S01E03 | arma penetrabilior omni projectilis
Upon the projector that once displayed names and fates, you instead see both Lily and Lily on a live feed. Similar to last week, they are in what appears to be a dark room. Picking themselves off the ground, they walked slowly - trying to find out where to go. A path lit before them and they wandered in a somewhat aimless manner - up until an axe came out of nowhere and blocked their path. Ah. A black knight. A black knight... coming right at them... with an axe. [ ... } The two women whirled around and ran back the way they came, the lights now conveniently showing them where to go. Music blared through the speakers. Heels clacked against tile as they tried to escape from the axe-wielding black knight, who seemed to have no problem running at full speed while wearing heavy armour. They ran and ran and ran... until they found themselves in a room resembling a dungeon, with a door at the far end.
Cabernet and Momioka reached the door and tugged at the doorknob, but to their evident horror it was locked. They turned around, intending to find another way out, but the black knight was already there, blocking the way they came from. Blocking the only exit left.
There was no escape.
There was a bleep as Cabernet swore. You could've sworn the black knight was grinning at them now. He raised his axe threateningly and advanced towards them.
Momioka tugged at Cabernet's sleeve and pointed at a pair of suits of armour lying by the wall near them. Cabernet dashed towards them and tossed one at Momioka, a nasty grin forming on her face.
"They'll have a knight end us, eh? It's time we become knights ourselves!" Her voice rang loud and clear.
They suited up in the surprisingly stylish golden and white armour engraved with fleur de lis motives and complete with stiletto heels and flowing shoulder cloaks - a deep red for Cabernet and a gleaming white for Momioka - and armed themselves; Momioka picked up a rapier while Cabernet twirled a dagger in one hand. You barely had time to wonder where the heck those things came from when they clashed with the black knight -- well, not to say clashed per se, but they did pretty well. Axe clanged against tile, rapier struck against armour, and eventually Cabernet landed the killing blow, stabbing the black knight in the back. He fell to the ground with a crash so loud it felt like it reverberated through your bones, even as you watched it all unfold from the screen. You sort of guessed this wasn't the real thing - like there's no way they'd kill someone for real (or would they?), but it all looked so real. You're amazed. This is some triple A blockbuster material here.
You watch, wide-eyed, as Cabernet and Momioka high-fived each other in a rare moment of emotion and then made their way towards the exit, carefully skirting over the (presumably) dead knight. This wasn't supposed to happen, you think. People are supposed to be eliminated, not triumph over their eliminators! But then the camera panned over them, focusing on the black knight; you shout a futile warning at the screen but could do nothing as the black knight suddenly raised himself off the ground and brought out a large rifle from the folds of his cloak. The camera zoomed dramatically to the rifle, ornate words engraved on the barrel filling the screen.
ARMOUR PIERCING ROUNDS.
You couldn't believe your eyes.
Perhaps Cabernet sensed something. You think it's the mafia in her, but she spun quickly and took the first hit, jumping in front of Momioka. She collapsed on the ground in a beautiful slow-mo shot. Momioka later fell to the ground as well, three gunshots to the chest bringing her down. White and red lily petals fell from the ceiling, slowly blanketing the two fallen knights.
The scene then slowly faded to black, and you're left thinking to yourself: who the heck brings a gun to a melee fight? And with that lovely note, the feed cut. And to that, Hera and Zeus smiled.
🌹 POV 🌹 [RE: Lucas]
Lucas was sticking to his guns, and as he spoke, she did come to understand his way of thinking. It was a lot less flawed than she initially thought, although she still felt it foolish regardless. But it was at least foolishness with enough logic behind that she felt her icy rage subside slightly. She nodded as he spoke, allowing her face to relax a bit. It was a little strange to allow a more natural expression onto her face, after all, with the amount her face normally moved, it was as if they'd managed to botox her personality.
“You seem to have a very generous assessment of everyone in this room, Mr. Kavalli. Maybe I'm being overly harsh, but I contest the statement that everyone is evenly matched. Otherwise it wouldn't be a competition. It'd just be a draw every round.” She sighed deeply, “I do not understand how you take my behaviour to mean I would “play in the game” in a way that is threatening to you. If anything, I've simply shown how much I value honesty. I will admit I also have shown a more ugly side of me, but I'm hardly the only person here to have flaws.”
She sighed again. Lily had a habit of repeating gestures for effect, if she chuckled once, she'd presumably chuckle again shortly after. If she sighed, she'd sigh again a little bit after. It was just another sign of how premeditated every action she took was. “However, I must concede that you do have a point. I am holding people to my own moral code, and that in itself is wrong. I assumed everyone thought the same way as me, but now I can see your perspective, I think you are just looking at voting from a different angle. But I still feel like you should take challenges into account – there are reasons we have them besides the immunity reward. They are intended to be bases for our votes. They are far from the only thing we can vote based around but, in the interest of fairness, evaluating people's worth as idols and producers is fairer than voting based around who you consider to be a threat.”
“There's a difference between viewing this as a competition solely to win, and seeing it as a competition dedicated to finding the very best idol and producer. I see it as the latter, Mr. Kavalli. I'm not dedicated to this cause. I did not expect to win. I intended to use this as a platform, but I always did my best. But you, you are dedicated to this. And If I wanted to win, if I wanted to win, I would want it to be by knowing I was the best producer – not that I was the least threatening one.”
Lily smiled, more serenely than the toothy grins she'd given out earlier. “I cannot force you or anyone else to think the same way as me. But I shall stick to my convictions, and I think the way that people are currently voting is both bad for the competition, bad in a moral sense and bad in that it makes them look petty to other competitors and the public. That said, I apologise. I should have waited longer for you to explain your way of thinking to me, rather than jump to conclusions. I acted in an impolite manner.” Lily would have added that the apology only applied to Lucas, but that would lessen it for sure.
❁ Mr. Matokai ❁ [RE: Junpei]
Junpei's response was about what she expected from him at this point, and she didn't bother to look at him as he valiantly tried to attack her. She only looked up at him when he apologised, however terribly insincere it was.
“We were on good terms until I voted for you? Ah, forgive me for offering my opinion here, but it seems to me you are very much someone who can “give it out” but cannot “take it”, to put it in phrases you will likely understand.” Lily closed her eyes “How petty to feel anger at someone for a single vote with justification attached during a competition. Still, what's done is done. I think it's obvious how much you care at this point, Mr. Matokai. I'm genuinely thankful I got to meet you. I learnt that I should never underestimate someone on a first impression. Or perhaps I mean overestimate? The words are similar, it's so easy to get them confused.”
Lily turned her back on him. She meant what she said, but... somehow, it still didn't sit well with her how easily they'd turned on each other. She... had kind of liked him when they first met. She hadn't expected him to be the type to react in such an immature manner to criticism. But maybe he hadn't expected her to be the type to be so brutally honest when voting? No, she was too into this situation to start doubting her justifications now.
