Hi! I'm writing a fantasy story with gods (I took inspiration by the Greek mythology). I wanted to ask you what activities could they do to spend time among friends but also something more romantic (in particular a date // friends with benefits date). Thank you!
i’m so excited to do this but i’m also very aware that i may have misunderstood the situation, so here’s hoping some of these will be useful to you, my love!!
visiting a museum together!! granted, this is more for like, gods in the modern-era, but the idea of a pair of gods going into a historical museum together, moving through the wing dedicated to ancient greece, reading the historians’ and archaeologists’ perspectives and laughing at the parts that they got wrong, listening to the tour guide telling a group about the ancient myths and love stories. the tour guide saying “ah yes, this was his closest companion, he cared so deeply for him that he insisted they share the same bed, meals, even the same bath!” and the two gods just sharing a bag of sweets like “excuse me they were and remain to be passionately in love, you try sitting across the banquet table from them for a few thousand years and tell me they’re heterosexuals, DEBORAH--”
going star-gazing!! this is more era-neutral, but like, spreading out a blanket on a hilltop, lying down together side-by-side, gazing at the night sky and pointing out the different constellations, the shooting stars, idk if gods have like, incredibly vision or anything but maybe they can see distant planets. maybe there’s some of that “staring at the other person while they’re distracted when they should be staring at the stars” action, who knows.........
swimming in the ocean!! literally like. idk the rules, but if they’re gods, they might survive leaping off a cliff to cannon-ball into the ocean, right? and maybe they go diving down and seeing all the fish and coral and sealife down at the bottom, sneaking a little kiss down under the water where nobody can see them, emerging from the waves to build sand castles together and find a perfect shell to bring home as a souvenir. maybe they find pearls or something and make necklaces out of them, just for a little easter egg along the way where people say “that’s a great necklace!” and they’re like “oh yeah... it was a gift...”
pretending to be mortals for a day. no bc this could be so funny?? two gods doing absolutely everything in their power to be Very Convincing And Totally Real Mortals, and ending up celebrating every interaction with a human that doesn’t directly end with “hey, are you a god?”. they get to eat mortal food and drink mortal drinks, and for a full day they just pretend that they’re ordinary people without the burdens of godliness on their shoulders, and they get to see each other properly relax and be themselves for the first time ever, and it’s just the perfect relaxing day for both of them! (plus then u can dabble in a little angst revolving around them potentially being able to become mortal and the pros and cons of that, yk?? yk. )
going for a picnic!! swiping bottles of wine and platters of food and a few blankets, escaping their chambers and running into the forest or out to the beach or somewhere and sitting back and enjoying good food, the warm sun, and each other’s company in the process. maybe one of them has a musical instrument and plays it for the other, and maybe they pull flowers and braid them into each other’s hair, who knows!
learning how to dance together! a huge godly party is coming up, and they don’t want to be involved in preparing for it, so they come up with this excuse that they need to learn how to dance, and they hide away in some beautiful dancing hall, but after a few hours one of them finds out that the other person genuinely cannot dance, and is so affronted that they insist on teaching them how to, and they just end up dancing together and laughing at their mistakes and stepping on toes and tripping over, like dancing lessons are an UNDERRATED EXPERIENCE--
slipping away from a banquet/feast together! hiding in an old room full of relics, sharing a plate of food and getting giggly as they look through the old things in the room, watching the stars through the window, hiding under curtains as people search for them, using their powers idly as the evening stretches on and the party whirls around them.
