i’m only saying this under cover of sanderson critical night w/ the mutuals, but i’m also super unhappy with the way the darkeyes are depicted wrt/ racism & classism. like we’ve extensively covered how the lighteye apologism from the narrative is not great. but. are you really going to sit here and tell me that bridge four was just assimilated. and forgot all about the continuing slavery happening all around them. like the fact that after wor there’s NO tension between kaladin and the kholins...who continue to protect the system of slavery. the fact that a response to oppression is simply nonexistent in the entire characterization of oppressed characters beyond row (w/ the exception of rlain). we don’t even get to hear lirin & kaladin talk about dalinar revealing his murder at rathalas. there’s simply NO scene in which a darkeyed main (or even side) even continues to think about the caste system....they became radiants and everything’s just fine now huh.....they don’t even have OPINIONS on this. assimilationist politics at their finest.
