Found these fun old Christopher Pike teen thrillers in the Roaring Branch library. I remember reading and swapping different books and talking about the scares and twists with my friends. I still remember enjoying them but now the books all kind of blur into one haunted sleepover revenge chain letter prank gone wrong scary story. Did you read these books too? Or did you have another favorite teen series? The one part of all the Christopher Pike books that I remember clearly is the final scene in Remember Me. (That scene is why I triple-check whenever I do my husband’s injections, despite MULTIPLE doctors and nurses assuring me that the air bubble thing is basically impossible. Unearthing Mysteries

After my encounter with Webarachnara, I decided to head back up to the library to examine the books more closely. Many were written in languages I couldn’t read, their pages yellowed and crumbling. Others fell apart in my hands as I took them from the shelves. Amidst the decay, one book on the windowsill caught my eye with its intricate cover. I decided to take it with me, though I don't know why, as the pictures and symbols inside were incomprehensible to me.

I didn’t want to spend more time in this eerie place, and Rufus was waiting outside, probably worried about me. It was time to leave the villa and its mysteries behind for now.

So I found this book called Rodham and it’s an alternative history novel about what would have happened if Hillary Clinton had never married Bill. Totally perplexed as to how you publish a novel like that about a still-living person. Like, most fanfiction websites don’t let you post “real people” fanfiction because it opens them up to libel suits. 

Conclusion: A wistful Hillary Clinton wrote the book and published it under a pseudonym.

I read a LOT of books on writing craft and this one is simply effervescent. It's a patchwork of creative theory interspersed with author essays and advice, just brimming with inspiration and ideas.
