DJBC Holiday Tumblr 21 - Bexley Holiday Hop 2021
The Bexley Holiday Hop took place on the first Sunday in December, organized by the Bexley Area Chamber of Commerce. Most of the Chamber member shops were open for shopping deals, plus the Holiday Hop Passport (where you had to "find the ornament").
Santa, Mrs. Claus, and Dreidel Man all made their appearances as well. Afterwards, we spotted Santa working a nearby Christmas Tree lot, organized by St. Catharine of Siena Parish on the Bexley/Eastmoor line. The Bexley Holiday Hop was followed by the City of Bexley's Christmas Tree Lighting at Drexel Circle.
DJBC Tumblr Summer 21 - Love Me, Love My Alley
This Spring, the City of Bexley held a competition to see which neighborhood alley could transform their alleys. The Love Your Alley project was born, in a way to make common alleys more livable spaces for the neighborhood to enjoy. There were several art murals along homes in Bexley.
Prizes were awarded to the best alley block, and the alley between Bryden Road and Bexley Park Road, between South Cassady Avenue and South Cassingham Road, was featured on the 2021 Bexley Garden Tour, which included some of the artistic murals shown on this blog post.
DJBC Tumblr Summer 21 - Jazz in Bexley Returns (2021)
One last Memorial Day Post, The Bexley Jazz Series returned to Havenwood Park for its fourth season, after spending its third season literally on wheels (driven by Bexley Mayor Ben Kessler), streamed on Facebook Live, due to the Pandemic. The Food Truck Festival, sponsored by the Bexley Area Chamber of Commerce, to kick off the season, was the first in-person Bexley community event since the COVID-19 Pandemic shut down our lives. And it was great to be back. The Largemouth Brass Band was the first band of the season. The Vernon Hairston Trio will take the stage on Father's Day, Sunday June 20th.
DJBC Tumblr Summer Flashback - Labor Day Festival in Bexley (2018)
Here is a bonus DJBC Tumblr Summer Flashback. In 2018, we made a pit stop to the Labor Day Community Cookout at Jeffrey Park in Bexley. Bexley Mayor Ben Kessler, and members of Bexley City Council were hard at work behind the grill, and there was a live orchestra performing at the Park as well. While Labor Day will be socially distant without mass gatherings this year, Summer is Winding Down.
The Library Drop-Off
I forgot to post this a couple of months ago, but the Bexley Public Library did a socially distanced drop off in May, as library patrons returned library materials that were checked out on March 13 and 14, before the Library was forced to close its doors, due to COVID-19. Ulysses the Eagle was there to greet patrons as they dropped off their borrowed materials.
DJBC Tumblr Summer Flashback - Bexley Fourth of July Parade (2016)
I hope you all had a great Fourth of July yesterday. Here are highlights from the 2016 Fourth of July Parade in Bexley, Ohio.
DJBC Tumblr Summer Throwback - Bexley Fourth of July Fireworks (2018)
Hear the Fire Crackers? These are the highlights from the Bexley Fourth of July Parade from TWO Years Ago. Earlier tonight, Bexley resident and now former Ohio Department of Health Director Dr. Amy Acton was recognized by the City of Bexley during their Virtual Fourth of July Front Porch Festivities.
