Can I just say, I am so sick of all of these “communities” on Tumblr that are really just people glorifying and erasing mental illnesses.

No, I’m not talking about people that do things like the Autism Selfies and things like that, because those still raise awareness.

I’m talking about people like the “lifting” fandom, who turn kleptomania into a cute little culture, or some of the Otherkin who have convinced themselves that these thoughts are healthy and normal and so they neglect to seek counseling to understand them and assure that it doesn’t escalate to dangerous

I completely get the sentiment behind wanting to make mental illnesses accepted by society, but groups like these often try to portray abnormal behaviors as not being the result of some kind of mental illness. Often it will result in very dangerous behaviors being accepted
