prompt 39 + suzie and lexi plss?? <3

okay to be so honest this ask has haunted me since you asked it. like i've been working on it for a WEEK because it's so intriguing that i just had to see what i could do... and here's what i got. hopefully you like it!!

(also we're doing a read more because my cutoff for posting a fic on ao3 is over 1k and this is only 100 words off and, well, that's a lot of scrolling)

Lexi’s hanging out with Suzie today.

Well, they’re in a group. And there are a bunch of their friends around to act as a buffer. But even still, she’s hanging out with Suzie Toot, of all people, and she’s even driving her to the beach. (She sat in the trunk because all of the other seats were full, but still. Suzie Toot, in her car.)

And here’s the thing: Lexi knows she’s been a bit of a bitch to her. She’s not stupid, and it’s obvious to everyone—including Suzie—that Lexi doesn't really like her. But Suzie’s just so… something, and Lexi’s always just felt something around her. She’s annoyingly bright, and self-assured, and chatty, and frustrating, and…

Ugh. She’s so Suzie, and Lexi doesn’t know what to do with her.

So they go to the beach, because Kori decides that they should. 

They’re at the beach, and it’s nice, actually. She’s tanned a bit, gossiped and soaked in the sun. She still has the very last remnants of her smoothie from earlier, uncomfortably melted but still good. She lets herself soak it all in: the warm sun and the sting of hot sand burning her feet, the refreshing chill of the water, the chatter of her friends, and—

It’s quieter than she thought. It’s quieter than it should be.

“Where’s Suzie?”

“That’s a question you’ve never asked before,” Lydia says. She’s still dripping wet, only there to grab something or other from her bag, but she responds to the question Lexi hadn’t known she asked aloud.

Lexi shifts, some odd type of shame making her want to hide. She’s right—she’s never asked before, never cared. But Suzie’s not here, and it feels weird to be out with the whole group and not her, and what if something happened to her? 

That’s what she tells herself, at least. 

“Well, it’s like… It’s weird not to see her tap-dancing across the sand, or something.” Lydia doesn’t seem convinced by her excuse. Lexi isn’t convinced by her excuse.

“She had to grab something from her clothes in your car, last I heard.”

“I’ll go check on her.” 

Why did she offer that? Why does she care? She doesn’t know, and obviously neither does Lydia, but she just shrugs and turns back to her girlfriend and the others still splashing around in the water. 

“What’s with the change?” Sam speaks up from next to her, looking at her through dark sunglasses. Lexi hums something noncommittally, pretending like she wasn't asking herself the very same thing.

She hoists herself up off her towel and walks off towards the car. 

The walk isn’t far, but it gives her enough time to think. Suzie mentioned not knowing if she wanted to swim or not, and until now she’d been spending time under the umbrella, so she’s probably changing into a swimsuit... 

She doesn’t think about Suzie’s probably stupid swimsuit or how she probably looks in it. Probably. Something’s off with her today, for how much she’s thinking about Suzie. 

All too soon, she reaches the car. Suzie is there, as she predicted, half in and half out of the trunk of her car. 

And truly, Lexi doesn’t mean to look, but she sees it anyway. She should’t even be here right now—she should be relaxing in the sun, but here she is. Standing behind Suzie, looking for Suzie, for no reason at all. She doesn’t say all that, though. Instead, she says, “You left your bra in my car,” she says. 

She doesn’t know why she says it, because it doesn’t really matter. Suzie’s not the only one who left her stuff behind, but still—Suzie’s bra is right there. She can see it right over her shoulder. 

Suzie wheels around, almost dropping her shirt.

“Huh? Oh. Hi, Lexi.”

She’s in a conservative, almost old-timey swimsuit. It’s not modest, per se, but it’s a black one-piece swimsuit with white polka dots, because of course it is. And it’s… Suzie doesn’t normally wear things like this. She can see more of her collarbones than she thinks she’s ever seen before, and it’s weird that she notices it so much when Lexi herself usually shows a lot of skin, but it’s Suzie. 

It suits her.

“Your bra’s in my car,” Lexi repeats, because she can’t think of anything else to say.

“Oh. Yeah, it is. Is that… should I take my stuff out?”

“No.” Lexi breathes out. What’s gotten into her? “You look… really good.”

Suzie looks skeptical for a second, but melts into a genuine smile—but it’s still hesitant, Lexi notices. “Well, thanks!” 

Lexi looks at her for another moment, then turns back towards the way she came. “Don’t mention it,” she says, and it’s more of a plea than a platitude. She doesn’t know why she’s acting like this, for one. She turns around, ignoring the heat in her face. “Okay, I’m heading back.”

“Sure,” Suzie says amiably. Lexi expects to feel a familiar pang of annoyance at her answer, but instead she just feels weird, and odd, and warm. “Meet you there!”

“Yeah.” Lexi’s already walking away, trying to salvage what’s left of her reputation in Suzie’s eyes into a strategic retreat that she doesn’t know if she can pull off. She knows that at this rate she’s too far to be heard, but she finishes anyway, “I’ll see you there.”

can you recommend any good fanfics? :)

Tbh, it’s been a while since i used to read fanfics on a daily basis lol So, i don’t really know about the new ones much hence i’ll probably mostly recommend the ones i read years ago and enjoy…

First of all, i wanna recommend some of my favorite authors; Darley101 , islandgirl33 , Star of CCTV , yesliterally and Karevsanatomy  have many great stories about Alex&Izzie or Grey’s in general.

Other than their stories;Something Good , Learning to Live , I’m Not Over You , Choose Your Destiny , What the Truth May Lead to , In My End You’re My Beginning , Till the Day After , The Ghost of You and Not a Hero are some of the stories i read and enjoyed over the years. Most of them are very old…

The newest one i read is  I’ve a Feeling we’re not in Seattle Anymore  which has only 4 chapters published and we are hoping it will keep getting updated, fingers crossed. :)

And lastly, there is this story, “A Little Piece of Heaven” that is in German i’ve recently read and enjoyed it. It’s 10 years old but is a good story about Izzie wanting to use the frozen embryos. So, it was a lot fun reading it after watching 16x16. You could translate it to English or any other language you want and read it if you want, i did so. :)

As i said i haven’t really been reading fics much since there was a lack of new Alex&Izzie stories for a while now. Also, i haven’t really checked on anywhere else, so if there are any good fics, i’d appreacte it if you guys could send me your recommends as well and i can share them on my blog, so, we all can find&read them. ;)

I’ve come to the realization that almost all of my OTPs consist of a grumpy boi who has been hurt by the world and no longer knows how to open himself up but falls madly in love with a bubbly sunshine girl who’s the only person to care about him and be kind to him except he’s terrible at expressing it and she never really knows how he feels

and also that writers hate me because they’re never endgame and she always ends up leaving him while he just pines for her f o r e v e r
