There is always something so fun about getting to see dragonflies when I most commonly see damselflies. The wings on this species are so beautiful. They also eat mosquitos!

@greenix​ submitted been saving up a few fun little guys for you! I tried my own hand at the IDs on these but am bad at bugs so please let me know how I (and iNaturalist....) did

Slaty Skimmer dragonfly and the caterpillar of a Walnut Sphinx moth (both found at a festival, the latter on my uncle's pants!)

unidentified grasshopper in [removed] (remove location please!) and a giant leaf footed bug

Lyric Cicada and a gorgeous little leaf beetle

and a charming pine borer that flew right out of the sky to visit us!

That’s a good group of pals! The dragonfly is in the genus Libellula for sure, but I couldn’t say beyond that. Too many similar ones for me to narrow it down myself. The caterpillar does look like a walnut sphinx! They have very cute pointy heads. The next one is a meadow katydid, not a grasshopper. The one after that is indeed a leaf-footed bug in the genus Acanthocephala. I would need more photos to ID the cicada to a species but you got the genus right at least! The beetle is a dogbane leaf beetle, and yes the last one is a sculptured pine borer! Look at its cute little face :’)
