Heyyy ! Yes I’m late but this took me 14 hours of work and I just finished it after 7 hours (I wanna cry) This is a headcanon of mine, but I really wanted to draw Martyn and Jimmy in their respective Listeners outfit. (they will never see and it’s okay)
For me, Martyn has his own outfit since he’s been a Listener longer than Jimmy, also his second origin is a Barracuda (Watchers are avians and/or animals that flies so why not the Listeners are fishes and/or animals that swims) I kinda got inspired by Limited Life, so Martyn is a dangerous fish !
For Jimmy, his outfit is more traditional but he has more yellow since he’s new to being a Listener, also added some orange feathers because of the Phoenix theory (that I love and preach). He’s still an avian but has some fish parts like fins, the bottom of his cape is suppose to look like the fins of a flying fish.
I tried to do some sort of ocean/water kinda vibe but it’s hard when your color palette is mostly green and yellow. Both of them have their eyes covered cause the main thing about the Listeners are to listen, like our Lore God Martyn said they are the embodiments of “lending a listening ear” !
I really liked to draw them, first time drawing Martyn even if it’s "not really" him but still ! Also not lore accurate but I love all the theories and headcanons sooo

My friend @s-chl4rt made a banger Lifetober list that I decided I want to (attempt to) follow, so here is my piece for prompt one: listener.
Musings of a Dead Man
The session was over, the server was quiet, and Martyn was alone. He didn't know where Ren was - probably with Cleo. The game wasn't far enough along for allies and emeies to hold during the break, so no one was bothering with them yet.
He was surprised that Grian had allowed him into his twisted game, especially now that he'd seen the rest of the cast. They were mostly Hermits, Grian's friends - though he hadn't known for sure if the rumours of Grian joining Hermitcraft were true until now. And the non-hermits in the group... his brother, his closest non-hermit friends, and Skizz and Scott. Scott, he knew had some kind of connection to the Watchers, though he wasn't sure what it was exactly, so it made sense for Grian to want to keep an eye on him. Martyn had no idea what Skizz was doing there if he was honest, but he certainly wasn't complaining. The man brought so much life to the server, to their team. Not to mention his presence made Impulse happy, which made Grian happy.
Martyn himself though... After what he'd done to Pearl, he was surprised that Grian hadn't destroyed him the moment he saw him, let alone that he'd been allowed anywhere near Jimmy.
He leaned on the wall beside the door to their little house and tipped his head back, looking at the motionless clouds. He knew how this would go. He knew he wouldn't be allowed to win. Still, there was a kind of victory in paying off age-old debts, even it would cost a piece of him he might never get back. Was it worth it though, to lose the immovable weight on his shoulders at the price of his anchor to his very self? Was floating untethered better than crawling shackled? Did he even want to find out?
He considered contacting Grian, not just a simple whispered chat but properly, void-dweller to void-dweller. The idea was quickly dismissed, however. As a listener, he could survive the void far easier than any normal human, but he wasn't nearly as suited for it as Watchers. To a Watcher, the void was home, it was Their natural habitat. To a listener, it was a place he could reach through a lot of effort and energy, which would take a long time to replenish afterwards. He would be as good as unconscious for hours, and he didn't particularly fancy being vulnerable in a world with a Watcher who had a legitimate reason to want him erased from existence.
So Martyn resigned himself to ignorance, to looking over his shoulder and keeping his eyes and ears open, to being ready for anything. He started bracing himself for an inevitable death that, he was sure, would be far from pleasant.
Besides, he wouldn't be allowed to win, but that didn't mean he couldn't help Ren win. Maybe he could still get something out of this nightmare. How They would hate having to Watch a listener's teammate take the victory.
Martyn straightened. He had a goal now, a real goal, not just survive as long as possible.
