LEWIS TALKING TO FRENCH VOGUE ABOUT HIS 2016 STYLE AND COLLECTING POKÉMON CARDS
FERRARI MEDIA
“I can’t really find words to express my excitement, honestly… I mean, even last night I couldn’t sleep that much ‘cause I knew today was gonna be the day. The past days have been so exciting, to see the car come together, to be in the garage and see everyone… just all the hard work everyone has done and I’m the first one who gets to drive the car, it’s such a privilege and honour.”
“And getting in for the first time, I’m not surrounded by red anymore, it’s white which is a different feeling, obviously, I’ve always dreamt of being in a red cockpit so… but the car looks great! And then the door opening and heading down to turn 1, the first time you see the Tifosi, it’s a really really emotional experience and it feels brand new, feels like such a new beginning.”
(…)
“Look, I’ve been doing this a long time but I love, I LOVE what I do with more than anything. I love this team, I really really love this team. I love the fans that we have. And to still be able to do this is such a privilege for me to be able to continue to do what I feel like I was born to do in my life.”
lewis hamilton after his first day of testing in a rainy Barcelona | 27.01.26
“Very challenging today. It started raining at 10:30 so, obviously Charles had a little bit of dry running but then it was wet all afternoon so… figuring out how to get the tyres working… It was really productive, I think we got 120 laps or something like that, given that it’s in the wet conditions and we had a red flag, I think that’s pretty solid. Really proud of everyone back at the factory for getting the car to this point. We’ve got a lot of information on the car today, definitely need to keep it up. Lots and lots to do, but a good first day.” Q: Given the rule changes, how satisfying is this for the whole team to arrive here and get such a solid number of laps on the board straight away and starting to learn about your new car? Lewis:: "Well, I mean it could be so much worse. "Such a big rule regulation change, so to get through the day without too many major, there were no major issues, it's just small little increments that we're trying to improve on, I think it's great and as I said, we just need to try and get some more days like this. Q: So what is on the checklist for the rest of the week for you, a couple more days of running coming up? Lewis: "Well, hoping to experience the car on the dry and I think just understanding balance, understanding the new SM that we have and how to utilise it and feel it, I've not driven it in the dry so I don't really have a feeling for it, obviously we drove it in the wet which is only the front part and then just understanding the deployment, I think deployment's going to be crucial and understanding that, how to utilise the power, the battery throughout the lap and recharging, all that kind of stuff but I mean we've done a huge amount of work, everyone's done a huge amount of work on the simulator so it's not like it's 100% brand new for us but we still have to go through our sessions and through the data to try and optimise it."
LEWIS DOING AN INTERVIEW WITH SUPERSPORTTV WHICH WILL BE RELEASED LATER THIS WEEKEND | 25.06.26
“The coolest experience ever...” ⚔️ Lewis Hamilton catches up with Lawrence Barretto on achieving one of his childhood dreams in Japan, and much more, in an in-depth interview over on our YouTube channel
If you probably look at all my other interviews all the other years, I never say that I get excited (for testing), but I'm massively excited, and I think that's OK to... to say that."
"Yeah, I'm excited for new beginnings."
“Not particularly, because it's the first day here. Obviously, no cars have been running, so the track's dirty, sandy, and very windy, so you're just kind of sliding around. So, you know, it was just kind of brushing off the cobwebs, I guess. Yeah, over the next couple of days, the track will get better."
Q: In terms of just your early feels with this car, does it feel a little bit better than maybe it did at the start of last year? Or is it too early to say?
"Too early to say, yeah. I mean, I don't think today's felt good for anybody because it's so windy. And it's the lowest grip I've ever felt here in my 20 years. So, yeah."
“I remember being in school and the excitement of opening up packs of cards—growing up in England it was mostly football—and then trading them with friends. It was a small community, but we were connected through our love of sport and cards.”
When Hamilton met Martin, the partnership clicked immediately.
“I’m very connected to my inner child,” Hamilton said. “When I met Adam and saw the way he lit up talking about cards, I felt that same excitement—and knew we could create something special together.”
“I was in Tokyo a few weeks ago and was amazed by the buzz—these stores were packed,” Hamilton said. “It really showed me how big this opportunity can be globally.”
