Hearing Scott, the 1400-year-old vampire who has felled armies, and massacred Oakhurst AT LEAST once, agree that Pyro, a 20-year-old university student who hadn't even finished their degree, was 'too far gone', moments after he made a promise to change, hurt a little. Just a smidge.

They weren't too far gone. They were scared, full of rage, but most of all, they were desperate to live.

He could've redeemed himself. He TRIED to redeem himself!!!. Both to the humans and to the vampires. But because of their immense fear of death (Scott), they ended up digging their own grave and becoming public enemy number 1 of BOTH sides.

And it's all really tragic. He just wanted to fit in, to have people to back him. Which he never got, not as a human, not as a vampire, because of his fear-induced impulsiveness and failure to think his decisions and actions through. And now, he's (by what the ending screen on his pov implies) either cursed to roam Oakhurst as a restless spirit, or damned for eternity next to Owen.
