That post going around saying what it would be like if the other Star Treks had mpreg only has the classic shows, and I, a guy who makes everything about Discovery, have been pondering how it would happen on Discovery, so here's our characters ranked by how likely I think it would be to happen for them, limited to characters who appear in more than one season because I don't give a fuck about Rayner, Lorca, Pike, or Blade
Saru, he's our main male character, so it makes the most sense to pick him, and canon already gave him a kid that they then promptly forgot about, so what's one more? Kelpians as a new species would be pretty easy to establish as having the men carry their young, or we could make his biology funky as the result of being the first person in generations to survive Vahar'ai
Book, again, a very big character and one who is clearly interested in having children since he does have one by the end. Kwejian are again a new species that could easily be established to reproduce this way, and trans Book readings are pretty common. Plus his wife got offered an apprenticeship in godhood, she could make his body work with it if they really wanted
Ash, what's one more fucked up thing happening to violate this man's bodily autonomy? It's fucked up enough that he and L'Rell do have a child together, and I can definitely see the writers making him carry Tenavik, especially since the way Tenavik did canonically gestate established that Klingons have the technology to do that outside of the mother
Culber, I'd be surprised if the 32nd century didn't have a way for men who want biokids to carry them if they want to. If he and Stamets wanted to, I'm sure they could, though I am glad they didn't; we do need more stories about adoption as a first choice, so I love them just taking in the worm kids. Culber only outranks Stamets on account of having had his body reconstituted by sentient mushrooms; you could easily say that altered his biology, especially since mushrooms have like millions of sexes
Stamets, for the same reasons as Culber, minus the mushrooms (though I know he's so jealous of Culber being made of mushrooms). I suppose you could make a similar argument based off his tardigrade DNA, but I don't know how tardigrade sex works
Kovich, Enterprise gave us our first Trek mpreg, why not have have one of their characters give us another? He is too old to get pregnant, but I'm sure their medtech could prevent, slow, or reverse menopause
Rhys, Bryce, Linus, Christopher, etc. Arguably I could rank Linus higher than the others since he's again an alien that we could just say works like that, but none of them ever get anything to do. If any one of them had a kid, it would be a one episode baby that's never mentioned again. Also I'm pretty sure Linus' species lays eggs
Vance, sure, why not? I can't think of any reasons for or against. He's already a dad, may as well give him another kid
Gray. Now obviously, trans men are the way that real life has men who get pregnant, but I think dealing with that would be way too touchy of a subject for Discovery to handle without accidently making it really offensive- which admittedly, has never stopped Star Trek before, which is why trans readings are a point for Book. But Gray also has the points against him of being a teenager and an android. I don't think Discovery would want to do a teen pregnancy storyline, and the logistics of how a robot gets pregnant would start endless debates
