I feel like I'm being annoying about the car crash thing. But like, while I am smug about it, if you followed me during s7 you know how insane shit got, and, well, it does feel good to be right after all of *that*, I have been in a genuine state of what the fuck. Because I came up with the whole thing during the s6-7 hiatus, because I had just called off my engagement and 911 was the only thing making me feel anything close to a positive emotion, so I was coming out of rewatching the show like 4 times in a loop, and I was also in the middle of doing the buddie cuts, so I was locked in with all the information about them in my brain. And I was starting to pick up on how well developed the patterns in this show are. And I noticed the lightning actually mirrors the well, not the shooting. So for the shits and giggles, I sat down with myself and was like "okay what are the elements of the shooting" and how can I use that again to trigger buddie and thought about the emotions that we are supposed to get watching, and also what they are putting Buck and Eddie through and how. And thinking about Buck, Actually and Buck Begins, while trying to find what would be the easiest way to do something that would trigger both of them, I landed in a car crash. Not just because of the way buddie has situations mirroring every call from 208, but also Shannon dying because of a car, Buck crashing his bike. And it's easy to make it happen in a way to add to the unpredictability of the situation. I stopped in the drowning because it never occurred to me that the show would just send them to a different state to do it, so I needed something with instantaneous consequences, since if they were in LA, 5 minutes in, someone in the firefam would know, and lose the element, of this needing to be between the 2 of them. And the bare bones of my logic seems correct. Like, spot on correct. And genuinely I don't know how to handle it.
