn’t like… ruin it for you, whenever it does happen.” It was silly to work about, but she’d heard so many people talk about their first times and how perfect they had to be… and she’d already had her perfect first time. She didn’t regret anything that had happened between her and Fab, save maybe the months of awkwardness before they’d become friends again, but she didn’t want Lev to regret being with someone who had so much more experience than he did, either. “I know everyone says that the first time is the most special, but… why does it have to be the first-first, you know? My first time with you could be even more special because of who I’m with, not because of how many times I have or haven’t done it.” She gulped, going ahead and hitting her ball gently to distract herself from how nervous she was, watching it skitter down the path and surprisingly close to the hole, but she didn’t even care that it had been a good shot. She was overcome with emotion at how honest Lev was — about all the things he wanted with her, no matter what she’d done in the past. How had she found a boy so perfect? Kally let her club drop, rushing back over to where Lev was, and wrapped both of her arms around the back of his neck so she could look him straight in the eyes. “I want everything with you, too, Leverett,” she told him, her voice too thick with emotion to even tease and use his Ramblevanian royal title. “Although I kind of think maybe we should start with something that’s long overdue.” Kally tilted her head up towards his, all trace of hesitation gone as she finally, finally kissed Lev square on the lips.
Lev couldn't believe what he was hearing, but knowing now that Kally had been into him for a while too, well, things were starting to make sense. "You were nowhere near as obvious as me! I kept asking if you were sure you were over your ex and I took off my shirt in front of you and...yeah, we sure took our time, didn't we?" he laughed, blinking widely when he heard the word 'boyfriend'. The context almost didn't even matter as much as the fact that that word made fireworks explode in his chest. Had she just offered to be his girlfriend? How did he ask without seeming like he had zero idea what was going on? "I'm scared of wanting to be your boyfriend so much when I wasn't sure if you'd want to be my girlfriend so I guess we're even," he tried, biting his lip as they were talking about this. Did that make them official? He'd make sure to ask before the night was through, but there was so much to talk about - there was always so much to talk about with Kalasin, though. It was one of the things he liked most about her, and that was quite a list to pick from since there were so, so many things. His relief at her not assuming he was a fuckboy was quickly replaced by concern at her thinking he wouldn't want her just because she'd already had sex. "Hey, no, it could never ruin it," he promised, already knowing that to be true. "When I get to be with you that way, I can't imagine I'll feel anything other than totally lucky and totally totally into you. And as long as you're happy to be doing that with me too, well, we're what really matters right then and there, right? Besides," he added with a chuckle, "it'd be helpful to have someone to tell me how to do it. I want it to be as special for you as it is for me, you know?" He was probably still pink but he couldn't even feel his blush anymore from how often he'd been blushing. He was grateful for her trying on the second hole, but his concentration was already shot; talking about their relationship was far more intriguing and it felt like they'd been saving so much conversation about this for now that it had to come out no matter what they were doing. And maybe, he thought to himself as she wrapped her arms around his neck, they'd been saving more than just conversation. Their attempts at kissing had been thwarted twice before but they were alone now with nothing but the sound of silence and each other's breathing filling the air and nothing was going to stop them now. The last conscious thought he registered as their lips touched was that he loved the way his full name sounded when she said it, and then it was just like magic. He'd later wonder how best to describe the feeling when recounting the story to his sisters or to his friends, but no words could do it justice. Tingly was a word for it. His face felt tingly, the pressure of their lips together sending the most pleasant waves of warmth everywhere. It was so intimate, like they were sharing something more important than words or space or even each other; they were creating something of their own together, a moment of pure joy. His arms had wrapped around her waist upon contact but now one lifted to support her back, the hand finding itself lightly entangled in her hair and holding her head closer. This was the most comfortable yet exhilarating thing he'd ever felt and he never wanted it to end, but end it had to when he eventually needed air. He kept his face close to hers, not wanting to break their bubble, and looking at her beautiful face so up close almost hurt. This couldn't be real. "Finally," he giggled quietly, a little out-of-breath. "Told you we needed to go somewhere without a doorbell." And a moment passed and he went for it again, wanting to feel that feeling crackle through him again just like the first time as he kissed her hungrily.
“And I totally kept volunteering how over Fab I was, even when you didn’t ask!” Kally giggled, amazed by how they’d both lived the exact same events and interpreted them so differently. “And we don’t even need to talk about the shirt thing right now, because I...” Kally swallowed, her cheeks a dark red as she stammered, “Um, that’s maybe just a conversation for when we’re somewhere more private instead.” Despite how flustered she was as they stepped into this new stage of their relationship, Kally knew thinking about all of it, even the embarrassing stuff, was beyond exciting. Her heart felt light, like it could float right out of her chest if it wasn’t trapped in there by her ribs, and as Lev said he was scared of wanting to be her boyfriend so much, she quickly interjected. “I want to be your girlfriend. I know some people like... go on a few dates first and think about whether or not they want to be that serious first, but... I don’t need to think about it. I want it. I want you. So... can I be your girlfriend?” Kally asked, just to make sure they were absolutely definitely on the same page with what they were now. This was crazy, wasn’t it? Or it would have been crazy for anyone else, but for the two of them, it just felt so right. Kally licked her lips when Lev explained he wasn’t intimidated by the fact that she’d had sex before, and her imagination was bright and alive and waaaaay too active as he said he’d need someone to show him what to do, anyway. “Showing you sounds way too fun for two people who are supposed to be playing mini golf right now,” Kally laughed nervously, wondering how many holes they’d even make it through at the rate they were going. It took everything she had not to keep closing the distance between them and showing him exactly how she felt right then and there, but this so wasn’t the time or place for it, and still... barely a minute after she’d tried not to go to him and touch him, Kally’s feeble attempts to control herself were gone, and she couldn’t be more glad that she’d thrown caution — and her golf club — to the wind when she had. It wasn’t how badly her body craved him that had made her finally kiss him, though good grief, did their conversations about sex keep driving her crazy. It was just how sweet and silly and safe he was, and how she had so much happiness in her that she might burst if she didn’t do something to show him, that made her finally go for it, and the air all around her was still and peaceful, like there was no one in the world that mattered besides them, and nothing that could come between them. There was so much warmth and sweetness in the first kiss, and Kally’s stomach was crazy with butterflies by the time Lev pulled away. She was too blissfully happy even for words as he reminded her that doorbells had stopped them from doing that before, although the hand tangled in her hair and how flush against him her body was pressed now compared to when they started sent a new thrill up her spine. The first kiss was done, and had been perfect... but what came next? The next kiss, Lev’s lips felt firmer against hers, more sure of himself, and Kally wished she was taller so she could reach more of him — his hair, his jawline, anywhere that didn’t mean he had to be tilting his lips directly towards hers. Being with Lev was the best she’d felt in a long time; it might even be the most right she’d ever felt, and she took a step back, leaving Lev on the sunken green and standing on her top toes two inches above him on the sidewalk. Better, she thought to herself as her fingers threaded through his hair with one hand, and the other stayed firmly wrapped around his, half a hug, half so she wasn’t so dizzy with the rush of it all that she lost her balance. She kissed back with just as much urgency and hunger as Lev had, and she finally pulled back, gasping for air and teasing, “I don’t know, maybe the doorbell would be more helpful than you think. We might need to practice like, kissing in a way that doesn’t make me want to climb you like a tree in the middle of a mini golf course,” Kally laughed, still breathless as she said, “I think it might be your turn now.”
Lev let out a sigh of relief, bringing a hand to his heart like it had stopped. "Thank God! I was trying to figure out how to ask you to be my girlfriend without being creepy or too much or too forward because this is technically only our first date and I know sometimes people need time but I don't. I want you, too. Please be my girlfriend," he laughed excitedly, licking his lips, "because I'd love to be your boyfriend." He couldn't imagine needing any more time to know that Kalasin was special - he'd known it since they seriously started talking, since he started perking up every time his phone buzzed, and since they only made more and more excuses to be around each other. It was crazy to think that not too long ago she hadn't been a mainstay in his life when now he could scarcely imagine things without her. Lev was someone who often thought ahead and lately whenever he did, it was hard not to picture her there somehow with him; she just fit. And now that she was his girlfriend - his heart felt like an exclamation mark whenever he thought the word - maybe he was allowed to be as excited about a joint future as he'd been. His mind was already skipping ahead a little bit, to after they played mini-golf and when she might be down to show him a thing or two. One of his eyebrows raised at the idea as he chuckled too, nervous with anticipation. The kiss was a good reminder, though, that he didn't have to be excited about their entire future right this second - maybe he needed to be excited about the present, and instead of thinking about how many kisses they'd possibly share throughout their time together or if having sex would be this fun or how freely they'd get to do this now whenever they wanted, he could think about how soft her lips were and how warm she was and how nice she felt up against him. It was moments like this that made people think living in the moment was a good idea, Lev was sure, because he'd buy a home in this moment and stay in there forever if he could. And then that moment was over and the next began and the feeling stayed and it occurred to him that the experiences themselves weren't the home. It was the person. It was Kally. And it was a realization so heavy that it only fueled him to kiss her harder, as if saying 'thank you' for giving him a place to feel home. She readjusted herself, blessedly kissing him throughout and holding him like he'd never been held before, and it was almost too much for his heart to bear by the time they pulled away. "I like kissing that way," he admitted with a grin, "but maybe you're right. I actually, um, forgot that we were playing golf." Bowing his head sheepishly, he reluctantly and slowly pulled himself away from her and hurried up to do a shot, sending the ball next to Kally's with one swing. "Your turn," he announced, turning back to her and planting a small peck on her lips without placing his hands on her at all. It was still sweet, from his side anyway, but it let him pull back faster as he asked with a smile, "Just getting some non-tree-climbing kissing practice in. How was that?"
"Girlfriend... I like the sound of that," Kally giggled, wondering if she'd ever get sick of hearing it. "And boyfriend sounds great on you. Boyfriend, boyfriend, boyfriend," she repeated the word over and over again, hugging him around the middle and clinging onto him like she'd never let go. Which was already how she felt, wasn't it? Kally had the tendency to get so attached so fast, and she couldn't imagine wanting to ever let Leverett Lumos go, not in this or in any moment. She'd felt that way before, though; but tonight wasn't a night for the dark thoughts and the doubts to creep in. Tonight was a night where she was so aware of how much she liked him that everything else had faded into the background -- the memories of the dance they'd left behind, the doubts about whether he'd feel the same way, even the noises that were around them on the golf course all felt dull and hazy and almost not real. The only thing that was real was Lev and how happy she felt, and she twirled towards her ball and finally went through the motions of hitting it again despite how much she wanted to kiss him more. "Yikes, I'm not sure it worked, it kind of still just left me wanting more," Kally laughed, pressing another quick peck to his lips and forcefully dragging herself away. "You're like, a magnet, I can't help but be pulled towards you! I wonder if we'll ever get this out of our systems or if all our friends are going to hate hanging out with us forever because we can't keep our hands off of each other." Kally giggled, although suddenly she was more resolved to get through this hole... This one, and the next one, and the other fifteen after that, because as much fun as she was having with Lev, things had moved from 0 to 100 so quickly, and Kally's every swing was cased in distraction. "Speed golfing? Think you'd be up for that?" Kally teased as she gave up and kicked her ball into the hole instead of using her putter, winking at him as she slipped her hand into his and skipped them off towards the next hole. "We're really great at this whole dating thing, huh? Skipped all our dancing, now I'm trying to skip all our golf holes... You'd totally be able to argue that I'm a terrible date if you wanted to, you know," she told him, blinking up at him from beneath her long eyelashes. "Orrrr a really good one," she added hopefully, snaking her arms around his neck again at the start of whatever hole they were on now, pressing a soft, sweet kiss to his lips this time and pulling back after just a few seconds, never letting the pressure get too firm or urgent. "Was that better on the short kissing thing? Or do we still need practice?" she asked, her heartbeat finally calming a little as the world around them started to come back into view, their surroundings now completing the picture, completing the memories that she knew she'd hold onto forever rather than being a distraction from them.
"And we've found our newest titles," Lev gushed, wishing she'd never let go of him. It was the cutest he'd ever felt in his life, having this tiny girl attached to him around the waist and calling him her boyfriend and gosh, he had no clue what he'd done to deserve this but he wasn't going to question it right now, not when they had so much to do. It almost felt like too much to do, with golfing and kissing, or maybe it was just because it was hard to focus on anything but Kalasin. It felt like ever since he'd started falling for her he'd had to fight to pay attention to anything else, but right now it didn't have to be a battle. It could just be her and him and the way they felt together. And magnets, he noted, was a perfectly apt description. "I know! It's so wild, I've wanted to, like, be nearer to you for ages now. I thought actually getting to kiss you would calm it down at least a little bit but it just makes me want it more," he admitted with a laugh. "Our friends will deal, though. Or they'll have to get used to it." He perked up at the mention of speed golfing and hurried over with a laugh, kicking his ball into the hole after she did. "Psh, are you kidding? We're being creative! Meshing golf with soccer? They'll patent this," he insisted as they made their way through the place, giggling and holding hands. "We're highly skilled," he laughed. He truly hadn't even missed the dance or the golf - he would've forgotten that that's what they were doing if it weren't for their formal wear. "And highly happy and I would argue that you're the best date, actually, on the grounds of I've never felt this way before" he clarified, wrapping his hands around her waist at the same time her arms came up to his neck. It was instinctual, like they'd been doing this forever instead of just however long it'd been since they left the ball, and when she pulled away it felt too soon. "I'd argue that you're the best kisser, too. That was perfect, except for one thing - it was too short," he fake-pouted. "God, you were right, our friends are going to hate us. Like, imagine if we were at the dance still. We'd be the ones making out on the dance floor. Or trying not to." He stopped and, for the first time, heard the song playing overhead. It was a slow one and it made him smile. "To a song just like this, probably. Still wearing our masks and surrounded by other faceless people though, twirling in a circle and trying to keep our hands off each other. I like this whole being able to see each other and hear each other and just...be alone together thing better, though." He looked at her and grinned as the song neared the chorus, readjusting his hands on her waist so they were more of a traditional slow-dance position. "Kally? I know we're not at the ball anymore, but would you honor me with a slow-dance where we can kiss the whole time if that's what we want to do because no one will stop us?" he asked hopefully, eyes twinkling.
Kally knew that she didn't need anything else to enhance this moment. It was perfect already, being here with Lev, being on the same page, not having anyone or anything to interrupt them... and yet, the fact that he was asking her if they could have their dance, here and now, like they'd never left the ball at all, still had butterflies erupting in her stomach. "Awww, our first dance," she laughed, leaning her head against his shoulder and sighing contentedly. She realized she hadn't even given him a verbal answer, but the way she started to sway to the music surely was clue enough. "The kissing can wait, maybe," she teased; this was almost as nice, hugging each other so close that it was hard to tell where she stopped and he began, listening to the way their hearts both were beating, audible to her even with the sound of the slow, romantic song that was playing on the golf course. "Do you think they're watching us on a camera somewhere and playing the song as a hint to cool off?" Kally asked him, although that was totally verging on conspiracy theory. But that was what was even better about her boyfriend; she'd always been able to say anything completely silly around him and he'd never minded. She could be herself without worrying about impressing him, and yet somehow he always did. "I feel like right now I'd be like, an infinite number of french fry emojis," she told him as the song kept going, "And I also kinda feel like maybe we should call it quits after this? Take our balls home as souvenirs instead of letting the last hole eat them." She nuzzled her nose against Lev's neck, still feeling as happy as could be. "Besides, what better ending to our first date than our first dance? Well -- first part of our first date, anyway. I'm not ready for it to totally end!"
Lev let out a sigh too. He knew that if he read about something like this before, he might've rolled his eyes with a smile and called it corny, but having Kally's head on his shoulder and the way they swaying together all alone was spectacular. It didn't feel corny at all. It just felt like a lot of care and attraction and interest and happiness culminated into a soft moment. "We have a lot of time for kissing," he agreed, nuzzling the top of her head with his own. He burst out laughing at the idea that someone was watching and controlling the music as a direct response to them . "I love your brain," he proclaimed, holding her a little closer. "That would be epic. And straight out of a fan fiction. Can I steal that if I ever write one again? Not that I think I will, but you never know, I might get inspired with all the fanfic nights in our future." It was still amazing to him that he could talk about writing fanfiction with a girl he liked, but then again, Kally was amazing. He had to start getting used to it, even if he strongly suspected he never would. He raised his brows at her suggestion but nodded with a grin. "Sounds good to me. All of that, especially this not being the end. Where should we go for First Date 2: The Sequel, your place or mine?" He quickly blushed at hearing what he'd said play back in his head before clearing his throat. "Not that I'm trying to, like, be presumptuous or anything. We can totally do anything and go anywhere, but it's just hard to picture us doing anything in specific because I just keep focusing on you," he admitted. "Anywhere we go it's going to be like it's only you and me. It's kind of wild, in the best way possible. I didn't know it felt like this. I'm kind of loving it." He smiled nervously, savoring the song as it winded down. It was still nerve-wracking sometimes being so open and honest but he knew that the girl in his arms would never make him feel bad about it and that made all the difference.
Kally’s cheeks flushed as she admitted, “Um, actually, I wouldn’t mind you being a little presumptuous. No pressure! Tonight’s already the most special night I’ve had in — I don’t know, maybe ever.” She’d had other nights that felt like they were the best at the time, but all those memories felt different, now; almost like a different Kally who had lived them, and like she was new and improved — and best of all, happy again. The final notes of the song wound down, and she was in no hurry to keep hugging, even as the ridiculous song about what the fox says started playing over the speakers at the golf course instead. Kally giggled against as she rested her head cottage his chest, sighing contentedly. “We could go to my house — I mean, what are the chances of a girl showing up wearing lingerie for Dawn twice in a row, right?” Kally finally pulled away, only lacking in reluctance because she knew leaving didn’t mean saying goodbye. She crouched down to pick her ball up off the course, tucking it and Lev’s both inside of her post, teasing, “I lost score at some point, but we totally both won tonight, right?” She pressed a quick kiss to his cheek, this time only so that they wouldn’t end up staying here for God knows how much longer, and tucked her hand into his. “Only kind of loving it? I’m definitely loving it! No matter how amazing I imagined this would be… it’s somehow even better.” Kally squeezed his hand gently as they headed towards the exit, shivering with anticipation at what her cottage might hold for them and marveling at the fact that she’d started the night miserable about how last year, this dance had been the worst night of her life… And this year, instead, it had turned into the best.

GOTTA DRINK ‘EM ALL → LEVASIN
TAGGING → Kalasin Ambrosius & Leverett Lumos (@leverettlumos)
TIMELINE → Saturday, February 3rd, 2017
SETTING → 1159 Wizard Way
SUMMARY → Kally and Lev create their own ridiculous drinking game. NSFW because of weird fanfic porn, not because they did anything sexy.
With a big container of pink lemonade in one hand, Lev knocked on the door with his other. He had been one second from bringing French fries too, but had decided to save that for if they needed food later and, with how much they were likely going to drink with this weird fanfiction game they'd thought into existance, they'd probably need it. The urge to prepare for the fanfic hunt had been strong, and he'd been ten seconds from getting a head start searching on his own time at home once his hair was messy-but-neat enough, but he had a feeling that actually playing the game would be a lot more fun that trying to win - and really, the plan was to hang out together and drink Pokemon shots, they were already both winners - and so his tablet had gone into his jacket, unused and waiting to start with the right partner. He heard footsteps coming towards the door and even though it could probably be one of her roommates, Lev swore he had a feeling that it was Kally and the smile he already had grew as the door opened.
Kally had been so excited for her plans with Lev that she’d been practically bouncing around the cottage all day, getting things set up so that it would all be perfect when he arrived. She’d tuckered herself out with all the enthusiasm, and she’d curled up on the couch in her Ewok onesie to take a nap while she waited, jolting awake at the sound of a knock on the door. Rubbing the sleep from her eyes and combing a quick hand through her curls, Kally all but sprinted towards the door and flung it open, bright eyes and wide smile on her face at the sight of him. “Hi! Come in!” she squeaked, her voice still hoarse from her nap, as she waved him inside, unable to wait any longer to show her what she’d set up. She waved towards bottles of grenandine and Bacardi and fireball, grouped together behind a cardboard cutout of the Charmander family that she’d printed out, and then to lime vodka and melon liqueur for the Bulbasaur family, blue curacao and rum for the Squirtles, and more. Gani had raised an eyebrow at her asking not only for so much liquor, but for lessons on how to pour it with style, too, but she’d just waved her sisters questions off by saying she really loved Pokemon and wanted to do the drinks the justice they deserved. “I may have went a little overboard, but I’ve been looking forward to this for the last like… four days, seven hours, and 16 minutes,” she giggled, wiggling in place as she waited to see his reaction.
Lev's stomach flipped at the sight of Kalasin's smile - it was bright enough to eclipse even the fact that she was wearing the Ewok onesie for a moment. He finally noticed it when he followed her inside, venturing into her cottage for the first time. "You look great," he laughed, the gleam in his eye proving he meant it. "I can't wait till we have our matching outfits because right now, you're officially too cool to be hanging out with me." His attention was diverted to the alcohol and he let out a "Woah" as he took it all in, setting the pink lemonade down to really get a good look at everything, from the colors to the cutouts and more. He thought his excitement had already been at an all-time high but seeing the preparation that went into their day made it even better. His eyes flickered from each display to the next, catching sight of what they'd need for the Eeveelution shots too; he had no idea where to begin, only that he really wanted to. "This is awesome!" Practically bouncing on the balls of his feet, he must have looked like a kid at a candy store as he turned to look at Kally in awe. "Come here, I love your overboard," he insisted, walking towards her and reaching out to pull her into a hug as thanks. He squeezed her tight for a moment before releasing her, saying with a grin, "And now I've hugged an Ewok? This is already the perfect day! Maybe it's because it's been four days, seven hours, and 16 minutes in the making," he joked. "All we need is a bartender dressed as Professor Oak asking which Pokemon is going to be our starter. Do you happen to have a lab coat on hand?"
Kally tried not to laugh when he said that she was too cool to hang out with him, but it was hard to keep even a mock-serious face when Lev was around. She’d had a lot of not so-smiley moments in 2017, but thanks to her newfound friendship with her favorite dungeon master, 2018 was definitely looking like it was going to be a much happier year for her. “Excuse you, I think I get to be the judge of that and I think I’m the perfect level of cool to be hanging out with you. When we get Droided up, you might be too cool for me — don’t forget the little people!” she teased, bringing a hand to her forehead and feigning dramatics for his benefit. The look on Lev’s face when he finally noticed all the alcohol had her stomach doing loop-de-loops; she’d tried really hard, and though she knew her friend would enjoy it, she wanted to capture that facial expression in her mind forever, to think back on anytime she needed something to make her feel really and truly good about herself. “Oh, phew, because I love my overboard too,” Kally confessed as she rested her head against his chest for a second. She loved hugs, and normally she could have stayed like this for ages, but she was too eager to get started, and she pulled back quickly, saying, “This Ewok has a lot more to offer you, don’t go calling the day perfect when it’s barely even begun!” She chewed on her lip thoughtfully, finally shaking her head and saying, “Sadly, I don’t think I have a lab coat. But I have like, a Hawaiian print shirt if we want to dress like Professor Kukui from Alola! Or I can just keep my onesie on and pretend that you’re being served by a very, very smart Teddiursa.” Still grinning from ear to ear, Kally went to pick up a shaker, saying, “I know that the shots are mostly supposed to be for the game, but what do you say you pick which one you want to try first and we can toast to our the start of our brand new best day ever?”
Lev smiled, his smile turning into legit laughter at her theatrics. "I'm studying to be a judge, it comes too naturally to me. But I like your ruling a lot better, so I'll allow it," he joked. It would've been too easy to go into a scene pledging his eternal devotion to hanging out together, responding like they were in a soap opera or something equally as fantastic, if there wasn't already so much to do and look at! The entire space felt as excited as he always did and it was a feeling he'd never really experienced before, but he loved it. As he hugged her he briefly wondered if she could hear his heart thumping loudly in his chest. He didn't mind if she did; if there was anyone who wouldn't think he was a weirdo for being so hype for what might be the strangest day he'd ever been a part of, it would be Kally. She was the one who had set up this wonderland of nerditude for them both, after all, but even before that she'd been nothing but happy to hear his weirdness. Hopefully he wouldn't get too weird once liquor was involved, but he wasn't too worried about that either. He wasn't worried about anything, actually, not really. He was amped up but strangely calm in his core and as he looked at the curly-haired little blue-eyed Ewok besides him, he just had a feeling that it would go down as one of his best days, just like she'd said it would be. "Drat. Remind me that we need to get you a lab coat, it's a very versatile costume. Still, that seamless transition from Star Wars to Pokemon makes this a truly sensible outfit. And besides, a Teddisura serving drinks is too adorable to resist," he commented with a gin. He rubbed his palms together as she reached for the shaker, pondering the choice like he hadn't been craving one in specific ever since looking at the drink recipes. "I say let's do it! We got to kick this off right, right? And to be honest, the Bulbasaur looked delicious in the recipes you sent me. It's not too basic to start with the first Pokemon, is it?" he laughed.
"I wish I had a gavel right now, I'd bang on the coffee table and tell you you were overruled just to make it really official," Kally informed him with a wink. "But all I've got are all these supplies Gani gave me for mixing us the perfect Poke-shots, and I don't know if you're weird about table germs or how easy these things are to break if I'm banging with too much zest." Kally twirled towards where all of the alcohol was sitting, wondering if being drunk with Lev would actually help her regain her ability to sit still, or if it would just bring her to a fever pitch instead. She didn't mind, as long as it was some version of happy Kally; there was nothing to be sad about when Leverett was around, but sometimes alcohol had a mind of its own anyway. "I have a lab coat I use when I'm in lab! It just doesn't come home with me, in case it has weird chemicals on it or anything," Kally confessed, wishing she'd snuck it out for the occasion anyway. She liked making her friend happy, and if all it took was a lab coat to see him flash that smile at her again... Well, she'd be willing to do a lot crazier things for that reaction, that was for sure. "Okay, one Bulbasaur shot, coming right up! I was kind of hoping you'd say that one; as much as I love Charmander, I'm not thrilled that his tail is lit by Fireball." Giggling, Kally picked up the first bottle -- the lime vodka. She twirled it easily, just like she'd practiced with Gani, before uncorking the bottle and tipping it towards two shotglasses. Half a shot of lime vodka, then she added the quarter of a shot of melon liqueur and a splash of lime juice. It was full practically to the brim, but she did her best not to spill it as she lifted them and passed one to Lev. "A toast -- to the last moment of our innocence, before weird fanfiction steals it away!" she joked as she raised her shot up to clink against his. "Or just a toast to you. Thanks for liking being around me as much as I like being around you, even when I’m being the weirdest weirdo.”
"Maybe I could get you a real gavel for your birthday. You deserve it to go with that nice courtroom lingo," Lev laughed admiringly, following her with his eyes as she settled among the bottles of liquor. "Table germs are a part of life but we can save the accidental breaking of things for after we've drank and can blame banging with too much zest on the alcohol. Because it's bound to happen and I'll be very Bulbasorry about it. And hey, I guess I'll just have to visit you in the lab sometime and see it for myself then," he grinned. "If weird chemicals get loose there, it'll be okay! The lab is where weird chemicals are supposed to be!" His brows raised at the mention of Fireball and he confessed, "I've actually never drank Fireball but I've heard horror stories - Charmander is something I'm going to have to save till when I can't taste things anymore." His usual proclivity towards talking took a backseat, though, as he watched Kally twirl the bottle like she'd been doing this for years. "Hot damn!" he laughed appreciatively, feeling his hands clap together once. His eyes widened as he took in her finishing off the drink and handing it to him as smoothly as he'd ever seen a drink made. It wasn't a surprise to Leverett that Kally was good at things - she was good at lots of things as far as he was concerned and he expected to discover a lot of things she was good at over the years. What did surprise him was this sensation that dawned over him, clear as crystal, that he could spend years knowing her and discovering all the things she was good at and never getting bored of it. She was just fun , and as he took the shot from her and raised it in the air a smile and a blush spread over his face. "Cheers. And thank you , oh lovely bartendress with skills for days, for making every time I talk to you something out of the best version of reality," he said back, clinking their shot glasses together and locking eyes with the girl who'd very quickly become one of his favorite people before raising the Bulbasaur shot to his lips and downing it. He braced himself for the harsh alcohol taste but instead a look of surprise spread onto his face. "That was really good!" he laughed. "Wow, you and Pokemon really do make everything better! I could drink ten of these. If, you know, it wouldn't kill me. Where you'd learn to mix like that?"
"Oh, perfect," Kally chuckled, in response to both the gavel and to the breaking things. She had a tendency to forget what she was getting for her birthday if it was discussed for months in advance like this, but somehow with Lev she actually believed that 10 months from now, he'd make good on his word. She almost believed that she wouldn't forget about it in the meantime, too; he was very memorable like that, at least to her. "Because these bartender skills I'm about to wow you with? I can guarantee you they will not be so wow once I've done like, three shots, I'm kind of a lightweight," she confessed, glad he wasn't expecting too much of her. That was the thing, though; she was pretty sure Lev never expected anything of her, but she liked showing him that she could be impressive anyway. He made her feel like she was some kind of superhero or something instead of just herself, but it didn't feel like pressure -- just like something to look forward to feeling everytime they spoke. "Bulbasorry doesn't count for the jar, does it? It was entirely too clever," she beamed, especially when he proceeded to say he'd want to come see her in the lab someday. "I kind of love that one plan with you always turns into plans for like ten more! You're adding science lab visits, I think I'm adding doing shots of fireball together on your twenty-first birthday. We can train you leading up to it, but like... it tastes like cinnamon, which is a flavor best used as a supporting role instead of as a leading one. But you have to try it at least once! It's a rite of passage," Kally declared. Her cheeks flushed slightly when he looked at her like that, all just over a little thing like twirling a bottle, and she was suddenly glad that they were about to start taking shots so that she could blame the flush on the liquor instead of on the fact that sometimes, Leverett Lumos was the easiest boy in the whole world to talk to, and others, all it took was a simple look to have her completely flustered. Keeping her eyes focused on their drinks, she didn't even realize that he was blushing, too; if she had, she might have taken comfort in the fact that at least she wasn't alone. She tipped her shot glass back and downed the shot in one swallow, raising her free hand up to Lev's for a high five. "That tasted fantastic, excellent first choice. Should I go ahead and pour our second one so we can get this game started? I've got my phone all charged to 100% and ready to look for the most ridiculous fanfiction the internet has to offer."
"I don't think I've ever done three shots in one day," Lev admitted with a grin, "so who knows? I might be even more of a lightweight than you." He had already figured that both of them would end up way too smashed at the end of the night, but that was partly why he was so excited. He rarely drank this much and if he was going to found out his drunksona with anyone, he knew it'd be the most fun with Kally. "Thank you! It should count for the jar though, only because getting fro-yo soon sounds like a treat," he laughed. He bit his lip when she commented on their habitual plan-making and nodded, letting out a deep breath. "I was so scared for a second there that you were being sarcastic, oh my god, because I love making plans with you too! Like, with some people, you say you'll do things but no one ever makes a move about it but with us? I know I'll visit you in the lab just as surely as we'll be doing fireball shots together next May. I'd say we should do them together on your 21st birthday, since that's sooner, but I don't have to be a lawyer in training to know drinking with you would be illegal. Just make sure when you're throwing that cinnamon-flavored burning down your throat that you're thinking of me," he pleaded, bringing a hand to his face dramatically before grinning widely at her. His hand raised instantly to give her a high five, relishing in the crisp clap their hands made together. It felt like a funny thing to be joyous about, but it was hard not to be happy around Kally, and he found himself beaming when she complimented his drink choice. "Please do! I've got my tablet all charged up and ready to go, too! It's like a phone but bigger, which means better," he fake-bragged, whipping it out of his jacket pocket and pressing the on-button. "So how are we going to do this? Do we start in the same fandom and try to find the most ridiculous one in that category before moving on to the next? Or do we wild off on our own and present the wackiest ones we find to each other? Because I've got ideas for both of those."
Kally smiled, confessing, “Well, I’m glad your first time’s going to be with me, then! I was actually kind of afraid that your Lawyer Lev thing would make you, you know, not want to break the law by drinking illegally, but we’re being super safe about it and this is going to be a lot of fun, so I’m really glad I was wrong.” She still had so many things to learn about Lev, like which rules he wasn’t afraid to break or at least bend, and what his favorite drink was and whether or not he snored, but she had no inclination to make a list or rush to find out all the answers. She had faith that in time she’d learn so, so much more about him — probably even tonight, since alcohol sometimes made people more honest — and she was beyond looking forward to every single moment of it. “Oh, maybe today’s eleven, then, if we’re trying to make sure froyo happens sooner rather than later!” Kally said warmly. She couldn’t even tell him it was silly that he thought she was sarcastic for even a second, because she knew how it felt to doubt something so good. Lev was almost impossibly great, and sometimes she was sure she’d wake up and the other shoe would drop and he wouldn’t want to be around her anymore, but most of the time, she was surer of their newfound friendship than she’d been of anything in a very, very long time. “And all of those things are going to be epic! More epic than my 21st birthday, probably, because no matter how many Snapchats I send you, it would still be better if you could be there.” She wore an exaggerated pout for a second, then the moment passed as soon as she’d high-fived Lev, she scurried over to the kitchen counter, where she’d left her phone plugged in earlier, and came back to hold it up proudly in front of him. “See? All ready! Let me just make us… hmm, some Espeon shots while we make up the rules.” As Kally poured the Hypnotiq, gin, and grenandine into the shotglasses for later, she tossed a few ideas out to Lev for how their game should work. “Maybe we should give ourselves like… a time limit. We could pick a category to both look in, and give ourselves like ten or fifteen minutes to find the most ridiculous one, and at the end of that time, the person whose fanfic is more outrageous gets a point.” She cast a glance towards the beautiful Espeon shots, grinning angelically as she proposed, “And I mean, I know it’s technically supposed to be that the loser drinks, but I wouldn’t want to make you do shots alone every single round. Maybe we should just drink together and figure out a prize for whoever has the most points at the end instead?”
Lev chuckled at her admission but nodded. "I mean, the charge for underage drinking is never worse than a fine or driving privileges revoked. It's not like we're doing anything that would throw us in jail. And, I don't know, I'm doing it with a friend that I trust and who can be as extra about it as I am - I can't see anything wrong with that," he assured her with a smile, very very glad indeed that his future career hadn't jeopardized today. He nodded happily at their fro-yo plans advancing, mouthing 'yes' as though they'd scored some major victory, as though they weren't going to get fro-yo together anyway and it was silly, he knew, to be so excited about everything they had planned together, but maybe it wasn't. If this was being silly, he didn't want to ever stop; it felt too nice, so nice that he was still somehow sure Kalasin would vanish into thin air despite being the realest-feeling person he'd ever met. "All the Snapchats, by the way," he laughed, "I request all the Snapchats. The only thing that'll ease the pain of missing your big night is seeing a photographic journey of you becoming drunker through the night." He held up his tablet in response, boasting the 100% battery in the corner. "I love being prepared," he sighed, beaming that they'd both thought to charge all the way. He oohed as she poured the Espeon shots and the grenadine and Hypnotiq mixed to give it a purple hue, glowing with a bit of warmth that she'd chosen his favorite Eeveelution next instead of Leafeon and Glaceon. He found himself nodding to everything she said. "Perfect! I'd have said five minutes but that's not nearly enough time to weed through all the crazy things on the internet. And we can read crazy stuff as we go but we can't reveal our winning fic until the end of our allotted time. We get to read them outloud and how do we gauge what's more outrageous? What makes us laugh more or what makes us cringe more?" He laughed at the idea of drinking alone every round, glancing at the Espeon shots admiringly. "If you make drinks like that for me each round, I'm going to start having the urge to tip you," he giggled, "so that's probably a good idea. Let's save the prize for our drunken minds to decide. Sound good?" He moved his head like he was cracking his neck, although no sound came, and then rubbed his hands together as if he were warming up. "Anything else you want to establish before we dig in? Like which category we begin with, maybe?"
Kally twirled a strand of her hair around her finger as Lev told her he trusted her. It was silly, for such a simple word to mean so much to her, but she didn’t even trust herself, not even years after what she’d accidentally done to Gani... Yet here she was, spending the day with this incredible guy who seemed to feel completely safe around her. It was a feeling she’d missed, spending the last year pretty much alone, and without thinking about it, she threw her arms around him in a hug. “Sorry, I just figured you should be the first person in Walt to hug an Ewok twice,” she said sheepishly, clinging to him for a little longer than necessary so that he couldn’t see the look of complete adoration that had taken hold of her eyes. Letting Lev go again, she smoothed out her fuzzy onesie and pulled the hood back up over her head so that she looked more like a teddy bear again, promising all the Snapchats, just as he’d requested, before refocusing her attendion and getting hed head into their game. “I almost said five minutes too, but that wouldn’t give us any time to skim the really ridiculous ones, we’d be going basically just off of summaries!” Kally said, tsking in disapproval. “We wouldn’t want to rob ourselves of really doing this right. I mean, there are hundreds of thousands of Harry Potter fanfics alone, we could spend a whole week just doing Harry Potter.” She looked towards the enormous amounts of alcohol she’d gotten -- that and the sheer number of fanfics on the Internet meant they could play this game over and over again if they had as much fun as Kalasin was sure they were about to have. “No tipping me, though! Unless it’s in like, hugs. You’re a very good hugger, you know.” She shook her head, her curls bouncing underneath the fabric of her hood, saying, “We can add more rules as we go if we think we need them, but that seems like a good place to start! Now just to pick the category -- Harry Potter? Star Wars? Teen Titans? Where to begin? I personally vote saving Harry Potter for a little later and a little drunker -- people do icky things with Animagi, I’m so positive, and that’s on top of all the kids getting shipped with Snape!”
Lev let out a little breath at the surprise hug, but his arms wrapped around Kally instantly in response, resting his head on top of hers and smiling. He wasn't exactly sure what this was for - and he wasn't going to be so dang cliche as to ask "What was that for?" - but he didn't really question it, nor did he mind. "You know how to make a guy feel special," he chuckled in response, tightening his grip just a little before finally letting go. It was true, though - on the one hand, he had never felt more like himself and less like some specialized cooler version of Lev than he did around Kally, and on the other, well, he never felt as cool regardless. That alone was enough to hug her all day if they could, and he probably would've held her for even longer if they didn't have a long day of drinking to get to, though he smiled widely at the mention of tipping her in hugs. "I might take you up on that but it'll be purely selfish," he admitted, "there's nothing better than hugging an Ewok." He felt like giggling more already; it could've been the shot kicking in, or the sight of her in that adorable onesie, or the fact that they were doing this at all, but Lev felt light and airy and happy, even as he wrinkled his nose at the idea of kids getting shipped with Snape. "I second that notion," he nodded in agreement, thinking through their options. Teen Titans was good, and Pokemon had real potential to be weird, but his mind gravitated as it always did to Star Wars. "I'm always going to vote to Maybe we should start with Star Wars! It definitely feels appropriate," he said, gesturing at her outfit, "and it seems a pretty safe category to start in while still mainly sober. Sure, it's got the cursed ship of Rey and Kylo all up in there, but what better excuse to start drinking, am I right?" He half-joked, walking over the couch with his drink in one hand. He plopped down, setting a timer on his tablet for fifteen minutes regardless of whatever fandom they picked, then looked up at her with a grin and patted the spot on the couch next to him, eager to begin their game.
“It’s my specialty ,” Kally joked, inserting her own ‘ba dum tss’ afterwards so that it was clear she knew just how cringey the play on words had been. “That and apparently being Walt’s best Ewok,” she added with a wink in Lev’s direction. She pretended to shudder at the mention of Kylo Ren and Rey, one of the worst ships imaginable if she did say so herself, and wondered if she’d miss her chance to win if she filtered them out completely on her search. She flounced onto the couch dramatically, sitting closer to Lev than she objectively should have if she wanted to hide her screen from him, but maaaaaybe he wouldn’t notice and she’d get a peek at what he was looking at, to make sure she was on the right track. Her furry Ewok leg brushed against his on the couch as she made herself comfortable, saying, “All right, I’m ready for this when you are! Although if the winning story is Reylo, we’re doing double shots this round, got it?” She nudged his arm playfully, watched as he finally hit the timer, then reluctantly took her attention away from the smiling boy next to her to focus on her phone instead. She started on Archive of Our Own, figuring that was more likely to have the really weird stuff, and quickly tapped in a few filters, aware that her time was limited. And there, right near the top, was weird right out the gate — Kylo Ren and Darth Vader, shipped together as if that wasn’t a boy and his grandfather. She pulled it open in a separate tab to skim, figuring she’d give herself 5-7 minutes to pull up potential winners and then the last 8-10 to skim through them and pick the best. Occasionally, she snuck a glance towards Lev, but for the most part she was intently focused, having to cover her mouth a few times in the process to keep from gasping loudly or worse, snorting at the ridiculous things she saw. And just like that, she felt the time creeping to a close, and she leaned her head onto Lev’s shoulder to peek at the timer, asking, “Are we almost done? Because boy, do I think I’ve got you beat.”
With the feel of a fuzzy Ewok leg besides his and an emphatic agreement to double shots if Reylo ended up rearing its ugly head, Lev delved into fanfiction. He'd never done this with a real purpose before, and it was kind of hilarious, though he probably wasn't as focused as he should've been. He kept looking up every few seconds to sneak a peek at Kally. She looked like she was having a good time, and as he looked through filters to find something interesting, every movement or noise she made kept getting his attention. He took a breath and tried a new tactic, Googling weird Star Wars fanfiction and almost immediately finding a gross Jabba the Hut one. He made a weird noise of disgust before looking up at Kally and laughing. "I think I found one that's too gross," he admitted, keeping the tab open but switching back to Archive of Our Own. As expected, a lot of Reylo, a ton of Kylo/Hux, and a few Kylo/Readers that looked laughably bad. One of them was somehow centered around Hux's cat. He chuckled as his gaze went past a Luke/Han high school AU and was intrigued by a few other descriptions. He had a few favorites by the time their time was almost done and he tsked at Kalasin's question, angling his tablet away as her head met his shoulder. "We have less than a minute left, which I'll need to pick between my many fabulous finds," he taunted, his trash talk tainted by the smile he wore. "One thing's for sure, no matter what we pick, I'm going to need a drink." He looked amongst the choices again and picked one by the time the timer went off and he knocked his knee against hers lightly in excitement. "So what are we thinking, ladies first?"
Kally quirked an eyebrow at Lev when he said one was too gross, wondering what his definition of that even was. With how easy it was to talk to him, she sometimes forgot that they really hadn’t been friends all that long, but she couldn’t predict yet what his triggers might be or which things would really gross him out in these fanfics. She was weirdly excited about the chance to find out, though; Lev was so interesting to her, she wanted to know as much as she could about him. “I guess I’ll find out soon if it’s grosser than what I’m finding or not!” Kally giggles as she continued to scroll, clicking on some of the most commented stories of all time and surely pulling a number of strange faces in the process. She bumped her knee back against Lev’s, teasing, “close enough to done! I’m ready to bleach my brain with an Umbreon and an Espeon shot.” Sitting back upright, she said triumphantly, “I’m happy to share first and get it over with! Drumroll, please.” She leaned forwards and tapped it her hands quickly on her coffee table, creating fanfare for herself and then saying, “The fanfic I found is called Jabba’s New Slave, and poor, poor Luke Skywalker will never be the same for me after this. Wanna see?” Kally held her phone out to him, where she had the story pulled up, ready for Lev to suffer the same way that she had.
Lev almost lost his train of thought again when Kally giggled, automatically curious as to what she'd found, but it was a good standard to judge a fic upon; if he could be taken out of the disturbingness of Hux's cat leading the reader to the Commander's room where Kylo Ren waited naked under a towel, it probably wasn't a disturbing enough fic to win. In fact, none had been as engrossing as that Jabba one and so as their time drew to a close, he settled on it as his champion. He could hardly wait for Kally to go so that he could share, sure that they'd both be rolling in hysterics by the end. Lev tapped his hands against his the tablet on his lap in time with Kally's drumroll, and his jaw dropped instantly when she read out the name of the fic. His entire face lit up as he shook his head. "No way," he muttered with a grin, sitting upright and swinging the arm closest to Kalasin behind her back to rest on the back couch so he could scootch even closer and show her his tablet, where the same fic, "Jabba's New Slave" on Fanfiction.net, shone on the screen. "I was about to show you the same one! I'm even more sorry that you had to read that one with your own two eyes though because I swear I'm never going to be able to watch Return of the Jedi the same again," he laughed, the image of Jabba the Hutt ruined further because of this strange piece of erotica. "I can't tell what the worst part was, I honestly can't. The whole thing was gross but at the end, when the author asks the audience what Jabba should do to Luke next? I freaking lost it." His face was red from laughing about how gross the whole thing was, and how funny it was, too, that of the thousands of Star Wars fics online, they'd managed to settle upon the same one.
Kally’s jaw dropped when Leverett tilted his screen towards her, revealing the exact same story that she’d found, and then finally she burst into a fit of laughter. “Ooooooh my God, I can’t breathe,” Kally told him she leaned into his side to steady herself, the laughter finally slowing. “It’s just so much! Like, talking about Jabba the Hutt’s penis being ‘slick and ready to breed him’? I can’t handle it, how do people even think of this stuff? How do Hutts even BREED? Like, I do not feel fully convinced that big tubba blubba had like, reproductive organs on his body.” She was incredibly comfy where she was, and surprisingly not embarrassed to be skimming through bizarre Star Wars erotica with Lev, but a deal was a deal, and she reluctantly peeled herself away from him to grab their shots. “Well, we definitely would have needed two shots this round anyway, it’s a tie!” She deftly poured coconut rum and spiced rum together into the spare set of shot glasses she’d had ready, so that they could take the Espeon and Umbreon shots consecutively, and smiled proudly at Lev as she held his two favorite Eeveelutions out to him in what she hoped was delicious alcohol form. “I still can’t believe of the hundreds of thousands of Star Wars fanfics out there, we found the same one! What do you think, will we actually find different stories next round when we do Teen Titans?” Her hands now free of Lev’s shots, she picked up her own, one in each hand, and raised them towards Lev. “A toast, to us hopefully having much better sex lives in the future than poor Luke Skywalker did in that story.”
Hearing her say words like 'slick' and 'breed' and 'penis' made Lev giggle badly. "I know, right? I was doing just fine in life not imagining any sort of genitalia on him." He pretended to flick away tears from his eyes even though he wasn't actually crying from laughter yet. He already felt like he could laugh all day, so the tears was sure to be coming. "And Jabba rumbling happily, oh my god. If I'm ever about to sleep with someone who rumbles at any point or asks me to 'put on a show' now, I swear the flashbacks to this fic alone will be enough to send me running." He bit his lip as he wondered why he'd bother making it personal at all and talking about his imaginary sex life when that wasn't usually something he brought up - it must be the fault of the alcohol, but he wasn't embarrassed, not really. He'd never lied to Kalasin in their relatively new friendship and so telling her anything wasn't weird, even if the idea of her thinking about him in that position sent more blood rushing to his face. Thankfully he was quickly distracted by the two Eeveelution drinks handed to him, looking down at them and noting their colors as his top two Eeveelutions. "My favorites! You just get me," he laughed, a brilliant grin on his face as he took a moment to appreciate her friendship and her drink making skills. "You're awesome. Awesomely awesome. And I found the same fic as you which means I must be awesome too. But we have to find different ones for Teen Titans, if we take two shots for every time we're gonna die before we get halfway through and we gotta drink em all!" He raised his shots in response and giggled at her toast but nodded. "To good sex!" he paraphrased before tossing a shot. He paused for a bit to gauge the taste, flashing a thumbs up in Kally's direction before taking the other one. "And, just like in real life, I can't decide my favorite because they're both too good." He licked his lips and now, definitely now, could feel the alcohol in his system. He set the timer to fifteen minutes again and swiveled in his seat so his back was against the arm of a chair and he was facing Kalasin. "So we can't cheat," he laughed, though it was also because he liked looking at her in between fics and seeing the looks she gave the work. He asked if she was ready a few times and, when he got the signal, he pressed Start on the timer. "Titans, go!" he insisted playfully before instantly flipping over to Archive of Our Own instantly and choosing a few key filters. Time was of the essence and he was intent on finding something new this time, something shocking. Something that would make Kalasin look at him with that surprised face of amusement and joy would just make this the perfect round.
Kally wiggled her eyebrows at Lev, joking, “And what if I tell your future girlfriend you’re really, really into the rumbling thing?” She’d never do any such thing for real, she wanted her friend to be happy -- plus, it was kind of pointless if she wasn’t there to see his reaction anyway, it promised to be the kind of thing that would make her laugh until tears streamed down her face, and she’d be a little jealous if some other girl was the one witnessing it instead of her. But if she paused too long to think about it, she would have realized that that was a very strange desire indeed, so instead she just happily moved onto the task. “I think I liked the taste of the Umbreon better, I’m not super into the Hypnotiq,” she decided, before batting her eyes at Lev hopefully. “Would it be okay if our drinks for next round were the Glaceon shots? We can always come back to these again later, if we’re still standing,” she giggled, the rush of the shots inside of her body making her feel drunker even before they’d had time to really hit her system. Kalasin playfully waved a bottle just in front of Lev’s eyes, as if it were a watch that she was hypnotizing him with instead of just a bottle of peppermint schnapps, poured into her and Lev’s empty glasses to meet Irish cream. Finally, she plopped down on the couch again, pouting at Lev being so far away on the other end, and she twisted her body too, until she was sitting cross legged on the couch, practically staring him down. “Fine, two can play this game!” she threatened as the timer started and she was off, searching for more fanfics. She decided Fanfiction.net might be the better place to look this time, and she skimmed intently, occasionally looking up to watch Lev’s reaction, her head feeling a little light everytime she looked up thanks to the alcohol swimming inside of her stomach now. As the fifteen minutes ticked past, she found boring fanfics about the Titans listening while Robin and Raven were locked in a closet for Spin the Bottle, and eventually flipped the filters so that she was looking at mature fics only, sure those would be the most ridiculous of all. Stories of the Titans being assassinated one by one felt too dark; others were just traditionally smutty fics about Beast Boy and Terra after she’d regained her memory. Only a few stood out -- one with Beast Boy as Slade’s apprentice instead, where only Raven could fuck him back to his senses. One with Raven as Malchior’s lover, rather than running from him in fear. They made Kally wrinkle her nose up, and she even accidentally grabbed Lev’s foot in shock to keep herself from falling off the couch at one point, but finally, as her time ticked to a close, she felt confident that she’d found a winner, and as the seconds ticked down, she said, “Okay, you first this time!” and did her best not to snicker every time she saw the summary of her story, proudly explaining: ‘Robin wants to take a little more control in the bedroom, Slade allows it. Cowgirl, meaning Robin rides Slade's cock, with bondage.‘ Kally knew she was going to have a hard time reading ‘Training the stud’ out loud to Lev without cracking up, but hopefully, if he’d done as good of a job as she had, she wouldn’t be alone in that problem.
"Then I'll tell your future boyfriend that you're really into whatever weird thing we find in the next fics! I know that's not much of a threat right now, but it could be," Lev said, laughing at his own really bad comeback. He felt his breath hitch as she batted her big blue eyes at him like they were in some movie or something and he giggled. "You're cute," he blurted out before he could stop himself, clearing his throat before adding, "But heck yeah, girl, bring on the Glaceon! What kind of Pokemon nerds are we if we don't try them all?" He couldn't stop laughing as she swung the bottle in front of his eyes, murmuring something about feeling like he was face to face with a Hypno before having another drink on hand and, with a satisfied smile, feeling ready for the game. His smile grew at the sight of her turning to face him; it made this feel more competitive than the first round. Which was probably a good thing since there was less Titan fic to choose from than Star Wars, that was for sure. More characters died than they did something ridiculous, and every time he gazed up at Kally she wondered if her luck was faring any better. Finally, he saw a smutty BBRae piece about Raven getting attacked by a green blob with tentacles, except it wasn't quite an attack. With a little gasp at the content, he opened it in a new tag, continuing on. Soon after he saw a Beast Boy and Robin slash, a pairing so rare and a description so vague that it wasn't until he saw the tags Foot Worship and Foot Fetish that he wondered what on earth it could be about. Almost as soon as he read the word 'foot' for the first time, he felt a hand on his own foot and looked up at Kalasin making a face at her screen. He burst out laughing and shook his head. "I'm sorry, but the timing of that couldn't be more perfect. You'll see," he warned her in between giggles, that choice and a continued reading of this weird weird fic making the final decision between which piece he'd show her. Time ran out and Lev shifted in his seat, moving as close to Kalasin now as he could to share his screen with her. "Alrighty. I found a nice little story called 'Seeking Refuge' by WasabiAlarm." He cleared his throat, reading out the description: " 'Robin and Beast Boy find themselves stranded in the jungle. After tracking down shelter for the night, they take full advantage of being shacked up in the wild.' Sounds innocent enough, right? But take a look at the tags," he insisted with a self-satisfied grin. "That's right, my dear Kalasin, this story is about how much Robin has apparently wanted to fuck Beast Boy this entire time, but not as much as he's wanted to fuck Beast Boy's feet. And fair warning, no one has ever used more adjectives to describe a foot in their entire lives than this writer." He smiled proudly, holding his tablet between them so she could get a look herself, hopeful that he'd at least made her laugh, before excitedly insisting, "Now tell me what you found and we can read each other our favorite passages or something!"
Kally was caught off guard by Lev calling her cute, her eyes widening in surprise, and then she instantly shook her head so vehemently that her Ewok hood slid back down off her head again. “Nuh uh, you’re the cute one, I can’t take your title!” she protested in a tipsy fit of giggles, eyeing her already poured shot and almost wanting to take it now, just for fun. She was kind of loving how exhilarated and blissfully happy she felt right now, although maybe the shot wouldn’t make a difference anyway -- she had a feeling that a large part of that feeling could be attributed to Lev instead anyway. “Gotta drink ‘em all, Pokemoooon,” Kally sang terribly, her last spoken words before she switched back into hardcore game mode. She wanted to win, sure, but more than that, she just wanted to see the look on Lev’s face when she found something truly absurd -- although the look on his face when he found something wild was close enough. “Oh my God, did you find a foot fetish story?” she asked, but then dramatically hushed herself, pointing at his screen and at hers to show that they should be reading instead of talking. Kally dropped her phone into her lap in shock when Lev said that he had found a foot fetish story, though, and she slapped her own knee to try and stop the laughter -- and coughing -- that were coming out of her in response. “I can’t believe I guessed right, I can’t believe someone wrote that, I’m so -- people write the weirdest things, look at this!” Kally scooted as close to Lev as she could get, not sure how good his eyesight was, especially after three shots in thirty minutes, and held ‘Training the Stud’ up so close to his nose that she was pretty sure she hit it. Pulling her phone back to herself, she booped his nose as way of silent apology and said, “Okay, if I can’t get through reading this, though, I fully give you permission to take my phone out of my hand and read the rest yourself. And, without further ado...” Kally sucked in a deep breath, her face feeling red either from the words jumping off her screen, the closeness to Lev, or the alcohol, she couldn’t be sure. She’d practically tucked herself right up under his shoulder to read this, though, but her voice still came out embarrassingly loud as she struggled to read with a straight face. “The best lines include: As Slade had used him like doll with a warm and tight hole, shouldn’t he just bother with his lover’s cock? A large and warm dildo for him to use as much as he desired? But a dildo couldn’t come…” Kally had to pause in between words to keep herself from wheezing with laughter, her face beet red, and she snuck a glance up at Lev to see his reaction before skimming to find the other one she’d really wanted to read aloud, for all its ridiculousness. Feeling a little woozy, she snuggled closer to Lev’s side to keep from falling over laughing again, cleared her throat, and tried the next passage, too. “The beautiful nude body of his lover bounced with every movement and the pretty cock left squirts of precum on his shirt.... Okay, I give up, I can’t read anymore, I can’t take Slade and Robin and cock rings and hygienic wipes seriously, I just can’t!” she gasped, turning to bat her eyes at Lev and saying, “Your turn. Think your foot fetishist story can beat that?”
"Cute cute cute," Lev protested with a pout. "Besides, if we share Ramblevania, why can't we share cute? Sharing is caring." He had no idea how Kally couldn't think she was the cute one, everything about her was more than adorable. She was almost too cute to tear his attention away from but he had to, for the sake of finding the perfect fic. He was grateful that she didn't let him answer her question, because the look on her face when she found out that she'd guessed foot fetish correctly was so worth it. "You're the best guesser in the world," he congratulated, taking a moment to clap for Kally before she showed him her find. He wasn't sure if he was really really drunk or if she was holding the screen too close, but when it touched his nose he had his answer and he couldn't help but beam when she booped his nose, as he wrinkled it with a smile as a silent answer. It made him feel adorable which was a weird feeling to have before listening to the dirty, dirty words that were about to come out of her mouth. Lev found himself turning bright red pretty quickly as he shook with laughter at the imagery of Robin and Slade in a position like that. He covered his gasps and giggles with a free hand and it was all the best kind of ridiculous. "Oh my god," he murmured, losing it at the words 'the pretty cock' for some reason and the way it sounded with Kally's pretty voice. He was right earlier - he laughed so hard that tears came out. "Holy shit, people are messed up! That's amazing," he insisted between giggles, booping Kally on the nose like she'd done to him earlier. He had to take a few deep breaths to calm down and get less red and giggly before refocusing on the task at hand. "And no, actually, I think you won already, but I'll read some anyway just to make it fair." Clearing his throat, he took one look at Kalasin and turned red again, knowing he was about to say some weird stuff. "Don't judge me," he warned her jokingly, and then began. "Beast Boy's tattered leggings were starting to become a nuisance, simply due to his arousal. He wanted Robin to worship him, just like he dreamt he would. 'I knew it... you love my feet,' he said, feeling the hot, wet tongue massage his thick soles and toes," Lev read, doing his best Beast Boy impression as he read those lines, though admittedly it wasn't quite good. He had to clear his throat yet again before continuing on. "Robin nearly buried his head in Beast Boy's feet, moving his tongue over them with less and less control. Beast Boy moaned aloud as Robin serviced his seductive young feet. He wiggled and spread his toes as he drew his fingertips over the bulge in his pants. "Mmmmm, you're so good Robby..." Lev had tried to do his best aroused moan as he said that last line but he couldn't handle it, and he buried his face into the top of Kally's hair, shaking with laughter. "Oh my god, I had one more thing about Beast Boy pitching a tent in his banana boxers but I can't, I can't! I vote that you won this round, Robin did way weirder stuff to Slade than he did to Beast Boy, Judge Lumos rules it so!" He banged his palm against his own knee like a makeshift gavel and looked at her with large admiring eyes. "But you're welcome to drink with me anyway. It's more fun when we both do it. Everything's better when we both do it," he admitted with a giggle. "And it's supremely satisfying. To being supremely satisfied!" He didn't need to toast again, but as he grabbed his Glaceon drink he was too overcome with joy in the moment to not . He waited till they were done with their shots and then leaned back in, resting his head and his side against her and holding an arm around her like a half-hug. He meant to tell her what fandom he wanted to do next before realizing that he'd been silent for too long, just holding her. "Oh, I'm sorry, you're comfortable," he laughed. "Let's do Pokemon next, please," he pleaded, the four shots in his system working their magic.
Kally had to cover her mouth with one hand as she shook with giggles; Lev’s story with the foot fetish was too much for her to handle, and she would have vehemently disagreed that she was the winner of the round if he hadn’t told her that she could drink with him, anyway. His words rang supremely true as her head got foggier; everything was better together, and after the Glaceon shots, she poured Leafeon for the next round and curled up close to Lev. After that, the rounds flew by; absurd stories from Pokemon, from How I Met Your Mother, from Harry Potter and more blurring before her eyes as each Vaporeon, Squirtle, and Jolteon made her gigglier and clingier. By the last round, her legs were draped over Lev’s lap and her head was resting on his shoulder, and she spent almost as much of her time peeking at his screen as she did looking at her own. Two hours in, they were way too drunk to keep playing, and Kally called in an order for delivery burgers and fries to come to her cottage instead, sure in her drunken haze she’d ordered what seemed like way too much food for two people. She didn’t care, though; she was having fun, and no matter how much money was on her debit card come morning, it was more than worth it. Lev’s laughter rang in her ears, to where she wasn’t sure if he was still laughing or if she just liked the sound of it so much that she was imagining it at this point, but did it matter? He was still here, he was still real... and he was about to drink his first shot with fireball in it, if she had her say! “Come oooooon, Flareon’s the only Eeveelution we have left, I know you were going to save it for your twenty-first birthday but we haaaave to,” Kally pleaded, jutting her bottom lip out at him and batting her eyelashes innocently. “I’m going to make them now, and you wouldn’t let me drink alone, right?” She picked up the ingredients, splashing in Bacardi 151, dropping in a pinch of cinnamon that fell more on the table than into their glasses, and finally she picked up the cinnamon schnapps and tried to recreate the earlier flare that Lev had liked so much. She was drunker now, though, and much, much clumsier, and as she twirled the bottle, the pour lid sent liquid shooting out of the bottle, not in the direction of the half-completed drink but instead towards the couch and right onto Lev’s shirt. Kally gasped, setting the bottle down clumsily on the table as she moved to tend to Lev instead. No napkins were in her hand, though; she just tried to pat the wet shirt as if her hands would suddenly dry him off, and she patted the wet fabric a few times before realizing, “Yikes, yikes, I’m so sorry, we should probably just take this off and wash it, right? Here, let me help?” Her head spinning, Kally let her hands drop to the bottom of his t-shirt, sliding cool fingers underneath it to help tug it over his head, practically toppling into his lap from the effort. She was stuck in a place of being horrified and laughing hysterically at the whole thing, though, and it wasn’t until she determined that Lev might actually be stuck from her trying to get his clothes off of him that she dropped her hands back into her lap and whined, “I’m making things worse, aren’t I?”
Lev didn't know why people were so against drinking; it made time move both quickly and slowly, making it possible to savor the moments and laughter as they came while also skipping through time and space to end up with one arm slung over Kally's shoulders and the other resting on her knees, cozy as could be. The only thing needed to make this better was food, and he kept thinking over and over to slip Kally a twenty or two to make up for the delivery by the time he left her cottage. Whenever that would be, for as he got drunker he was positve he'd be crashing overnight. He heard the call to action, for the last of the Eeveelutions, and he pouted in return as if pleading her not to, but she was just so danged cute that he couldn't hold a pout for long. He groaned in defeat, squeezing her under his arm. "I can't say no to that face," he admitted, the drunken truth coming out slightly slurred. "And besides, at least I won't taste it too much now." He was laughing as she tried that bartender flair that had left him dumbfounded but before he could cheer her on there was cinnamon-scented liquid all over the front of his shirt and he had no idea how it'd gotten there. It only made him laugh more, though, and he kept saying stuff like 'it's fine" or "it's okay" between giggles as she tried cleaning him up. He stopped laughing when he realized she didn't have napkins at all, that it was just her hands against his wet shirt, but that realization was hilarious to his drunken mind and so he started laughing again. It wasn't until she tried taking his shirt off and asked if she was making things worse that he stopped laughing altogether. "No, no, you're doing so good!" he immediately cooed. His hands wrapped around her wrists as he talked to her, looking her in the eyes no matter how blurry she felt. "You're so so good. What if we teamwork it though? I'll take my shirt off while you get some of those napkins from the counter and we can regroup in a few. Okay?" He pulled her in by her hands a little closer until he could place a kiss on her forehead and before he could wonder why he did that, he let go of her and reached down and removed his shirt, lifting it easily over his head and dropping it onto the couch besides him. Lev looked down at himself, wondering if he'd feel more self-consicous about his shirtless self if he was sober. Unless he was in a rare vain mood, he usually hated being shirtless, but Kally never made him feel bad about the things he felt bad about. In fact, she usually ended up making him feel better about them, like she made him feel better about most things. It was one of his favorite things about her. Along with, well, everything else. And he didn't look too bad, he thought as he took himself in, although that was probably the liquor talking. Idylly, he brought a hand to his stomach and ran it over his muscles, not really realizing how wet he'd gotten until then. "Fireball," he drawled to himself, so lost in rambling-drunk-thoughts that he'd forgotten that he'd asked for napkins until Kally was there, a presence in his space again and he looked at her expectantly, locking in on her big blue eyes as soon as he could. For a moment he forgot that he was shirtless but when he looked at her, he was reminded by the look on her face and his own face went warm, finally realizing that this was happening.
Kally’s breath hitched as Lev grabbed her wrists; her mind was too foggy to have any idea what he might do next, but she was cognizant enough to know that she wasn’t scared, at least. Her inability to breathe had more to do with the thrill of anticipation; she’d been so frantic to get him cleaned up and undo her wet, cinnamon-y mistake that she hadn’t realized just how close she was to him... or how much she kind of wanted to be closer. She held her breath, staring at him with wide, unblinking eyes as he got closer, and her eyes finally moved, flicking to his lips and wondering... But she didn’t have to wonder for long. His lips pressed against her forehead, like she was a little kid being tucked into bed, and that made it easy to scurry off towards the kitchen to grab paper towels instead, like he’d instructed. By the time she was back, with a whole roll of them in her hands, trailing along the floor behind her as they unrolled against her will, she’d forgotten her drunken moment of disappointment, and was all tipsy, too-big smiles again. “I’m baaaaack,” she sing-songed as she came back into view of Lev, still where she’d left him on the couch, only this time he was actually shirtless, stroking his fingers along his toned stomach and leaving her speechless. It wasn’t like she hadn’t seen shirtless guys before -- she definitely had, even just her roommates wandering around the house looking for spare clothing. And truthfully, it wasn’t like Lev was more muscular than them or anything -- they were all nicely built guys, but something about the boy on her couch made her freeze in her tracks and swallow thickly, whereas if this were Dawn or Napoleon she would have just rolled her eyes and gone back to her room. “I -- wow,” Kally stammered, her cheeks hot and her knees feeling a little wobbly. “You look... wow, all that running we’ve been doing, you’re -- “ she managed, flustered. Maybe her drunken mind was just playing tricks on her, though, and the body that she apparently couldn’t tear her eyes away from was just a figment of her imagination and... Suddenly she was very glad for the paper towels in her hands, as she remembered that she was supposed to be helping him clean off, not just staring. Kally was aware enough of her actions to blush in embarrassment, but drunk enough to not let it stop her from climbing onto the couch, one leg on either side of Lev, as she pulled a couple of paper towels off of the roll and used them to actually wipe him down this time, letting the towels brush over him slowly and deliberately, her heart speeding up in her chest as she realized that his muscles felt as good as they looked. He didn’t seem to be pushing her away, either; she was essentially staddling his lap, and as she used another paper towel on him, Kally realized he was also probably dry now, but she was either too drunk to move or just drunk enough to know that she didn’t want to. Kalasin let go of the paper towels, her fingers tracing shapes aimlessly on his chest now, wiggling a little bit to try and get a better angle as she slurred out excuses for the fact that she just really, really couldn’t keep her hands off of her friend. “Guess what Pokemon I’m drawing,” she asked, her voice half a giggle and half hoarse from the stupid lump that had formed in her throat again. “I can... give you a hint if you want,” she murmured, her eyes finally flicking up from where her fingers trailed across his bare skin. She’d meant for them to go all the way up to reach his eyes, but they stopped short on his lips -- they looked full, and soft, and probably tasted amazing from all the fruity drinks they’d tried over the last few hours. Or just because he was Lev; everything was great when it was Lev, and maybe if she’d been sober she would have panicked at the sudden realization that she wanted to kiss those lips, and maybe ruin their friendship because of it. But she wasn’t sober -- she was drunk, and her inhibitions were down, her filter was gone, and she was leaning closer and closer to Lev without even meaning to, tilting her head down towards his, whispering, “I just like being around you so, so much, can I...?” Kally finally forced her eyes to meet his, and she wasn’t sure what she read there; her eyes were a little bit out of focus, and when she licked her bottom lip she could have sworn she saw a tiny nod... Her lips were barely a whisper away from his when suddenly the doorbell rang, and Kally quickly diverted her lips away from his, careening them towards his cheek and placing a quick kiss there instead. “Food’s here!” she exclaimed, topping backwards off of the couch, landing on her butt and barely hitting her back against the coffee table. She pushed herself up off the ground and all but ran towards the door to get the food, not turning around to look to see if Lev looked as disappointed as she felt that she’d been interrupted just shy of kissing him.
Leverett had never seen Kally so still before. He was filled with instant regret for not covering himself with a pillow and he felt guilty for exposing her to something that paralyzed her in embarassment and discomfort but he couldn't tear his gaze away from her eyes and the longer Lev looked at her the more he realized that maybe he'd read her wrong. Maybe she wasn't disgusted by him. Maybe the way she looked at him was something else. It was an odd thing to consider but she was blushing and flustered and complimenting his body. "It's, um. Thanks," he replied nervously before clearing his throat and asking if she'd bring the paper towels over. He nodded in gratitude and thanked her but he stuttered a bit when he realized she wasn't simply handing him the roll but rather trying to clean him up herself. The blush across his face intensified as she settled in on his lap. She was light but a definite presence in his personal space, and if his pulse picking up and ab muscles flexing under her touch was any sign, he didn't mind in the slightest. He felt almost silly for how his body reacted especially when, no matter how big her eyes had looked and how much it could've seemed like she liked taking in the sight of him, this was nothing sexual. It was just a friend helping out another friend, but still, he'd never had a girl this close to him before. And he was shirtless and drunk and she was touching him with soft determination and he couldn't even think of whether the liquor had been wiped off yet or not; in fact, he could hardly think about anything that wasn't Kally. She was so warm and so close that he could smell her, whatever her shampoo was mixed with some cinammon from the schnapps and it was all he could do to look at her in quiet amazement. She was so pretty. This didn't even feel real, it was like something out of his fantasies. Not that he'd actively fantisized about Kally before, because that would make this new friend thing hard, very hard, but when she dropped the paper towels and he felt her fingers touch him, her skin on his skin, he half-gasped at the sensation. "That feels nice," he managed, his breathing more ragged than it'd been. His reaction would've been a lot more embarassing if he had enough blood near his face to warm it up, but all of a sudden he didn't, and it felt so good to have her touching him and wiggling on his lap and oh god, her voice. It sent tingles and tightness down his torso and he rested his hands on her onesie-clad thighs and wished he could feel more skin. Woah. Was that a weird thing to want? He tried focusing on her words instead of the places his mind was racing, but he couldn't even mouth "Who's that Pokemon?" to go along with her game. How was it possible to make sense of words right now when all he wanted was more? More touching, more tracing, more skin. The only thing he wanted less of was space; they'd felt close all evening and suddenly there was too much space between them and it was driving him crazy. Her eyelashes looked so pretty when she looked down, and when her gaze raised his heartbeat quickened as he noted that she was looking at his mouth. He licked his lips, his mouth drier than it'd been a second ago. Was she about to kiss him? And if she wasn't, could she please? He didn't even know it till it was a possibility, but god, he wanted to kiss her. He wanted her to kiss him, to kiss him so hard that he couldn't remember what anything else had ever felt like. His hand raised tentatively to her face, tracing the shape of her jaw and relishing the opportunity to touch her, and when she whispered to ask permission, it was like each and every moment and every laugh and every smile and every text and every memory that they had formed together was its own chrysalis in his stomach and they all exploded into butterflies at once. If he was sober, he might've thought harder about what this meant for this friendship and whether or not she was doing this because she was drinking or because she really liked him too, but right now the regulations that ruled his world slipped away leaving one thing abundantly clear. He felt a shift in the universe as their eyes met and he nodded his consent, edging closer to her too and feeling more and more electricity charge him up with every millimeter - and then the doorbell rang. It was a foreign noise, almost impercetible to him, but then all of a sudden just like that Kalasin was out of his lap and out of his space, leaving only the feeling of a quick kiss on his cheek. He hardly registered that she was getting the food as he raised a hand to the cheek she'd kissed, eyes wide with surprise at the turn of events the afternoon had taken. Calm down, calm down, he told himself over and over while he had a little bit of time to himself to regroup. It was okay, it was all okay. His brain was foggy because of the alcohol and they'd just been having so much fun that it was understandable that he'd gotten confused. It wasn't a big deal. And he smiled and relaxed, his drunk mind letting him have fun again and pretend it had meant nothing - that is, until Kally was back with the food and his heart did a heavy tha-THUMP at the sight of her. That was unfortunate. "Yay food!" he cheered, clearing his throat and pushing himself back on the couch, making more space for them both, the weirdness of moments prior already fading towards something that he'd think about later when he had more of a mental capacity to overexamine it and replay it and commit every moment to memory. For now, all they had to do was talk and eat and have fun, things that they knew they were good at. And good at it they were, joking and giggling like old friends about the things they'd read and what they were eating and anything and everything else until most if not all of the food was gone, until he felt completely calm and at peace again, and until they yawned even more often than they laughed.
It was almost as if the food arriving had hit reset on the day -- or night, now, Kally supposed, since she’d been cooped up with Lev long enough for the sun to set and for dinner to have arrived. With Lev a few inches away instead of just millimeters, and with a giant burger in front of her smelling so good that she realized she was apparently just as if not more desperate for food than she was to kiss her friend, it was easy to almost feel like she’d imagined the whole thing. Like she’d had some kind of crazy drunk hallucination where she was in Leverett Lumos’s lap and she was driving him as crazy as she felt from being so near him. After all, everything about the rest of the night felt normal; french fry sword fights, stuffing her face with food and feeling her head get a little clearer with time and water, laughing and joking around and playing non drinking games the rest of the evening... Kally didn’t want the day to end, but after a while, she could hardly keep her eyes open any longer. They started to droop closed, and her head nodded off onto Lev’s shoulder -- involuntarily, this time. She snapped to attention, realizing what she’d done, and quickly apologized. “I’m so sorry -- I’ll jar myself for that in the morning, I promise -- but I don’t think I can stay awake for like, another minute. You won’t hate me if I go to sleep, right?” Kally knew he wouldn’t; it was pointless to even ask, but amongst all the fun and the near-perfectness of the night, there had been enough slightly weird moments for her to just want to double check that everything was okay. From the way Lev’s eyes were half-closed, too, though, she could tell that if she hadn’t proposed sleep, he would have done the same very soon, and sleepily, she offered, “You can come sleep in my bed if it’s more comfy, or out here’s okay too, whatever you want.” Lev shook his head no, and Kally was too tired to even feel disappointed as she watched him lie almost instantly down on the couch, curling up and making himself comfortable while she fetched a blanket and pillow from her room and tucked him in. “Sweet dreams, Leverett,” she whispered as she was crouched over him, kissing his cheek like she had earlier, close to the corner of his mouth. She was afraid that if she let herself get any closer, she would have actually kissed his lips, though -- but that wasn’t happening tonight, that maybe wasn’t happening ever. Maybe sober Kally would wake up and think she’d lost her damn mind from the alcohol. Maybe sober Lev would wake up and make a mental note to stay far away from her physically when they hung out from now on. She didn’t know what tomorrow held; she only knew that her immediate future held sleep and hopefully sweet, sweet dreams of all the things they’d done tonight... and maybe a few of the things that they hadn’t quite done, too. Flicking the light off, Kally climbed under her covers and her head had only barely hit the pillow when sleep took control.
His eyes had been closed for a little longer than the average blink when Kalasin took a break on his shoulder. It woke Lev up a little and he shook his head at her apology, yawning. "I could never hate you," Lev promsied sleepily, smiling at her. It had been winding down to bedtime for a while but he hadn't wanted to say anything; if sleep wasn't a thing, Lev could've done this for days, even after what would henceforth be referred to in his own mind as The Incident. Being around Kally was fun and it made him feel good inside, but he was starting to fall asleep where he was sitting, for crying out loud. Shaking his head at her offer to share her bed, he mumbled a good night with the energy as he had left and fell to the couch, eyes closed almost instantly. They opened a few more times throughout the night, the first being at the feel of a blanket being draped over him. It was so simple but the gesture was so sweet he could almost feel his heart growing as he lifted his head to let her adjust the pillow. And then she kissed his cheek again and before he had time to dissect it, he found himself whispering back "Sweet dreams, Kalasin," and going to sleep almost immediately with a contented sigh. The second time his eyes opened was much less pleasant. He felt an uncomfortable pressure on his midsection and he woke up with a start. Someone was sitting on him - Kalasin's roommate, Napoleon, if he had to guess in this low lighting, and that was how he remembered that he was in Kalasin's cottage instead of his own. Whoever it was hastened off of Lev with mumbled apologies but he still scrambled to sit up and, a little self-conscious now that he felt like he was loitering in the living room. He didn't know what time it was, but he knew it was still dark out and that he didn't want to stay in the living room if he was getting in anyone's way, and so he hurried away and trekked down the hall to Kalasin's room. He knocked lightly on her door before opening it just a crack, not wanting to interrupt whatever if she happened to be awake. "Kally?" he whispered through the doorway, waiting a moment before walking in. He closed the door quietly behind him and took a pause. There was something intimate and so cute about seeing her all small in her bed and he wondered for a moment if he should let her keep sleeping and just lay down on the floor. However, he was still sleepy enough to disregard those boundaries and wander over to sit on the side of her bed. He reached tentatively for her bare shoulder and shook it just a little, whispering her name all the while. When he was sure she was awake enough to hear him, he smiled apologetically at her for waking her up and dang it if seeing her face again made his heart thump loud and wet in his chest. He made sure to speak softly so that he wasn't too much of a rude awakening and he meant to be more abashed but it was so hard just not to smile when he saw her. "Hey, uh, I didn't mean to wake you or sneak into your room or anything, but somebody sat on me," he chucked and shrugged in an what-are-you-gonna-do way. "Can I crash in your room? You won't even know I'm here, promise."
Maybe it was all the alcohol still being processed by her body that made Kally have such vivid dreams that night; maybe it was just her brain reacting to all the new information that had come to light while drinking and reading weird fanfiction porn with a friend who apparently made her stomach do flips and made her body crave closeness to his. Whatever it was, she was lost in a swirl of vibrant colors, but the one thing that seemed to stand out in her jumble of dreams was Lev. When she felt someone gently shaking her shoulder, it blended right in with part of the dream -- this time, one where she was a member of the Teen Titans and was on a secret mission with her partner whose face looked a lot like the friend’s that she’d spent the day with. And as her eyes blinked into focus, Kally couldn’t help but smile sleepily when the face before her was the very same, although this time without the ridiculous superhero mask that she’d been seeing behind her eyelids. “Hey,” she said, her voice still husky from sleep. She patted the spot next to her weakly, only half-conscious but with a dream-like smile tugging up the corners of her lips. She’d dreamed him, and now he was really here, and just as she’d promised, there was nothing but -- albeit sleepy -- adoration in her eyes as she looked at him. “I won’t sit on you, I promise,” she added with a slight giggle, “Although I can’t promise I won’t cuddle you, you’re really comfy and it’s super lonely in here sometimes.” Kally barely even realized what she’d said, but it hadn’t been enough to scare Lev off, at least; she felt the bed dip under his weight as he laid down next to her, and Kally almost immediately rolled towards him, wrapping her arms around his stomach from behind and nuzzling his shoulder until her chin found a place to rest atop it. “There, you’re all safe from Napoleon’s butt now,” she whispered, letting her eyes slide closed, feeling more comfortable than she had in a very long time. “Sorry I’m not still an Ewok,” was the last thing she remembered saying, wondering if he’d stepped over her discarded onesie on his way into her room, before she sucked in a deep breath that smelled like warmth mixed with a little bit of sweat and lingering cinnamon schnapps and slipped quietly back to sleep.
Lev had been expecting maybe a little irritation or grogginess when he woke her up, but true to her word, Kally didn't look the least bit annoyed with him. She had said he could wake her up whenever to talk and that she'd be more than okay with it but he didn't anticipate that she would look so unmistakeably glad to see him and it felt like a huge weight off his shoulders. He wasn't an intruder, he wasn't someone she was just putting up with, he was her honest-to-goodness friend, and whatever else he'd wanted to be today didn't bother him as long as he got to keep being her friend and as long as she kept looking at him like this. Lying down besides her was easier than he thought it would be, especially with the amount of skin that was exposed from both of them now and with the promise of cuddles lingering in the air. Despite all this, his brain betrayed him only once when she mentioned sitting on him - it made him briefly flash back to earlier on the couch with her and how desperate he'd been to get closer, and now he was in her bed - but it was okay, because it was different now. The space between them felt less chemically charged and like a more quiet sort of intimate that was perfect for falling into a comfortable sleep. "That sounds perfect," he answered honestly before hastily adding, "the cuddles, not the lonely." He hadn't been lying down for more than a second probably when he felt her arms clasp around his stomach and her face on his shoulder and any awkwardness that he might have feare melted away. Most everything melted away, except for her. One of his hands rose to meet her hands for a minute, as if making sure she was real. "I feel very protected," he whispered back in assurance. He'd never been this close to another person before and he honestly couldn't remember feeling warmer or safer or more relaxed. He felt so safe in fact that it took only a few moments and a few breaths before he started falling back asleep again, so quickly that he wasn't sure if he actually said good night to the girl wrapped around him or if it was part of his dreams, dreams that were colorful and fun but somehow still didn't compare to the day they'd had together.
