"Ansem..." Kairi approached her father, hands behind her back as she stared up at him. "I just want to say... I think you have something wrong. You keep saying that YOU want to protect me, or want me happy. And you think you know what's best for me... But you never as what it is that I want, or feel like I need. I don't NEED someone strong, or powerful. I'm strong enough to protect myself. And if I'm not, I have friends to help me. What I need might just be my FATHER."
Ansem was starring at the ocean in deep thought as he slowly raises the ice-cream before dropping it in shock of his name and looks down before looking up. Ah, Kairi was able to find him at the bench near the beach. “Ah, Kairi, how did the picture showing go? Were your parents happy to see you? No doubt they...” But then he was cut off before frowning. Apparently, the redhead thought quite a bit since the letter, making the blond stare at her. “...So...you spoke to Nana...” How else would she know those words? Sighing, the ex-King sets the stick that was left, down on the table.
“I know, that I have no idea what you need, which is why I can only assume or guess, and by doing so I....” But then she continues, making Ansem to choose to shut up and listen before frowning. Sighing once she was done, he looks at the ice-cream stick. “You are right, you have your friends, but, that does not change the fact that as your father, I failed to protect you, and what worse, I continued to fail to protect you, unable to do anything but just stand there and watch.” Frowning he shakes his head before looking at her.
“Tell me Kairi, when I gave you the journal, when people spoke of me, why did you not want to understand it? Why did you not read the journal?”
