En af de svære sangere at bestemme på udseendet alene: løvsanger. Heldigvis er det en yderst sangaktiv art med en meget karakteristisk sang. Derfor er man sjældent helt afhængig af at kunne se de få feltkendetegn, fuglen byder på, for at artsbestemme den i felten.

Willow Warbler (Phylloscopus trochilus)

One of the hard-to-ID warblers: the Willow Warbler. Luckily, it is a very vocal species with a very characteristic song. Thus, it is not often one has to rely solely on the very few visual characteristics this bird displays to ID it.

"God, it looks like Santa threw up in here.” Liz mused, her tone unimpressed as she entered university PE & recreation centre to see the avalanche of sparkly Christmas decorations and twinkly lights that filled what would usually be a stinky old sweat filled university gymnasium. She wasn’t even sure how she’d been convinced to attend by the person who’d sold her the tickets in the first place. Plus, she was completely and utterly out of her element dressed in heels and the floor-length gown that made it difficult not to trip over her own two feet but at least she’d somehow managed to drag Phoenix along to accompany her and hopefully make the night a little more bearable. “Come on now-- bar’s that way and I already need to sit down and have a drink before I end up ripping this terrible dress off.” Liz told the man by herself, already eagle eyed and scouting where she assumed the two of them would be spending the majority of their night.
