4. A song that reminds you of someone you would rather forget about
Yikes! Presented without context: Woke Up New by The Mountain Goats
21. A favorite song with a person’s name in the title
In order to avoid answering every single one of these questions with a Mountain Goats song, I'm gonna have to go with Movin' Out (Anthony's Song) by Billy Joel
23. A song that you think everybody should listen to
THIS IS DIFFICULT. Okay, one Mountain Goats answer: Picture Of My Dress. One non-Goats: Med School by Dry The River
yes I am late to the dimension 20 boat, but I just finished The Unsleeping City and i have so many feelings about Kugrash, so have a sad lil rat song to help me get over my writer’s block
Lyrics under the cut
from one rat to another
don’t forget where you came from
the sounds of the street and the sun beating down
on your little grey head as you hide underground
from one rat to another
don’t forget who you are
the ballpark in spring and your children who sing
on the way back from the schoolyard
remember the looks on their faces
remember the things that you did
so if you’re the one who is guilty
just know that a rat wont forgive
From one rat to another
remember that rats can be kind
they weren’t always so but they want you to know
they’ve grown a better rat in the meantime
[Fig] : heyyyyy Adaine so i know i can usually be kinda tough to read, so dont freak out
[Fig] : also i kno you’re like up three flights of stairs and i could just go up and talk to you but
[Fig] : and i also noticed you’ve been kinda down since you moved in and all that stuff with your parents happened
[Fig] : anyway I wrote you a song
[Fig] : attch: UpInTheTower.mp3
[Fig] : dont freak out its chill
anyway more dimension 20 mini songs, a fantasy high season 1 rewatch and a lot of feelings about adaine okay, and even more feelings about the missed opportunity for beautiful fig and adaine sisterly bonding while they both live in mordred manor and adaine’s family’s the worst
lyrics under the cut
hey there sister up in the tower
won’t you come down for a little while
hey there sister I’ll play some music,
til maybe it suits you to smile
i’ll cast a chord to rattle the floorboards
and mend whatever’s been broken
we’ll talk through the night til you find your laughter
and say all the words that need spoken
we have all of magic laid out at our fingertips
but with all the options the answers are slim
but you’ve got this fire burning inside of you
that i’d hate for your world to dim
let me do what i can
let me play you a song
let me show you the burning
that you could have felt all along
i’ll kick all the asses of every last bad guy
who hurts you til they’re dead and gone
you’re my first sister but right away i knew
that loving you could never be wrong
hey there sister up in the tower
won’t you come down for a little while
look i am not one to usually partake in the OC game but if i were to have a character in a crown of candy i’d be a blue cheese druid aligned to the circle of spores who runs an underground coven of rot to maintain balance in the lands okay thats all im saying
I'm fully gonna use this as an excuse to put another Mountain Goats song, but this one being Riches and Wonders as interpreted by Eliza Rickman. It is truly eons better than the original. The strings are gorgeous.
22. A song that moves you forward
I almost sent you this one. I might still. I don't know that I know what this means! But: Your Smile's a Drug by Patrick Park
30:A song that reminds you of yourself
How dare you make me look inward. You're getting Goats. Andrew Eldritch is Moving Back To Leeds
No-one will even steal it
If you leave it by the door
No sign to mark it's going
No tombstone for its grave
There will be goodbyes by dozens
So practice being brave
21. A favorite song with a person’s name in the title
I've done this one already but you get more! Wilson (Expensive Mistakes) by Fall Out Boy
30. A song that reminds you of yourself
This is also tricky!!! This is very tricky! Some context: I wrote a whole paper about this song right before my last year of university. I think it was a pretty good paper, honestly! I internalized it a little. A lot. Maybe. It's, of course, More Like You by Orla Gartland. Notably:
Oh, I heard it from a woman on the internet
She told me to eat well and try to love myself
Then maybe I won't wish that I was someone else
(Tell me how, tell me how)
To be more like you
